Nothin' wrong with a little shakin' now and then. You get used to the small ones. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

It's been my experience as a gear dealer.... ...people always try to plan for multiple canopy downsizes. Thinking they will want to hang onto the container as long as humanly possible. But in reality, they end up wanting a new container after a downsize or two anyway. Containers will continue to improve and change, you'll want to change your color scheme, you'll start a team... who knows. All I know is that of my customers that buy new from the start, want all new in a couple seasons. So my vote is to plan for this size plus one downsize. Then wait to see where you are at and what you want, when the time comes. Unless of course you can predict the future. In which case, PM me instantly! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Maybe I should be more specific. I advocate them as a back-up device set slightly below break for new/er jumpers. Again. I think it's more important to develope that clock. Otherwise, without that instinct, you have no backup if your battery or little electronic device should fail. Skydivers should remember to develop their human skills as rapidly as the gear is develping. If this balance is thrown off, the incident statistics will reflect it! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

And why the hell are you posting from the Warfield? And when the hell did they turn it into a comedy venue? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

Those are both great deals. The racer is a smokin' deal. So why don't you make a decision, and give me the number of the party selling the other! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

I don't advocate audible altimeters for students and new jumpers. It's important for you to develope a "freefall clock" before you rely on an audible cue. I'm NOT saying don't get one. But I would advise that if you decide to purchase one, consider setting the first warning for just BELOW break off. For about the first 100 jumps or so. That way, you are developing your sense of timing and visual reference to the ground and altimeter. As you are tracking off you will hear your audible as a back up. If you hear the warning and you have yet to break off, then you know you are a couple seconds late. It's a back up device. The other settings can be for pull time and hard deck. I thinks it's very important to develope survival skills in the early stages of your skydiving career. And waiting to hear a beep is not a survival skill. It's a dependancy. Disclaimer: This is just my opinion. Worth what you paid for it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

Hook up my buddy Keith if you have a minute! ==> Hey, you all I've entered an online Battle of the Bands and need your help. It would be greatly appreciated if you would cast a vote for my two entries. It only takes a few seconds. The voting page link is: http://www.santacruzlivebattle.com/phpQ/fillsurvey.php?sid=4 Scroll down to near the bottom of the entries (in alphabetical order) and you'll see "Tiedye Keith - Sweet Maria" in the left-hand column and "Tiedye Keith - Blue Skies" in the right-hand column. It would be super cool if you could tell your friends about this and encourage them to help the cause as well. Every vote is welcomed. Many thanks and wish me luck! Grassfire at Bay Area Skydiving
GravityGirl replied to Krusin's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Replant what? The weeds? We don't have "real" grass in our landing area. Not only that. We don't have running water! So the watering thing is out. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear! -
Hey Damion! Where do you want to travel? Skydiving is a small world. Someone always knows someone, ya know? So. Can you narrow it down a little, and I'll see if I can help point you in the right direction. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

The landing area was scorched right up the the road in front of the hanger. The hanger is still there. It's perfect. While we were watching the fire from a safe distance the hanger was not visible through the smoke blowing directly into it in 25 mph winds. I mean a lot of smoke. It was pretty scarry. But it was all just "stuff" in there. My daughter and husband and I were al together, and that's all that really matter, right? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

In another thread, ChopChop mentioned that our DZ was overtaken by a brush fire. From the time we called for an evacuation to the time the flames were too close for comfort, the entire pro shop was loaded into cars and RVs. Every time I picked up another box, there was another jumper there ready to grab and run. When everyone ran for their gear, I figured they would grab their rig and load it in their car to get the hell out of Dodge. But most jumpers stayed and helped the DZ load tandem and student gear into the planes, move the fuel truck, relocate my entire store, and of course evacuate the beer from the fridge! We all sat down at the other end of the airport watching the hanger engulfed in thick smoke. I had my moments of emotion. But mostly I was blown away at what a cool group of people I hang out with. Then when the flames were out and we returned to the hanger, the same drunked group loaded everything right back where it was... mostly..... Damn. THANK YOU SO MUCH. I love you fuckers! And yes. I'll put beer in the fridge! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

It's really eerie out here right now. Don't worry. We'll come up with an alternative landing area for now, I'm sure. Has anyone seen my laptop?!!? I had it at the other end while we were drinking beers. Then when we were reloading the pro shop, it got misplaced in the shuffle. It's likely in a box somewhere. Just though if anyone remembers seeing it.... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
