Most of the new gear on the market is awesome, tried, true and for the most part, safe. We are at a point in the sport where we can pick brands and options based on PERSONAL PREFERENCE. Hell, sometimes it even comes down to styley points. Hackeys are good. Freefly Puds are good. There are pros and minor cons to both. What feels good in your hand? That being said, have a look around at the gear that you find appealing. Then call a qualified dealer and ask about the differences between your choices. They can help you find what is right for you. You already mention a Wings in the title. Sounds like that container system is one you like. It is a good modern sport rig with great features. Looks like you like the set in lats and stainless. It's harder to tell someone what to do than to show them what to do. Show them a confident, calm jumpmaster and you will be teaching them how to relax in a high stress situation. And that is all we are really teaching after all. The moves are quite simple. Doing them in a high stress situation is the tricky part. How many jumps do your risers have on them? Risers are a maintenance item. Just like lines, Pilot Chutes, D-Bags, closing loops, etc. After three years, by all means have them inspected by your rigger and maintenance anything that it needs. Could be as simple as a small stitch. Should cost no more than some new rubber bands and a couple new closing loops. Every winter I like to maintenance my gear. Change out all the rubber bands. Check the loops on my D-Bag. Check the grommets. Change the closing loop. Check my PC. Check my risers. Check Slinks. Check Slider Bumbers. Check grommets on slider. You know. Raven I is 181 sq ft. The Raven II is 218 sq ft, etc. The number just depicts a larger size. IMHO the Raven I is the best flying Raven that I have landed and that I have observed land. I used to have a 1990 Raven I. It gave me 3 saves. Flew great lightly loaded. And I started a collection of nifty T-Shirts. I can't believe you are driving all the way to Monterey from San Francisco! I would love to say that Byron is not windy, but.... We have, however, been getting our students in the air. There are periods of wind hold as the climate starts to heat up. Skydance and Byron are your closest options if you are really in SF.
