Everyone knew that a 1k RAM was actually 1024 bits, but that "k" was close enough for the terminology. It was when the density got up to 2^16 = 65,536 bits that it looked odd to say a 65kbit RAM. So, the convention entered for K = 1024, and we called it a 64Kbit RAM. That would have been in the late 70's.

There was a good podcast on NPR's Planet Money last week on fake news. Like the guy above, this one wasn't working for the candidate. He just saw an opportunity to make money on traffic. http://www.npr.org/sections/money/2016/12/02/504155809/episode-739-finding-the-fake-news-king

GOP introduces proposal to reduce Social Security

I've been expecting means testing for some time. I'm also expecting that Roth IRA withdrawals will be indirectly taxed, by including them in the amount of "income" that is used when calculating SSI payments, and the taxes on them. -

Yep. And showing up at Pope with that equipment, and having it called "gutter gear." -
I had a taxi driver with about 230k on his Prius. Original hybrid battery was still good.

But no-one claims that they put their lives on the line for the sake of a flag. Flag jumps can be pretty dangerous.

It's okay. He's getting them from Putin. -
The other thing that made the USA great in that era was that Asia was mostly manufacturing with 19th century technology. Now, they are among the best, and still have much cheaper labor than US/Europe.

What Does This Say About The Democrats Message?
headoverheels replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
I don't think that Trump will make the same mistake that Obama naively did in his first term, of trying to "play nice" and build consensus even though he had a majority in Congress. -
I did not say that.

If Trump really wants to shake things up, he will nominate Garland .

Low population states get proportionately more electoral votes than high population states. If California got as many electoral votes per person as Wyoming, it would get about 188, instead of the 55 which it gets. The reason the proportions are skewed is because of the mandated 2 for the Senate. Removing those two brings the proportions roughly in line across most of the 50 States. Thank you, Captain Obvious .

Pence's positions are pretty bad. Maybe worse than Trump, but without the crazy and lack of self control.

He might say "prove me wrong." The election already has... That is, prove him wrong about his opinion that Trump is unfit to govern.

re: the voting vs polling: It is sorta like the Bradley effect.

I know my predictive abilities are weak. But I'm predicting a lot of legal troubles for President Trump. Berlusconi style. Ordinary trouble will be set aside until his term is over.

Looks like more jobs will be going to Mexico. The peso has already dropped 11% vs the dollar, making it even more advantageous to move jobs there. Maybe my pharma stocks will get a boost tomorrow, though.

And if the Gary Johnson voters in FL had gone with Clinton, she would have won. True, but not all Johnson voters would have voted for Clinton. If bullfrogs had wings, they wouldn't bump their rump when they jump.
