Closet Grammarians, I Have a Question for You
headoverheels replied to Jumpervint's topic in The Bonfire
Valley girls can say " I, like, paint!" -
No, it needs the "Start Old Thread" button.

Here is what I heard of the origins, sometime within a couple of years of when I started jumpin 36 years ago, so mid 70's. At the Z-Hills Turkey meet (8 way competition, Thanksgiving weekend), someone bounced. The next morning one of the teams said that they would like to "sing the guy a hymn." So they did, in the now-familiar manner. His teammates responded with "he'd have liked that." May not be the origin, but the earliest I ever heard of it.

They're driving me crazy with their use of there!

Just use DigiTalker or something similar, to read the posts to you. Homophones fade into nothingness. -
Death cures cancer. AFAIK, 100% effective.

I've probably used it about 80 times, no problems to date.

If it were just "running" I might do okay. When that hurdle showed up at 50 yards, I never could get over it.

Good news for Christians from the world of science
headoverheels replied to Andrewwhyte's topic in Speakers Corner
One? I saw a black guy sell crack the other night. Does that mean all blacks sell crack? You asked the question, I gave the answer. -

I know of a Methodist one that used to turn black people away. -
I wasn't aware of that, but I can't say I'm opposed. A friend homeschools his kids (he says they are "un-schooled). I think they are done a disservice, that will haunt them all of their life.

How to Irritate People (with all due respect to John Cleese)
headoverheels replied to quade's topic in The Bonfire
With all due respect, "with all due respect" is a very useful phrase, usually implying the additional words "... and deserving none." "Very unique" is equally fallacious, but "truly unique" is not. -
Hard to believe it, but the CA voters are wrong on 7 out of 12.

Do you really have any non-perverted friends... or they are just numbered in perverted scale? Ya know, it's only kinky the first couple of times....

Well at least he didn't lose this one for the Dems.
-
Other than the general economy sucking (which it would with either McCain or Obama), what is it that you sell/provide that is especially hit by raising taxes on the upper income folks? Are you a C corp? If S-corp or sole prop, there aren't any income taxes for the company anyway.
-
Yes. I haven't seen Palin, either. Probably going to go kill something from a helicopter.
-
Because Obama told him to get the hell away?
-
Why is that? The only effect will be on your own taxes, assuming that you make a lot of bucks, as I do. I can't imagine that you are presently hiring more people than you need, out of the goodness of your heart, so you'd only need to get rid of one person at most, as you increase your own work load to make more money to offset your own income tax. Or, are your customers mostly high-income ones, who will have less to spend on your products/services?
-
Do tell, why would the change in taxes make any difference to the number of employees you have?
-
It's past his bedtime. He wants to start seriously getting drunk, and bitching about his "Cuntry First" running mate.

So, are they also calling it for Al Franken?
