  1. Here is an idea, send all the bad drivers to inner chicago, put them in armored cars, let them run over the unruly cop killers, and call it a 'reality' TV show. /me laughing my ass off at the 'real' irony -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.
  2. John, you are right. Worded poorly, I meant a theoretical complete removal of all firearms. Totally academic and will never happen, it is physically impossible to uninvent. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.
  3. Yep, excellent point. If anyone is really interested, AD and I are in favor of law enforcment. That is a small variance from gun legislation, but with a huge difference. The biggest gaping holes in most 'gun control' legislation are: 1. The double-legislate; ie many items are already illegal, but the argument is made that another law will help. 2. The people committing the crimes don't follow laws, hence the 'crime' part. People intent to commit crimes can easily find illegal guns. The only real solution would be totally outlaw guns, and the will never happen in the USA, because enforcment would be totally impractical. Even if it did, there are dozens of other deadly weapons (research mass murder in NY club using gasoline). So, the big nasty right wing advocates allowing citizens to defend themselves with training and empowering the police to act on legislation already there. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.
  4. Not withstanding some inconsistencies in your analogy, what is it that kallend 'knows more' about? Life? Guns? Crime? I would certainly put my money against the latter, but could be wrong. The crux of the matter is that the first option 'life' is subjective. It is possible that kallend knows more about life in innner city chicago. However, that is a localized point of view and my very well look different from different viewpoints; ie law enforcement, etc. In my opinion, it was a subjective viewpoint, applied globally with prejudice, a pretty ego-centric practice. As was stated earlier, the majority of American voters are tired of this practice and voted accordingly. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.
  5. I think that this says it best, although I guess it applies to all of Speakers Corner http://www.youfunny.com/images/fp-653a.jpg -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.
  6. Umm, mr. academic... different /= not real Apparently, College Station is not real? Perhaps Texas is not either. A truly informed individual might postulate that 'our' version of 'reality' has been shaped and affected by our policies, on guns and other things? As far as Chicago, etc. Since those places you mention require groups of cops, apparently the citizens there obey the law quite well, eh? So, if we banned guns, they would just mail them back? In reality, I suspect most of their weapons are illegal and unmarked. They are already illegal. Why aren't the cops going to get them? That is a much better question, one that however has a very complex socio-economic answer. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.
  7. Intriguing. I work for a manufacturer of transportation logisitics, which is an odd field. Customers think they want bleeding edge tech, but in reality usually don't need it and won't pay for it. So you have to provide very specific feature sets without any expensive bells and whistles. Keyhole is a good API for that. There is another niche set of customers that truly desire backend integration and will take ownership of the system and fuel development. For someone like that, that will truly use the full data scope, a GIS solution is always an intriguing option. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.
  8. The features and screenshots look very cool on there. However, the scalable nature of Keyhole, along with the API make keyhole much more commercially viable. World Winds is a learning tool that shows massive data, and latency is not a concern. Keyhole was built to scale over almost any connection, and allows you to tweak all kinds of settings to eliminate latency. For asset tracking it is very very impressive. Much better in my opinion that AutoDesk maps, because the wow factor from photographic images. If you just want fun World Winds is probably better to play with. If you want a front end for a tracking system Keyhole is a different product. This was a wise wise acquisition for google. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

  12. The crash thing there is a fix for, actually maybe a few based on your symptoms. I see your point. But a lot of the reason for that in the first games, was static object tracking. Everything was on a fixed path and loop. So it made a great deal of difference. With newer engines, you might have 100 ways to get to the same point. Do they all provide the same features is a question I don't think anyone has answered for doom. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.
  13. Also has a great API back end to feed it with GPS geocodes. Very cool integration with existing backend data. It can track assets in real time, based on the geocodes. This combine with the aerial photos, even though they are not real time, gives the illusion of real time asset tracking, very cool to see. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

  15. Yeah, this has been a huge point of feedback for the game. It reality based on interviews, it was dones specifically to provide atmosphere; the frantic weapon/flashlight shock mix. If you really dont like it, get the 'ducttape' mod. It mounts the flash light to your weapon and allows concurrent use. Personally I think the dark might heard an exploratory game like Myst, but for a game I bought specifically to scare me, it works very well. But once again, to each his own. The original Half Life and Doom were different, exploration vs. strafing. The sequels still are. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

  20. Well....handy google Most healthy men wake up in the morning with an erection. The slang term for this is "morning wood." This is normal and it's fairly common. Men have several erections a night as part of their sleep cycle. Many times they wake up and find they are still erect. A man's penis becomes erect ("hard") in response to sexual arousal, excitement, and deep relaxation, such as what's experienced in deep dreaming sleep. An erection is caused by a rush of blood to the penis. A man's penis, especially a young man's penis, can also become erect without any kind of arousing stimulation — this is called a "spontaneous erection." Hope this information helps! -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.
