Hey Viking! Two years ago I was shoping around for an SLR. I was drooling over the N90, but couldn't spend that much money w/ a child on the way. I ended up meeting myself half way and got the N60 on sale. I sold the idea to Heather (my wife) by telling her it's for our soon to be born son...so I could take decent/quality pictures of him growing up. Have fun w/ your new toy for me. I took a photography class in college...it's was one of my favorite classes (they didn't offer skydiving). **I'm a Pschydiver! Majdi

AYE!!!! So, Andrea (skymama), what's your idea of cute? My main is already (cute)...it even has a pink slider....Yikes..I mean MAGENTA. I can't think out of the box for my container...I want something that's original...but I'd still want to jump in 2+ years from now (u know....kind of like a tatoo...which is why I don't have one!). What's w/ the "he's a Marine" crap? I asked for help...if wanted to get picked on, I would call my wife! Hehehehehe **I'm a Pschydiver! Majdi

You know...I was thinking the same thing. We have people buckling in their rig in the car, others sleep w/ them...but no one seems to have pics of them. Actually, I did have 2 people email which helped...but I'm still struggling w/ the colors....OUCH...brain freeze! I'm thinking either Black w/ Charcoal around the pop top & sides w/ Royal blue pop top...the panels alternating btwn blue & grey....OR....Red w/ charcoal around the pop top & sides, red pop top w/ panel alternating btwn red & charcoal w/ yellow pin stripes. Who knew this would be so difficult! Then there is the idea of tie-dye. AYE **I'm a Pschydiver! Majdi

My parents are somewhat supportive/indifferent about the sport. My dad always gives me this look as if I was 12 y/o again and throwing my money away...only I'm 26 y/o married w/ a 2 year old son! Last summer, I showed my parents a tape of a few jumps I've made...I walked out to get a drink and came back to find my mother sobing!!!! My parents have never been to a DZ and might never will. Needless to say, I don't talk about skydiving around my mom! In all seriousness, I hope things work out...like someone posted earlier, find something else to get closer w/ your parents (for now) and enjoy your skydiving w/ your "other" family. Mean while, talk about the safety aspects of the sport and drag them out to the DZ during a cook-out this summer. **I'm a Pschydiver! Majdi

I have to rub it in...I got my January in the mail today. I got home and there is it was sitting on the table greeting me! It was an awesome surprise...it got me so excited, I ran out and bought new shoes to jump in!....don't ask! I almost got a pair of Airwalks (the brand name seemed appropriate), but I ended up w/ a pair of Adidas skateboarding shoes (errrrr...skydiving shoes)...in a very pretty dark blue w/ a touch of red. Don't mind me, I'm bored and sleepless and thought I would share my day with the rest of the world! On another note, I wanted to let Lisa (skybytch) know that her letter hit home...I ended up calling Para Gear & ordered the Skydive U. Basic Canopy Flight tape! I think I just spent all the skydiving money I got over the holidays. I'm a pschydiver! Majdi

To add on to what others have said...PISA makes 3 canopies that are sold in the US...2 mains (Hornet & Heatwave) & 1 reserve (Tempo). As a first canopy, the hornet is GREAT! Most put 100's of jumps on it and still love it! It comparable to the Saber-II in many ways (except for swooping/diving) only much cheaper (price wise). New Hornets are sold @ www.para-service.com for $910, so use that as a bargaining tool. I got mine for $675 w/ 40 jumps...but that was pure luck! Search the forum (especially Gear & Rigging forum) and you will find many threads about the Hornet. Also, make sure to pick your instructors brain...they are a wealth of knowledge. Hope this helps. I'll second the vote for the Z-1. I have one of the older ones (w/ metal studs) & I love it. It cuts down on the noise, keeps you warm and helps you focus on what you're doing. Search the classifieds and see if you can find a used helmet first. As for the protrack...I've been itching to get one too, but it's just another toy. Buy a cheap dytter for now that's functional (again look in the classifieds first). Just my 2 cents worth. Blue Sky & Semper Fi Majdi

I bought my Hornet-170 used, and it came w/ a HUGE bright pink colored slider (ehhmm...Magenta)! :-) I guess that's partly why we get soft openings (over-all). I don't know if PISA changed anything on the hornet over time, my DOM is 2000. I didn't get a manual either. Do a search and you'll find a few threads about packing a hornet. By the book (as I'm told) it doesn't require any special treatment; although some still like to roll the nose. Blue Sky & Semper Fi Majdi

I just got my Hornet-170 a few days ago!!!! I jumped it Saturday at Orange...it's much more fun & smooth to fly than the pro-170. I still need to work on my landings, but they were still more gentle than the pro-170. Having a new canopy has rekindled my love for packing (well, kind of). :-) Blue Sky & Semper Fi Majdi

Hello everyone! If you own a Wings container...I need your input! I've heard mostly good things on this system...the only negative comment I've heard is their reserve pc spring doesn't launch out as far as other containers. Has anyone had a rigger tell them that about their own Wings? More specifically dealing w/ the spring. Also, if you have pic of your container, please email it/them to me (MiataDRM@aol.com)...I need color ideas! :) Any other input is always welcome. Thanks in advanced. Thanks for the reply. That helps a lot. However, I might be guilty for stabbing at my toggles. After so many crash landings, I've gotten paranoid w/ that canopy (pro 170) that I spaz on the landing! I've jumped the Hornet 190 & 170 and have no problems. On another note, I didn't know about the 100 jump min recommendation...no one ever said anything. Thanks for the info. I believe Cheryl Stearns is also seeking to break the record? I believe is taking part in "StratoQuest", to jump from 130,000. Her original jump was supposed to take place in April, but I think it got pushed to later date in October. Skydiving magazine reports that she got the US Army's backing, and now she is seeking NASA's sponsorship. I wish the best of luck to both of them. I can't imagine how magnificent of a site it would be to look down to see the planet...instead of just the county one is jumping over! :-) Blue Sky & Semper Fi Majdi

I was wondering if anyone had experiences w/ "both" canopies? I've been jumping my friends pro-170 (flight concepts)...I love it in the air, but always hated the thought of landing it! I was wondering if the pro series is known for being less forgiving on toggle input when landing or if I'm just a bad pilot! (Come to think of it, the openings have always been harsh and I've tried packing it in various ways!) I have no problems when jumping a Hornet-190 w/ 50 jumps w/ stand-up landings! Any input? YEPPY! UPS just delivered my Hornet-170 this morning! I almost bought one new from Riggs & Things (on special for $910)...but I ran across a used one on SkyKat's website. I got it for $675 w/ only 40 jumps. Pray to the skygods that it's clear this weekend so I can jump it. Oh, and I love the colors too :oP Before looking at the Hornet, I was thinking of getting the Saber-II. I spoke w/ and emailed a few people that have had experiences w/ both...in a nutshell, the main differences (aside from the label) are the the performance using the risers while surfing turf. At my level, I didn't think the difference would be noticeable since it's lightly loaded and I don't surf...so that's a few hundered dollars that I saved that will be going to my DZ account :-P Blue Sky & Semper Fi Majdi

Thanks for the reply. I was originally thinking of something similar. Black oveall w/ dark grey (DG) around the reserve part w/ navy blue (NB) on the pop top. The strips alternating btwn DG & NB. Black trim tape & navy blue thread for the wings logo. I like it, but part of me thinks it's not creative enough...who knows! sigh! :oP I'm giving myself until Monday to make up my mind.
