  1. 'bout 5'6"-5'7"..... Scars remind us that the past is real
  2. Thanks for the tips. We figured out two exits this weekend by forming the formation on the ground then backing ourselves into the mock up. We lauched the sidebody exit all day sunday and it flew a lot better than we thought it would. Twice it came out solid. We also worked out the satellite launch but didn't do that one yet. We got all winter to train. Besides, we still need to get used to each other. So we did the exit then round to donut, round to donut just to get used to flying relative. 3. And for a rookie team? All of us have under 500 jumps but by the time season starts next year, with the training we have planned, two of us will be over that and the other two close to 500 as well. Thanks for all the tips. Jump Scars remind us that the past is real
  4. Another question from a hope to be 4-way team. Our DZ has a king air. Comp. uses an otter or tailgate. We've spoken to the DZO about getting an otter every once and a while and as a team we've discussed travelling to another dz that has an otter for training. However, thats not always practical. What's the best way to use what we've got to the max? i.e. that little ass door on the king air.... Thanks, Jump Scars remind us that the past is real
  5. Likely my ass. You owe me a Jump, a waffle and a chicken...... Scars remind us that the past is real
  6. I will definitely be there. Leaving NC on Dec. 14th. Anyone between here and there need a ride, you're welcome to hop in. I'll be going I-20 to I-10!!! Only price you'll have to pay is to listen to me yell and scream about the rocks I see.....
  7. It isn't your airspace. If it ever came down to the airlines or skydivers, the airlines would win. They 'own' (no one owns it) the airspace more than skydivers do. An airplane below you has almost zero chance of seeing jumpers coming down on top of them, much less take evasive action. It is up to the jumpers to ensure clearance from aircraft. All the NOTAM means is that put a little parachute symbol on sectional maps, which I highly doubt that jet was looking at. Being difficult to see the jet is going to sound like a lame excuse if a skydiver hits a jet and would probably end skydiving in the U.S. since the FAA isn't going to take the chance of it happening again and isn't going to put a lot of effort (or any) into keeping skydiving around if it conflicts with the airlines. Derek So do we as skydivers need to make more noise? Have talks with the ATCs and regional control centers to make sure they know where we are? Talk to the Airlines to make sure they know where we are? I doubt any ATCs are reading this unless they are skydivers. How are they supposed to know? Jump Scars remind us that the past is real
  8. What would a good fall rate range be for 4-way? Faster the better, but what is fast? 110? 120? 130? I'd like to see some numbers so I can get an idea. Our fledging team did it's first jumps this past weekend and we were around 112-114. Personally I thought it was slow and spent more time slowing down than anything else. 9. Think of a DO vs. MD this way... where a MD will read extensively about child birth and be present for 1 or 2 births - a DO will actually do 75-100 births and never read about them. I used to work in an Osteopathic hospital and they all seemed like smart docs.

Is this machine the same as the 96-87? Anybody know anything about a singer 96-47? Thanks, Jump Scars remind us that the past is real

  22. I'd say the presence of the largest volcano in the solar system (84k feet tall and the size of Arizona) would indicate that Mars does have warmth in the interior. Then again, I'm no scientist.... replace does with DID have interior heat. There is no evidence of volcanic activity on Mars at present. Scars remind us that the past is real
  23. I'm at a loss for words...... I put the equating of those two articles to the disappearance of artic ice (also reported in the last issue of EOS) on the same plane as the answer my students in physical science for non-science majors gave me for conversion of the distance between two cities from miles to kilometers. Turns out, according to them that 420 miles is equal to 550 kilograms... Scars remind us that the past is real
