A jumper had a d-bag start to come apart on him a few weekends ago and the Master Rigger I'm working with now said it was shot and chucked it in the trash. I dug it out and decided to take it apart - why not? First - there's a lot of damn stitching in a d-bag. Turns out this bag had been patched four times previously and I think I know why. After getting it completely apart and checking all the edges - they were cut rather than seared. Which explains why the bag blew out the way it did and why the previous patches were where they were at. Now I know why riggers told me work from this company was below par, I always thought old riggers just loved to gripe and grumble. Scars remind us that the past is real -
