A quote from Badnarik I like..... "I would announce a special one-week session of Congress where all 535 members would be required to sit through a special version of my Constitution class. Once I was convinced that every member of Congress understood my interpretation of their very limited powers, I would insist that they restate their oath of office while being videotaped." Hmmm.... Careful to call the pot black Mr. Kettle... Even though experts say "diverting any water from the Great Lakes region sets a bad precedent" Bush "said he wants to talk to Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien about piping water to parched states in the west and southwest." He said, "A lot of people don't need [the water], but when you head South and West, we do need it." - AP, 7/19/01; Bush statement, 7/18/01 "We've got to use our resources wisely, like water. It starts with keeping the Great Lakes water in the Great Lakes Basin. (Applause.) You might remember what my opponent said earlier this year about Great Lakes water diversion. He said it would be a delicate balancing act. It sounds just like him. My position is clear: We're never going to allow diversion of Great Lakes water." - President Bush, 8/16/04 Scars remind us that the past is real

I'd definitely agree that technology has changed, but the principles of Sun Tzu are just as applicable now as they were when written. And reading Bills posts - I gather he's referring to the principles of war, not the tools. Jump ------------- Scars remind us that the past is real

Dude, you didn't see this guy.... If he'd have pulled that gun out for anything, the only safe place would have been RIGHT behind him. Then again, that gun would have probably knocked him down... And yeah, I did see him drive out of the parking lot - let's just say I waited a few minutes to let him get on down the road... Jump ------------ Scars remind us that the past is real

You better believe it. I saw an example of that last weekend in Wal-Mart. Old guy could barely walk, looked like he was older than dirt. Walked with a cane and had glasses so thick they were probably bullet proof. Had a .357 on his belt that keep dragging his pants down on one side and on the other he had a short shot belt with six rounds (he had on boxers by the way and I'm guessing it would take him 5+ minutes to reload based on how badly his hands were shaking). We were waiting in line at the Deli counter and he barged his way up to the front and demanded to be served first - a first rate asshole. But I found myself thinking, if someone who couldn't get a gun wanted one, here was one for the taking. If deadly force were required, I seriously doubt this chap would have had the ability to put rounds in center mass, much less someone's skull. Probably would have killed a bystander in all likelihood. I'm a libertarian at heart and vote so, but sometimes I see shit that just ain't right. Jump -------- Scars remind us that the past is real

A Few Facts from the National Institute of Justice
jumper03 replied to Kennedy's topic in Speakers Corner
Oh I completely agree. I'm still just having a hard time trying to figure out why anyone would need a bayonet stud on a personal weapon. Unless of course the good ol' boys want to slice and dice watermelon while they target practice...... "Hey Vern, I bet I can shoot that can and chop this here onion in 2 seconds flat....." Another side question then - When did the air force and navy start teaching bayonet? We did plenty of training during basic in the Corps with them and I thought the army did a little but didn't know the squids and birdmen pulled them out in training. This is something I've always wondered about - now I have guns and I like my guns and would like to keep them - BUT - why in the hell would anyone need a bayonet stud on a rifle? And just how many people know how to use a bayonet without slicing themselves up? Just curious... ------------- Scars remind us that the past is real -
