You're right, I even had to change the crystals in my light saber for using it too much. I live alone because: 1- I HATE mountains of dishes, pots and pans in the kitchen sink 2- I HATE cigarretes butts in glasses, sink, plus I DON'T SMOKE. 3- I HATE hair in the bathtub and lavatory 4- I HATE 'yellow' decorations in the toilet bowl 5- I HATE overflowing garbage can 6- I HATE leftovers left UNWRAPPED in the fridge and on and on and on, yes, I'm very picky, SO WHAT?! Geeze! If guess you have completely ruined your chances of being selected to be the next contestant on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy

I think I'm going to Canada to do my next workout.

I had 2 at once! I lived in a house w/ 3 other people. The two "dirty boys" had the basement and their own bathroom. One day while all of us were watching a movie together, one of them used Jen's and My bathroom upstairs. I went in a bit later and there was dead crabs on the toilet. We knew he had them over a year before, but we thought he had killed them... we were wrong! Even though I had 900#'s blocked, the other dirty boy ran up $800 worth of phone calls on a long distance porn line to an Iowa # in less than 2 months. I had to sue him and garnish his paychecks to get it back. I have not lived with someone I was not dating since!

If its real you... can you find any proof? even what airline/company the jet belongs to by the rest of the markings. I searched and searched and could not verify either way. The only other place I found this pic is the asshat website. So, I still believe it is fake.

I agree. And besides, terrorists are masters of surprise. The next one will probably be the 5'9", 180lb, blond, blue-eyed, guy sitting 3 seats down that you talked about last nights football game with in the terminal--because you won't be looking at him.

I have to second that... the colors just don't seem right.

First of all Chris, I don't dislike you. Debating topics like this are not personal for me. Just fun and educational. As a fellow skydiver you are welcome here any time. The same would go for a French Skydiver... as long as I don't start getting ripped down by a verbal tongue lashing in the first 30 seconds of meeting. My dislike for French has nothing to do with propaganda, but was borne out of personal experience. I will always extend the same "Minnesota Nice" toward anyone no matter where they are from. However the stain of my past experiences with French speaking tourists will always remain. So I am sure I will be much quicker to judge. My whole rightest line of arguing was to try to bring poor Malev to the center a bit. Yes the French bash us--we're an easy target because we are bigger and get our way. Yes we bash the French for different reasons all the time, BUT it is much easier because they are generally not nice to people that don't speak French. That is made apparent by the article I linked earlier where the French Gov't. has begun an ad campaign to try to get is shop keepers and people that deal with tourists to not be so rude, and smile. The reputation of rudeness is not one that is made up by the US propaganda machine, it is one that was earned. Even the French Gov't acknowledges that. Those of you that speak French don't really have anything to worry about anyway, and have probably not seen it to the extent that non-French speakers have. Who's right in this argument? Absolutely NO ONE. Xenophobia... is a bit of a stretch. Are we completely innocent of the charges... No. Are the French innocent victims... No. Will throwing accusations of Xenophobia at Americans do anything but create backlash... No. Are all French asses... No. So the biggest question of all of this, what can be done to resolve the issues that are at the root of the cause? I actually think the French Gov't has the right idea with the ad campaign. I hope it works, and I commend them for taking the first step. If the French started being nice, it'd be pretty hard to mean to them... and the circle of name calling might actually stop. I hope it works.

"is this a bug hunt or a stand up fight?" If I'm a Xeno--for this thread at least, I shoot back and don't miss. So I'd say standup/duck for cover fight.

I was actually thinking German by my 3rd year... I used to dream in German too. That would tick me off because I remembered everything in my dreams and spoke so well. But, my vocab was not as strong as my grammar. So, in the conscious world, I was always running out of words.
-
Wow.. I said German was easier once you got the tenses down. That was not difficult for me. I guess for some reason it clicked. Maybe because my big problem with the English language is the spelling. German is phonetic. I LOVE IT! I wish English was as easily. And pretty much, anything is easy compared to English, or so I am told. I was watching that forklift video on the other thread... And the what little I did understand of it, I still "thought" in German.. And once you understand the rules, German is very logical. Unlike English that breaks all its own rules. The difference is, you are comparing apples to oranges... English to German. Splitting the word order is only backwards if you base it on what you are used to (I assume English is your first language) If you think in German and don't translate in your head, is not an issue. I cannot speak for Spanish or Italian, but once you understand the rules of German, you are good to go. Once you understand the rules of English, you still have to learn the other half of the language that does not follow the rules.

Yeah, but I picked it up and put it on someone's desk. I hope they don't chew their pencils!

Mine was literal, yours was reading into it. Damn, I slipped up. Ok you got me there, but Definition 3 only, not 1 or 2. Those are stronger. Yes we are, and as I've stated, my opinion has been formed by individuals... who whether they like it or not, represent their country when they come here. So have I, but the difference is I have met nice Americans. In my experience I have not met any nice french people. Ok I can see that. But without the input that you just gave me. That statement is quite offensive. How was I or any other person supposed to know it is not? Nothing is irrelevant. Arguing over stupid points still educates. And by the way... I'm skinny and really like cheese! Should I quit pushing your buttons now? The whole point of my argument is... by saying Xenophobic, you are creating a generalization. No different but opposite of the generalization that I dislike all french people because of few bad apples. You are no better or no worse than I am.
-
I don't believe I said I hated french. Just dislike. Hate is more of a deeply rooted word. Be mindful of your accusations. Well, that would be logical to dislike French people that are asses. So as long as I keep meeting asses I will dislike them. And when I meet nice french people I will like those french people that are nice. This is a poorly translated bit of French, And how exactly do you know this is poorly translated and not intended? Please state your evidence. Or, are you just misstating what you feel as fact without proof.

Well, a dictionary definition is not meant to be "interpreted." There is nothing to debate. Foreigners means foreigners--not people from a specific country/nation/race. So, it would appear that the OED and Websters are on the same page. Great, when I get the opportunity to meet them, then my opinion will change. But, not until I meet some nice french people. But every time I run across something like this quote from the ParaMag website when you click the english language link, it does nothing but reinforce my dislike. I would have to say that the french are more Xenophobic than we are. We/I are/am more "Frenchist" than anything else.
-
BZZZ wrong answer. Xenophobia is a scientific term, used to describe a specific condition. The definition I gave was the ONLY definiton listed in the Merriam-Webster's Dictionary. Which as I know, at least in the US, is a standard. The encyclopedia definition you picked up is proving my point exactly. It's definitions are more how the word is used not what is correct. Just because enough people use a word and twist the meaning to push a political agenda, does not make that usage correct. And btw... looking at that definition and several others in your source... I would have to say its a pretty biased source.

Actually this is natural, very productive part of human/animal psychology that ensures the continued survival of a species. If you touch the fire once, and it burns you, you don't keep touching every fire you see just because that one might be a nice fire. Learning a lesson from a few bad experiences just keeps you from repeating the experiences. This natural discrimination has been around for Millions of years, Political correctness... what maybe 50? Which one do you think is going to win? And the argument that we are more civilized because we are human is species-centric and untrue. We are still animals defined by the laws of nature/survival.
