Its says more about the electorate I've always assumed she got in via some sort of affirmative action program for the illiterate. And yet check out the academic credentials in her bio. (B.A, J.D., LLM-tax, practiced tax law, etc..) What a disconnect! On paper, she seems to be no intellectual slouch. Ah, but then, look at what influenced her during law school: born again Christianity via Anal Roberts U. My conclusion: religion made her go mad, and now she's wack. And, as Shah might say, such a waste of a nice piece of ass. Ooh, that wasn't crude of me, was it? Yet, in this case she may not be all that wrong. Both Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahri were strongly influenced philosophically by Sayyid Qutb, who was "...the leading member of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood in the 1950s and 60s". So if the Muslim Brotherhood, as an organized entity, is not directly involved, they are not blameless.

Nice article.

We should ONLY be ready to provide defensive support for our allies in the region in the event that the conflict in Syria spills over any their borders. We should get pre-approval from Congress ONLY to provide the ability, at our discretion, to deal swift, overwhelming, asymmetric, retaliatory strikes against any entity that uses the Syrian civil war as an excuse to attack those allies. We should not now be seeking approval from Congress for strikes on Syria for the alleged chemical attacks. Too late for that. I'm against the US attacking anyone at any time to "send messages" of any kind. The whole concept of a "measured" military response is ridiculous. ...IMO

Hey, at least you have a bike to be able to run over that nail. My shoe has a hole in the sole and the nail went into my foot. Poor me. Hey, at least you have a shoe and a foot. Some old Persians only have one or the other. Now you have a nail, too. (maybe a tetanus farm, too.)

You know what makes me sick? You know what makes me so mad I want to invent underpants for cattle – just so I can give a rodeo bull a wedgie? You know what my ol’ lady told me last night? I swear the woman’s been out in the sun too long. She got sun stroke…or just went daft. She tells me she’s got to go shoppin’…to get some new pants to wear around the house. Do I look like Bill Gates? Did we hit the lott’ry an’ she didn’t tell me? Number one…house pants are never bought. They are demoted. Your house pants are your runnin’ to town pants…after they get too many holes in’em. Am I right? You don’t sit around the house in new pants! That’s a waste a’ new pants. See – your regular, right-thinkin’ Americans got what I call a pants ‘system’. For you smart people out there…it’s like a hierarchy of pants. For example – you go to the Walmart an’ buy the nicest pair a pants you can find. I mean – you’re shellin’ out ten-fifteen bucks – an’ getting’ like the Cadillac a’ pants. Shiny an’ new…tight seams…pockets with bottoms in’em…zipper works…. You can go anywhere in them pants. You could go to the White House in them pants. Those are some nice pants. Then you start gettin’ a weak spot in the crotch…little holes at the corners a’ the back pockets…maybe a belt loop or two breaks. They get demoted to runnin’ errands pants. You can wear’em to like the convenience store to get beer an’ smokes…or to run through the McDonalds. You can cut grass in’em. But you can’t get married in’em no more an’ your ol’ lady won’t let you wear’em to church. Then that hole in your crotch opens up…every time you spread your legs, you feel the breeze. Set down – your whole knee is stickin’ out…an’ the zipper only goes halfways up. Every time you put your keys in your pocket – you lose’em in the driveway. They get demoted…to house pants. Which basically you can wear until you bend over an’ split’em wide open like a hog carcass at an Oscar Myer plant. Even your family don’t want to see that. Wake up, America. Then when them pants are done – you don’t get new house pants. You get new NICE pants…an’ all your pants shift down one. It’s a system, people. I’m Earl Pitts, American. Pitts Off. Disgraced ex-congressman Weiner says he's running for NYC mayor
muff528 replied to airdvr's topic in Speakers Corner
I think he should come down to Lakeland, FL and run for mayor here. If he wins he couldn't do much damage and the City employee Christmas parties would be epic. -
So, when he finally gets a name, he will be the Prince formerly known as "Baby Cambridge"? I'm in for Edward or Albert. A long shot might be Patrick or Sean.

IMO, one of the all-time best shows on TV. "Who's atomic bomb?"

I agree that "Understanding the trigger =/= justifying the reaction". I just don't know what "strawman" has to do with it. I do understand what you're saying, though. I just don't agree. However the poster was specifically responding to the comment in the letter that he highlighted, leaving no ambiguity over what irked him. i.e., Not that the author of the letter didn't understand some "trigger" that caused the attackers to act, but that he was too blind to understand their justification for the terror attacks against people who weren't engaged in any way against the attackers, and which occurred over the course of many years. And not just justification for the attacks ...but justification for the inhumanity of the attacks. "I don't fully understand their grievances and hate, but I know that nothing can justify the inhumanity of their attacks." Also, I'm not comfortable with continuing to discuss another member's comments without his participation. I think it's bumping up against the rules, too. Interesting topic, though.

Exactly the question I raised way back towards the beginning of this thread when SYG was being discussed. I think the defense pretty much abandoned the SYG aspect of self-defense early on.
-
OK. Not "theory" ..."scenario". My bad. "...reasonable doubt about who started the fight." ...advantage on that point: Defendant.
-
Where did I say it was Martin screaming? I don't remember saying that. Can you really not comprehend that the person starting a fight might not be the eventual winner? Just trying to see how it might fit into your theory since one of the central elements of the State's case was that TM was the one doing all the screaming.
-
So, in that scenario, when did Trayvon start screaming like a girl! Was it when puff-ball Zimm jumped up and bitch-slapped him or was it while he was handing Zimm's ass to him?

What "straw man"? After the 9/11 attacks on innocent people, The AA pilot, not a straw man, observed in his letter that Muslim "leaders", when asked whether they condemned those attacks, would do so with equivocation. "The very few Arab/Muslim representatives that HAVE appeared in the media were defensive and equivocating." ~ 10th paragraph. The author wrote that he didn't "understand their grievances and hate, but I know that nothing can justify the inhumanity of their attacks." No straw men there. Darius, not some straw man, pointed out that they do, indeed, have justification for the slaughter of 3000 innocent folks and, presumedly, for the terror attacks which occurred prior to that. I can only assume that he is agreeing with that justification since he apparently became disgusted with the author's inability to recognize the "death and destruction" which occurred at the hands of the USA during the prior 6 decades, and quit reading the letter. You'll have to ask him if I am interpreting his response wrongly. My short conclusion was that, since I have been schooled by Darius that the terrorist attacks targeting innocent non-combatants are justified, the drone attacks (mentioned earlier in the thread), on actual military/command targets which are intentionally intermingled among "civilians" must also be justified. I added further that those who are justifying the 9/11 attacks must also see the justification for the drone attacks. Maybe they do see justification for terrorist attacks on innocents but don't see it for the drone attacks. Hell, I don't know! I'm not making stuff (or straw men) up ...just reading what other people wrote.

Probably just a couple of nice fat Romeo y Julieta Habanas disguised as missiles. Probably to hide them from the crew. -

If the author of this post does not know the difference between an apostrophe before the "s" and one after the "s", then we might as well all slit our wrists. Maybe he's referring to one particular Progressive. (Maybe not)
