It seems to me that, during wartime, a person who is knowingly and intentionally publishing operational or political information that is sensitive or potentially deadly or damaging to that war effort should be considered to be a legitimate military target. I say take his ass out (also the "leakers" who are entrusted with this info). His motives are obvious to me. (My opinion only, of course). I would expect that the "other side" would do the same with a similar "irritant" undermining their cause.

Try Google or ask Rockwell. Nicht notwendig - es war rhetorisch. Wer ist Rockwell? I think the self-imposed title "Leader" had more to do with the Enabling Act and combining the Presidency and Chancellory than it did with simply being "Chancellor". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chancellor_of_Germany

Feds: Car-bomb plot busted at Portland tree lighting
muff528 replied to Amazon's topic in Speakers Corner
Looks like, according to the AP story, he was about to deploy a WMD. "Mohamud, a naturalized U.S. citizen living in Corvallis, was charged with attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction,.........." Saddam should have been trying to buy cake from Somalia rather than Niger. -
Yep. The quote was "They're our next-door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska." ...but, this was used to demonstrate her foreign policy credentials. Fey (who I never heard of until that skit. I quit watching SNL years ago when the writing went to sh*t) did what good lambasters do and lambasted her, albeit with more venom than humor.

I'm an expert at everything, I can see the library from my house.... Even I (a person who can't see a library from my house) am not dumb enough to believe she meant the "Russia" thing literally.

I agree with you in general. Though I am somewhat surprised people need justification to understand Sarah Palin is an idiot. Unless of course, they have been living under a rock. It may help the "under-rock dwellers" to list specific examples of Palin's actual actions or quotes/writings that would clearly demonstrate her idiocy. That would give her followers an opportunity to answer, defend or debate each charge of idiotic behavior. The same could be done for other politicians or public figures. That would at least move a discussion beyond unqualified name-calling. I would expect that the idiot label is not directly attached to the person's political alignment or occasional gaffe. The charges do not need to be restricted to idiocy. For example, incompetence, qualifications, dereliction, etc. could also be listed and discussed. I would expect that among adults a differentiation could be recognized between actual idiocy and political ideology (maybe not). That discussion might be an interesting read.

Anybody from Chicago missing a custom Spectre 150?
muff528 replied to SEREJumper's topic in Gear and Rigging
I remember one case (details a little clouded with time) where McN drove out to the jumpers who landed on his property and parked his vehicle on one of the rigs. He then, at gunpoint, ordered the jumpers to leave his property. The incident was later resolved with a some diplomacy but I think the rig was still damaged. Sounds like armed robbery or extortion to me. Maybe not. -
The aerial shots were great!

I have all of those mentioned.. as well as Fathom. Lets not forget the Annette Funichello and Frankie movie with the skydiving scene as well Ah, yes! "Beach Blanket Bingo" with Don Rickles as "Big Drop".

Yes, that and also the fact that the new "brilliant comrade" needs to show his military prowess and to elicit praise, adulation and support from the populace (who, themselves, probably need a distraction from their condition).

I really wasn't trying to make a political statement or lament the loss of JFK and "Camelot". (I am really not a fan of the Kennedys). Just trying to express the assassination of a President through the eyes of a 13 y.o. kid, who up until that time, grew up in an era when (most) American children were, for the most part, shielded from the "evils" of the outside world by parents who lived through the Great American Depression and WW2.

nothing is worse than watching a movie skydiving clip with skydivers in the room - they are unable to shut up and just let the movie play Years ago I went to the theatre with my dad to see "Memphis Belle". Occasionally throughout the movie, when he felt it was necessary, his comment "Bullshit!" could be heard by most of the people around us. Really it was just minor things that were changed/inserted to make the movie flow better but it wasn't realistic enough for his liking.

Clear the stabilizers. But more important, control the lines (especially the brake lines) when you are rolling the tail. Just make sure they don't come around to the front when you're pulling the fabric around. (I've propacked 2 lineovers while packing in the wind.)

Unfortunately, the course of alternate histories is pretty much unknowable. I remember that they gathered some of the classes in the library for some reason. A lot of the teachers were in tears. Most of us kids were blissfully unaware of the gravity of what happened. But, I remember seeing one of my friends who's family had escaped from Cuba. He was devastated. I realized then that something very serious happened and I distinctly remember havng a feeling of a loss of security for the first time.

So... what's "winter"?

Home sick from school, watching teevee in the living room when Walter Cronkite came on and said that the President had been shot. I went with my father to his office three (?) days later, and over the radio came the news that Oswald had been shot as well. Each was rather a paradigm shift, where "after" was significantly different from "before." BSBD, Winsor IIRC Kennedy was assassinated on a Friday and we watched Oswald get shot on live TV on Sunday, the 24th.

....on November 22, 1963? I was in Ms. Cosey's 8th grade art class. She said we were being so good that she was going to play the radio while we did our "art". Music played for a few minutes and then an announcer broke in and said "The President has been shot." That's all! The music program resumed and left us wondering what the heck happened.
