  3. All this empirical evidence, I'm going to burn my science books HEy Lucky. I'm very poor. Seriously. No lie. If I pm'd you my address would you send me a donation? www.FourWheelerHB.com
  4. This is true. Unfortunately, politicians are using the racecard for political gain. You can only cry wolf so many times before people stop believing you. Behaviour such as this only serves to be detrimental to the abolishment of racism. As you can see by my avatar I'm not white so let me ask you something. If someone who happens to be white disagreed with me and even went so far as to insult me by calling me a liar here on dz.com, would you consider the insulter to be racists simply because I have a darker complexion than him/her? No. But only because name calling and straight to the point insults here are very regular. If it were done in a place where such behavior is rare; I would consider it a strong possibility. And when a person has an easily discernible trend of always hating on people of the same nationality, race, sexual preference, etc; it is no coincidence. I heartily agree that any behavior that calls for differential treatment, advantageous or egregious, will continue to propogate racist attitudes. Is there an easily discernable trend with Wilson? Seriously pirana....help a brother out on this one because my mind is boggled that anyone would consider Wilson's outburst to be racist. www.FourWheelerHB.com

  7. Not at all. Playing the race card (when it isn't obviously a race issue) is not equal to being racist. Although, it is every bit as ignorant. www.FourWheelerHB.com
  8. What racial divide? A black man was just elected to the most powerfull office in the world over a white 'war hero/pow' and an attractive white woman who likes to hunt. Personally I think Obama and the democrats are purpetuating the racial divide as a means of further kicking the Republicans while they are down. I find it abhorrible, as well as ignorant, that any criticism of Obama is deemed racist in the name of politics. Let's not forget Obama told us exactly how he felt when asked about the incident between the Cambridge Police and Professor Gates. "I don't know, not having been there and not seeing all the facts, what role race played," Obama said Wednesday night while taking questions after a White House news conference. Cambridge authorities dropped disorderly conduct charges against Henry Louis Gates Jr. on Tuesday. Obama defended Gates on Wednesday night, while admitting that he may be "a little biased," because Gates is a friend. "But I think it's fair to say, No. 1, any of us would be pretty angry; No. 2, that the Cambridge police acted stupidly in arresting somebody when there was already proof that they were in their own home; and, No. 3 ... that there's a long history in this country of African-Americans and Latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately." The incident, Obama said, shows "how race remains a factor in this society." http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/07/22/harvard.gates.interview/index.html pretty telling in my opinion. www.FourWheelerHB.com

  11. Don't confuse moderation and posting. They are separate. Moderators are free to post whatever they want, within the forum rules, just like everyone else. They're expected to moderate as fairly as they can. But they are definitely not expected to post "fairly" (whatever that means) or not to have opinions on the topics of discussion. Yep...no different than those who attempt to stymie townhall discussion about healthcare through obnoxious behavior and intentional discussion derailment. Not against rules, however, it is ugly and unbecoming. www.FourWheelerHB.com
  12. It's an expression. Absurd is you, as intelligent as you are, not realizing this or, more likely, purposely twisting my words. www.FourWheelerHB.com
  13. Got to love it.... a thread about Obama's remark regarding Kanye West is quickly derailed by two moderators into a Republican bashing thread. That's complete bullshit and as moderators you both should know better. www.FourWheelerHB.com
  14. Ah yes the sarcastic one. Here ya go. And I only post this because I think you have a problem and I care. So why do wisecrackers keep their bons mots coming at the risk of alienating others? Though they may not be aware of it, sarcasm is their means of indirectly expressing aggression toward others and insecurity about themselves. Wrapping their thoughts in a joke shields them from the vulnerability that comes with directly putting one's opinions out there. "Sarcastic people protect themselves by only letting the world see a superficial part of who they are," says Steven Stosny, a Washington, D.C.-based therapist and anger specialist. "They're very into impression management." Because humor and hostility often come mixed together, it can be difficult to pinpoint a wisecracker's primary intent. "Sometimes sarcasm is humor—purely a Don Rickles kind of joking—and sometimes it's just innocently insensitive," Stosny says. "But other times, it's devaluing." Everyone benefits from a wisecracker's comic relief, but if you are the target of regular swipes, it's best to assertively call the joker out. His hilariousness doesn't give him the right to belittle you. Genesis of the Jibe "Just blurting out an insult is pedestrian at best," says Vacheh Joakim, an IT specialist in Los Angeles who prides himself on his sardonic wit. "But a sarcastic jab that can masquerade as a compliment is much more enjoyable, and it also gives the person being sarcastic a sense of superiority." Though Stosny and others theorize that such verbal jujitsu is rooted in insecurity, wisecrackers themselves, predictably enough, tend to admit feelings of inadequacy only indirectly. Joakim, for example, acknowledges the possibility of using sarcasm to compensate for shortcomings, but sidesteps a personal revelation: "Sarcasm doesn't help satisfy a Napoleon complex, but it does give you a little ego boost." Albert Katz, a cognitive psychologist at the University of Western Ontario, has recently looked at the wisecrackers' focus on one-upsmanship from a biological perspective, showing that people whose brains are best equipped to understand sarcasm tend to have aggressive personalities. Subjects who scored high on aggression tests showed different patterns of brain activity in response to sarcasm than those who did not. The differences suggest that the aggressive subjects were processing nonliteral meaning more quickly. "Sarcasm is definitely a dominance thing—it's related to being top dog," Katz says, both for initiators of sarcastic banter and those who catch on and offer a retort. http://www.psychologytoday.com/articles/200706/field-guide-sarcastic-masters www.FourWheelerHB.com
  15. Never said I didn't. Wilson did the country a favor although in a very disrespectful manner. So I can forgive his outburst. Falling on one's sword for the sake of the country is admirable. Sadly that's what it took to get the dems to listen. Kanye West IS a jackass and my respect meter just went up a couple points for Obama. www.FourWheelerHB.com

  17. Being a Ducks fan, I don't like it. I would have preferred Healtey stayed in the east. Especially considering our shutdown line and D isn't what it was during out Stanley Cup run. The Ducks face the Sharks the first game of the season on October 3rd at the Honda Center so I guess we;ll see then what kind of affect Heatley will have. www.FourWheelerHB.com
