oh, i know how you feel. this trike is awsome. we flew yesterday for 2 hours...hands off conditions. smooth air. touched down in a few dry lake beds...played with some hot air balloons...all on 4 gallons of gas! ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

...you could do a hands off landing with that, couldn't you? A guy showed me how to flare one of those once at an aviation fair...but I'd guess you could fly it into the ground without too much damage, couldn't ya? You're not going all that fast, right? i cruise at about 45-50 mph airspeed. the wing is set for a slight climb, so if you are power on full, you will climb with your hands off the controls. the glide ratio is 11 to 1....this thing wants to stay up all day. we regually go up to 5000 agl and shut down the engines...and glide it in. and even if you do have the engine running on landing, it is at an idle...just in case you have to abort the landing and go around.

Just saying that spending money on depreciatable items is just that...spending money, plus the interest. Investing money, ie. buying houses, having some renter pay for them, and also paying for my toys is how I clasify success. Depending on what plane she was flying, she might have just grabbed the flap handle and lowered them. Some aircraft flaps are a direct mechanical linkage from handle to flap with no electrical required. Oh wait . . . it was all a dream. My wife and I are one of those pet freak families that home cooks for our dogs. Besides the once a week cooking day, which simply involves a pressure cooker and a blender...the cost of home cooking is actually less expensive than a midgrade dog food. Our dogs skin and coats improved, and becuase the food is easier to digest...they actully pooped less! It really amazes me what people will feed thier pets, but then again, two days ago in the grocery store I walked by this overweight 2 year old sitting in a cart, eating a powdered donut and he had soda in his bottle...I kid you not. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

Having a swooper take out me or my wife is my biggest fear in jumping. She has been extremely close to being take out at Perris...we dont jump there anymore. How anyone can argure that swoopers and "standard" canpoy flyers can and should occupy the same airspace is beyond rediculas. I love to watch swoopers, very very cool. But just as I would not stand in the middle of the Daytona speedway lanes, in the path of the cars, I watch the swoopers from a safe area,.. the ground, not the air. Although that is not always safe either. This weekend a swooper nearly crashed into the otter mock up where I was jumping. I also fly ulralights. I fly with 4 to 5 other aircraft, much less than a full otter load. Even with strobs and marker smoke, it is still easy to loose sight of fellow ultralights, but we (our group) all have radios to inquire the other aircraft location. To bad we cant do that under canopy. So, separation is the most straight forward and basic solution. In short. I land FAR away from where I know swoopers are going, and have eliminated close calls to date. I feel this self taken action has greatly increased my safety. I get hot and sweaty walking back, but it is worth it. Accidents do happen, but I take action to make them not happen. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

when it doubt, land out. you can always land away from the crowds....my wife and I do, and avoid boogie weekends where the drugs and alcohol are more prevelent. i feel eloy is a good place, very big landing areas (two), i land in the student area to avoid swoopers, and i have a D license. same reason i jump and elsinore over perris...larger grassed landing area, more room, less chance of collisions. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

check the requirements for the traffic school. after doing many many traffic schools online, here in southern cal. it is now required that you go to a testing facilty to take the actual test, after you have done the class online. no more drinking and testing and the same time. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

We have two boxers, used to fart alot when we fed them "dog food." We now feed them homecooked meals, gas has disappeard completely, thier coats are better, and overall mood is better too. Oatmeal solves the gas problem. We feed them in the morning with cooked and blended chicken livers and eggs. We cook a batch once a week, and make the oatmeal fresh in the mornings. Then in the afternoon they get cooked brown rice and blended chicken. It may sounld like alot of work, but its not, and thier health is so much better. And, it is actually the same price or cheaper than decent dog food, but then again, some people just go to Walmart and buy the cheapest crap off the shelf. quote for picture "Look, my ass does not smell!" ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

check REI.com or go to one of thier stores. thier employees are knowledgible. they have very light to heavy, 2 to 4 season, big, small...all the good stuff. also, if you go with and REI brand...its pretty much guaranteed. I have brought back item after several uses, of which I was not happy with the preformance, and they took it back no problem, but then, I was always purchasing another model.
