  1. I don't think I was there for your jump. Mike is still around, I jumped with him a few weeks ago. It was in Jan-03, when there was that cold snap that came through, and then followed us down to the bahamas! buurrrrr! There we were, sitting on the beach in the Bahamas on our honey moon, bundled up in jackets. Please say hi to Mike for us if you see him. Thanks, Jonathan & Jenni ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
  2. i wouldnt worry if i were you, and, we are simular. i too dont and never do drugs...i dont want to miss a thing! i hear ya on being "aware"...like driving down the busy highway, and actually being able to see the hawk sitting on a power line, the unusual cracks in the road, or the small dent on the car that just past you...i see it too. embrace jumping in the same way. i love jumping all types of aircraft, looking at the controls, the guages, the scratches from wear, the history of the plane. in the beginning, skydiving can somewhat take over your life....but then the urge evens out with the rest, it becomes mellow, it becomes...normal. jumping for me has become like a nice hike, a great motorcycle ride, a smooth flight in my ultralight...a good glass of wine. we have a sticker on our car that puts it best..."Skydive, not to escape life, but to keep life from escaping you." by the way, we got married in Deland, in the skyvan...did I meet you Skymama? and is marlboro mike still around? ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

  4. Yep, thats what it is all about. I and going to press "Ctrl-ALt-Del" tommorrow, as in I am going jumping!
  5. my trike is over the 254 lb limit, and carries more than 5 gal of fuel... anyway, i want to be able to legally carry a passenger
  6. personally, i went with the trike...simirigid wing, and power to punch through thermals. and, i like to cover ground, the trike has a cruising speed of 45 to 50 mph. i have had some thermals hit my skydiving canopy...scary! but i also went with the trike because after N-numbering it, and getting sport pilot rated, i can carry a passenger. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
  7. its all about the details. i am a nut when it comes to how the finished product looks. but, it does take time to learn what to do and when. flyindawg, make sure the texture guy tapes off the baseboard, doors, and casing before he/she sprays ( if they are using a texture gun) ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
  8. Are you going to hand texture the walls? When I build, the wall texture gets applied, THEN, then doors get set, then door casing and baseboard. Just wondering. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

  10. yep, live up in the high desert...east of LA...Hesperia, CA ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
  11. yes, i have a BRS system. it cost me about 20K to get into the sport...15 for a used trike, 3 for BRS, about 2 or less for training. better than spending 25 on a Harley! ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
  12. if you find yourself in that mood...think like a soldier..."I WILL BEAT THIS, I WILL PUSH ON! GET UP...MOVE, AND GO....SKYDIVE!" hang in there brother. Thanks bro
  13. but its a hella of alot to fly! some picw with me and my friends this morning in the desert. cheers! ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?

  15. i took prozack after my wife passed away...it really did nothing for me, except make me stay up all night, and gave me dry mouth. where ever you are now, you will move on, you will change, it may not be the change you exactly want, but, time passing is acutally a good thing, in my opinion. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
  16. I am an ultralight flyer, soon to be registered as an E-LSA. My group, the EAA, is also is trying to get this voted down. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
  17. if it is flat, i want to make one last jump (would that be considered base?) of the edge. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
  18. to quote the the sport pilot limitations..."a sport pilot may not operate as pilot in comand of a LSA that is carrying a passenger or property for compensation/hire, for compensation or hire, or in furtherance of a business" the only person that i would ever let jump is my wife(or me vice versa), and she is 50% owner of the aircraft, as well as a student pilot. this is not something we would do all the time, as in a oraganized operation. and i would file a notam, so far i dont see any rules against a partial owner, jumping from thier own LSA. I have been told by a leading trike instructor that this would all be OK by the FAA. I just get alot of different opinions, so I keep wondering. your thoughts? ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
  19. i fly a trike, Solwings Aquilla, 15M wing, with Rotax 582 power plant. and will be getting n-numbered this year, due to the fact that it is a "fat ultralight" over the 254 lb max, and will be sport pilot rated. it will fall into the E-LSA catagory. the tirke climbs at 700 fpm with student pilot and instructor. 1100 fpm solo...crazy fast for what it is. once i am sport pilot rated, will i be able to legally let my wife jump, or vice versa? i currently fly in class G airspace, way out in the desert .whats your opinion? no monies exchange hands, as in, no compensation...as stated under the sport pilot rules. and, we dont fly above the 10,000ft max. we have though about this, but will not even go beyound that until i have several hundred hours, ...i am now at 50+ hours, just a grasshoper. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
  20. not to worry people...its coming to your area of the country...just a matter of time. oh...you can get around the smog laws out here if your drive a 400 hp pre 1974 vehicle...like i do... ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
  21. actually, paper maps, such at "thomas guides" have built in errors. this is to prove copy right violations if another company simply copies the map information. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
  22. Where is that? If I like it, I'll probably go for the advanced stuff, but I'm not even sure if I'll like it yet (though I think I will!). And the night stuff sounds really cool... sorry, Laguna Beach, CA. "Divers" Cove is a very basic dive....30-40 feet, decent reef. it is a shore dive, where you enter through the waves. the night diving is like night jumping...it really awakens your senses. plus, at night you will see more aquatic life. last dive we spotted some small sharks...nice ones though...not great whites! where are you located? ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
  23. I used to work at a company, Navtech, that makes the navigational databases...so if you get bad directions...its my fault. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
  24. my wife and i got certified 2 years ago, and dive laguana regually. once you get certified, go get your advanced dive, rescure dive, tech dive...and other certs...contiuned training is really good. oh, and we dive at night, when all the cool preditors and neat stuff is out! ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him?
