Go and find it out! A reserve usually has less than 10 jump altogether and flies and lands better. Anyway this topic is not about reserves.

I did know _everything_, than got a lession about a break surge.... Have you heard it? If you don't have it in your head you will have it in your leg.... Observing that someone is breaking himself in panic? Its almost as good as you'd do for yourself. I was not teaching there I happened to be on place. Those skygods might have been flying something else as a first canopy than a Cobalt135. If its for free.... Even a Navigator flies better than those. You can find used ZP or Hybrid canopy for cheap. Getting bored? What a nice reason to downsize!

Well, If you missed the answer read me first post, the short answer was there...

PD 7 or 9 cell is a piece of history. What on where? You not suppose to load an F1-11 canopy more than 1.0. How about reading the warning label on the canopy before you pack? Go ahead, an ankle heals fast, about 4 month off....
-
Oh, yeah. I can tell you. I was 100% confident, than !@$!%@#%, ambulance, hospital and I have a steel plate with 4 screws for good. ........... Don't tell me! A year after I have seen the same canopy in action. It was some light guys first jump. I had a bad feeling, but I was not a jump master. He got radio as guidance, he was coming towards the forest, than panic flare at 5-8m than drop from there. He got a broken ankle and I was holding his leg until ambulance arrived.
-
That's for sure. That's one way to learn what break surge is about.

I did break my ankle on a Navigator 220 ~WL 1.0 at jump number 87. Oh, I know he is special....
-
You got it right. WL is not like pi or e for dozen of digits. I don't think even the 2nd decimal has any sense. If I were you I'd choose a 260(280) or 240 with those jump numbers you have. It depending the DZ elevation too.

Yes, thats the key I think. If you don't have enough you may bring some cones with you. What a pity winds are not consistent.
-
So what is the big deal? If its not a cross-country jump we don't leave lets say 5 km radius of the airport, so our ground person can see if someone is landing out. How often do you land out? Jumping with an emergency bacon sounds like jumping with a floatation device in the desert.

"In-Between" canopy size?????
phoenixlpr replied to nicolesheridan's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
The key could be break settings. I have a Cobalt 135. I could completely shut it down in no wind, but I was pulling some tail if I was pulling front risers down. I have about 400 jumps on the original Spectra line-set. I got my breaks lengthen by 5cm, I seem to lost a little flare, but not pulling tail with front. That could be your case too. So get line-set specs and measure it. You may check if you pull tail with fronts, you might get your lower break lines shorten a bit than... -
I have seen this magic by Brian Germain. The owner of the canopy told that his canopy opened lot better after that.

Original url is from here.

It should not be a bad choice. I had about 380 jumps on one. I loved it much.

Here are some pictures if you need ideas.

Cobalt is said to fly big too without winglets. Winglets said to be hype by others.

I had my advanced packing course like you.

Rinsing salt water out in chlorinated water?
phoenixlpr replied to hackish's topic in Gear and Rigging
Why don't you use rain water instead? Don't eat spectra lines, your stomach acid might damage it. -
Why do you want to? There's other, less revolutionary of controlling the material: Wolmari-pack and reverse S-folding. BTW I had a Pilot, its a good choice, but not so easy to pack it if its new.
-
And that's what you call positive attitude. heh? I was told the 3 golden tool of dealing with kids: threatening, blackmailing, bribing..... I see your favorite. I have seen 2 kind of people under canopy over here: 1. skydiver 2. canopy pilot Than you may classify people under canopy by their jump numers or currency vs WL: A: OK B: Too high Than you may have 4 group from these. Where do you put your dead_an_walking ? How about the risk of those groups? How about you take the attitude in account? Cool guys(heads) vs. hot shots?

Mine is Cobalt. My list is Vision, Cobalt. That's kindda short list.... I should get my on more

How about the one you have, you fly, you love?
