  1. Hi, I had an incident. I was jumping with a gear I wanted to buy. It was my 3rd jump with it. I was told to open high: 1500m. It was ~550 jumps in the canopy/line-set and no AAD. I was the last to leave the plain with 8sec separation after a student-JM RW pair.I had a harder opening and broken lines on the left side/tail. The slider went just half/third way down. The canopy started to turn to the right. That was the point Ive decided that the canopy was not landable. Ive cuted away an opened reserve. I shouldve opened a bit early, because I had a line twist. Ive seen that bitch flying and the freebag falling. Ive kicked out the line twist. I couldnt chase the main or the freebag, because there was not any place to land in that area: village, lake, swamp, high-way, railroad, high-tension lines and forest. The main and freebad is still missing, not recovered. Ive checked my ProTrack I was deployed at 1250m. Im still wondering if Ive done the right thing. One thing is sure: Im writting this lines and I had not even a scratch. i think my health worth more than 800Euro that Ive lost.
  2. Take the other approach: which rig is safe? Any on the ground :)
  3. I can feel FUD around psycho-pack. Some of my friends from Hungary are telling me, that "why not, its fine you can do it". Most freinds from Finland are telling that I should not even try and telling me stories about line breaks, line-overs, extreme openings......do you wanna be a test jumper stuff. I cant understand what makes so big difference for them on bagging a bit different. Safe landings
  4. yeee I had rides with PZ-81, PdF Magic and Glide Path Cricket. I cant remember any hard or extreme opening.
  5. Stop and think again! How was it 12 years ago with the brand new Cypress ? Something like this.....
  6. Ive heard a story about the opposite thing. Canopy with incorrect stow. The result was constant stall in opening, solution: open breaks. :)
  7. I agree. You may buy cool toy 4 save your life, but you cannot get another life.....
  8. Thanks 4 your answer. Anyway dont let you confused! Im Hungarian but living in Finland :)! Im living in Lappeenranta and jumping in Immola(next to Imatra). Safe landings
  9. Because your canopy controll will have a big progresion in the first 50-80 jumps. I wouldnt recommend any gear WL over 0.9 or 1.1 with a jump number ~10-15. After 50-80 jumps you may handle a canopy with WL 1.1-1.3. It flies better, its a bigger fun to fly those. Just count: what is cheaper: rent for 50-80 jump or buy now and sell at least the main after 100 jumps?
  10. #32. I had sleeping problems and failed to identify a good, working canopy and I chopped it. Anyway it was something unusual around it. I landed with a triangular PZ-81.
  11. Im one of the smallest "fish" there. Im about to buy my first rig. Ive just learnt how to ProPack. The first part is cool, organized and fast. But on the ground that a same mass like before. Out bigger fishes are rather conservative in packing: flat-pack for students, Pro-Packing for them.......... Thanks for your answer anyway.
  12. Ive read this: http://precision.aerodynamics.com/psycho/psycho_pack.htm. Ive some things unclear: Step 11:"Here's a good look at the bridle attachment ring at the center of the roll. It would help if you had a six inch extention with a supplemental bag-stop ring . You will see why in the next step." Im jumping with a rig without any bridle attachment ring or supplemental bag-stop ring. I got the point of Step 12 to put ring to ring. So what to do? Do I have to get something like that there? Is it inportant to get a "six inch extention with a supplemental bag-stop ring" or is it a good to have? What are the pitfalls of PsychoPack ?
  13. It makes no sense. You can roll or not roll both ways.
  14. Hey! You survived! Thats the main point. You can get more cables....but you cannat get new life for cables!!!
  15. You should know to things: - Time is not your friend. - It almost does not matter what way to put it in if you keep the essential part: lines in the bottom or lines in the middle. Or it even can be rolled check psychopack. I can try to draw it. Packing nazis might crucify me. I. Make a bit narrower than the D-bag. Lay on it push the air out. Start the S in the 2nd third like the arrow. II. Put your knee on the top and push the air out and turn the material inside like those arrows. III. thats from the top: turn the top of the canopy inside, but leave the bridle out. You get something like IV. V. Put one corner into the D-bag, arrange the bridle to the ring at the D-bag. Push the air othot from the other side and oush it into the D-bad. VI.. If its too much still outside: push in like VII/1 and turn the corners(VII/2) inside the D-bag like VII/3. So dont let it a single moment!
  16. I1m sorry. If I am right there`s no new cypress in the market just cypress2. They had some improvments like 4 years battery cycle. So that way its even cheaper.
  17. Why? You cn compare Sabre and Spectre. They are in the same class, similar trim.....
  18. Stop compairing apples to perrys! Lighting is a CRW canopy. You should know the CRW canopys are not famous for good flare power, they trimmed differently.
  19. Hi, Im looking for my first rig to buy. One option is Merit 170. I`m 89Kg. Ive found very little review about PdF Merit. Have you tried it? Safe landings.
  20. " It's better to chop and be wrong, then to not chop and become an active thread in the incidents forum..." from:http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=646303;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread
  21. Yeah, And the result that way is 0. No jump, no deployment altitude...... It was a hop`n`pop jump anyway.
  22. Thanks for translating English to English. English is not my native.
