Hysteresis, or Why sometimes you barely move forward
phoenixlpr replied to yuri_base's topic in Wing Suit Flying
We don't want to have constant reading, do we? We might able to fly better if we could have some realtime feedback. Think about those days when altimeter was not available, just a stopwatch! Has it made a big impact on our sport? -
Hysteresis, or Why sometimes you barely move forward

Look, he has a hammer, so everything started to look like nails.... We don't have to measure everything like your happiness in flight. So how about finding some feasible tool for comparing flight performance? We can use GPS, because they are commercially available and affordable. I don't think that would be so hard to make a set of sensors for recording airspeed and temperature in flight. -
I don't agree with him. The usual policy is do not open higher than you agreed on jump organizing. He should have known that tracking up or down in the flight line is a major no-no. Ask your mentor or instructor about this issue.

Hysteresis, or Why sometimes you barely move forward

It was not how to fly by instruments. Our problem domain is how to collect valid information about our flights. -
Hysteresis, or Why sometimes you barely move forward
phoenixlpr replied to yuri_base's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Aye! So were should it be installed? On the helmet? Does turning head has effect on measuring right values? -

As I told before, we have to install pilot tube on our helmets to receive proper air speed readings. -

So? I have logs that show cruising with a speed of sound. I went downtown with my car.... -

I have a bridle shorter than 2m, but a 32" F111 kill-line PC on it. I had no trouble with it.

Vignetting in RFCONCEPTS 2.9mm bullet cam.
phoenixlpr replied to jadaj's topic in Photography and Video
Hm. I think I have it too with 2.9 and 3.6mm lens. I have not used with skydiving just indoors with TV, I have not noticed any effect like that. -
Oh! Mamy I got no middle name. Oh, no! Your parents just eventually spit the name Spizzzarko, when they did see you as a baby with long ears and nose.

I got the exact same lesson from my first elliptical canopy: do not reach, do not touch. Or does reaching matters with the usual BASE wingload?
-
I'm happy that you are calm and certain about your gender, because are not so... ...you picked your name.

Another attempt by the media to over-dramatize skydiving
phoenixlpr replied to peek's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Sure, I have an original and authentic video about Leonardo Da Vinci flying his latest parachute design.
