Fish heads, Fish heads, roly poly fish heads.....
quack replied to SpeedRacer's topic in The Bonfire
Holy shit. I recall seeing that video when it first came out on Much Music (the poor cousin of MTV). It looked kind of neat until the actual fish heads came on. Then I checked my meds... I'm still getting used to the fact that Bonnie's married and stuff..... How are ya anyway?

? what's that all about? The video for that A-ha song was something along those lines. Blues, Dave Geez. Thanks Dave. Now I have that song running through my head. It wasn't really grounds for losing any guy card, since the hero in the vid got all bashed up with pipes and wrenches and whatnot. But you have to understand, mental illness is like cholesterol. You're right. The first time I went to Brussels I didn't care much for it. But last year I had another visit and if you get in the right spots, it's far more entertaining than Amsterdam. Amsterdam has the reputation and it's almost like going to Disney now. Brussels has some weird shit going on. But you have to understand, mental illness is like cholesterol. Basically there is a hydrophilic (water loving) part of the soap molecule and a hydrophobic (water hating) part. The hydrophobic part attracts the grease, oils, or whatever you want to wash away and sort of latches on to it. The hydrophilic part makes the whole mess water soluble, so you can rinse it away with water. There are no enzymes involved. But you have to understand, mental illness is like cholesterol. Who's Strep Throat, and why do you need him along for the trip? Seriously, that sucks. Water and sleep, whenever you can. The salt water gargle can help, too, while you're waiting for the amoxicillin to do its job. But you have to understand, mental illness is like cholesterol. There is the good kind and the bad. What is something you got suspended for in high school ?
quack replied to shortyj's topic in The Bonfire
The school football team I played for got trounced 78-0, on the road. On the bus ride back to our town we got gunned on booze and a few guys had some dope as well. One of our teammates ratted us out and there was a big inquiry. It was a Catholic high school so they took it pretty seriously. So we all got suspended for three days. And then there was the time I burned down a field near the school.... But you have to understand, mental illness is like cholesterol. There is the good kind and the bad. That high on a Lightning? I mean really - exit at 1800 with a Lightning canopy and you're open at 2000! I do know Steve Morrell once jumped his Lightning from a plane at somewhere around 250 feet - they definitely open faster than reserves! W Yup! I wouldn't take my spider-slider, no-D-bag Lightning 126 to terminal! But you have to understand, mental illness is like cholesterol. There is the good kind and the bad. The focus changed on the roadtrip down to Zhills for the CRW camp...decided to spend the entire weekend doing 2 ways and focus on proficiencies which will help me for my future goals of Nationals next year and the Womens Record in May 08. So we worked on things such as offsets, utilizing outside front riser, sacheting (sp?), and strategies for various scenarios that I would be dealing with...so it turned out to be more educational and I'm pleased with the progress. Started the weekend out on a 176 (which I was on for my first two camps), then went to a 160 since I was so floaty, and I was still floaty and had to work really hard on front risers to stay with other canopies...so once I switched out to the 143, I was much more compatible and stood my landings up quite nicely. All in all, a great weekend in which I learned a lot which was my ultimate goal. That sounds like a damned good way to spend a weekend!

I feel your pain. At least you got answers that were somewhat related to the question. Hopefully you don't get comparable answers to sift through like I've had recently. One student in a third year university class in food microbiology gave this answer on a midterm (the actual question I don't need to supply, as you will see): Answer: "the total number of organisms could be many different species in one sample so it is important to kill for many different types with many different temperatures (+sometimes pressure). For sterilization, it is best to use a high resistence (sic) endospore (like Bacillus stearothermophilus) to make sure everything is dead" (the actual answer to the above was "0.02") But you have to understand, mental illness is like cholesterol. I came across this in my travels on the interweb. It's interesting in that you have to make a choice between two equally shitty things. See how you compare with everyone else, when you must choose. WHOA sport... hang on .. you will be at Terminal velocity doing that... Just go up and get out of the plane on a hop and pop at 3500 to 4000'.. the dynamics are completely different from a subterminal opening and a full speed terminal opening..try it you like it... I love cold when I'm skiing. Keeps the crowds away. And I see we finally got on the podium at Lake Louise for the season opener.

We had to bail once at around 1600' (aircraft problem) but we were also on Lightning 126's and used to competition CRW exits. Being comfortable at lower altitudes is a good thing, if there is some sort of emergency. But there's a reason USPA has a 2000' minimum, to give you proper time to deal with things (CSPA is set at 2200', but the extra 200' makes little practical difference). I'm a supporter of H + P's from 3000' to 3500'. Many skydivers have told me they are very uncomfortable with low altitude exits, because they've always jumped from higher up. I think some of it stems from being unfamiliar with it. Some of it is not realizing that you're also at subterminal, and thus have a bit more time to deal with the shit if it happens. Hm. Only 1.15 according to Gore. But then he never had options for outside the US. That seems pretty good, as a Canuck, until I got to the BP site. 11.4! Still below the national average.
