Dude, perhaps your physical body has grown to adulthood but it seems that it left the rest behind. I dont think you are in a position to judge someone elses maturity, if I can use your comments as a measure of your own maturity.

They forgot that damn stupid word they use in place of hat How would you spell it? Touk? Tuke? Tuuk? Touque? Gah! What a stupid word!

I have heard that the Hornet can give hard openings but that through packing technique can be controlled. I cant advise as to which packing method provides the softest openings but you might want to explore this option

It was Jamie Sommers, and the fact is, she wasnt all that good at skydiving. Thats why she became the bionic woman if you recall. She had a streamer and rode it all the way in. No attempt at a cutaway.

The BIONIC WOMAN! Man, I'm old

No people who rely on them are rediculous. If someone will not jump without one, then they are placing way to much fait on it. I agree with the concept on paper I understand what you are saying and I agree in spirit. But what if that one jump that they were forced to make without the AAD turns out to be the one where they need it. They smack their head on the door/tail/jumper/migrating goose, and are knocked out. Then they die when they might have lived. You are 100% correct. People should take responsibility for saving their own lives and not rely on an AAD to do it for them. But theres no way to reasonably force people to do that. Its not reasonable to demand that someone intentionally make a jump with a narrower margin of safety just to prove to someone else that they are willing to do so, because if that does turn out to be the one jump that the AAD was meant for, then the person that forced them to not use it is a murderer. Increased reliability and safety will breed complacency in some folks. Its human nature and cant be avoided. The best anyone can do is teach students the best you can and hope that they listened. Forcing folks to jump with no AAD doesnt really change anything. It doesnt make the sport safer. It wont make people less complacent. It COULD cause someones death. I only have 57 jumps. The first 20 were on student gear with an AAD, the next 37 were on my first rig with no AAD or RSL. I can do it both ways too. Still, even though I agree with your concept of forcing personal responsibility, I would never support a requirement that would force someone to jump with no AAD in order to prove themselves. If such a requirement existed, I would simply never get my D because I would certainly refuse to turn off the AAD that I worked so hard to buy just to prove something to someone else

ALL of mine are from a 185 and a 206. I'm looking forward to jumping a big fat Otter or skyvan in the near future, but I like the Cessnas

Ditto here...Although mine is 20 steps if I stop in the kitchen for breakfast after the comode stop. Life is good

Its always good to take a laugh break mid-afternoon

Congrats! :-) I've had DSL for 4 years and I'll NEVER go back. No cable service though, dont want it. Yukk.

pack volume would be measured in cubic inches, rather than square feet. ZP usually packs larger because its much harder to get all the air out of it. I believe 7 cell packs smaller because there are less lines mostly and ribs between the cells etc.

I work from my house. My desk is approximately 20' below my bed (In my basement) . This commute, if I dont let my dog out to whiz, takes me approximately 37 seconds.

I love it. The amiable cheese loving nation. I'm imagining them "furiously" smoking unfiltered cigarettes

Unless you are starving, earn about 50 bucks a year, and regularly have to worry about bombs falling on your home a killing your family members, and you are not free to believe in whatever you like, then you really have very little to complain about. Without knowing anything at all about your life I can safely speculate that if you can fit skydiving into your life, you are better off than about 95% of the planet. A little perspective can be a good thing God hasnt pissed on you at all. He has blessed you beyond measure.

I don't buy into the biblical stuff, but it is kind of eerie when they start talking about implanted "medical" identification chips. There's a family in Florida beta testing them now. Never see one of those devices buried under my skin or that of my family members if I have a say in the matter
-
JT, at 29 years old you ARE one of those young bucks
-
You are right on with this one

Why not explain it better right now? I dont have a problem being wrong. I'm quite good at it as a matter of fact If I AM wrong, I would enjoy the opportunity to learn more.

My inexperienced feeling is that going from a 1:1 wingload to a 1.38:1 is a MONSTER change. Too monstrous. Common sense and opinion say not to change size and planform at the same time, nor to downsize more than one size at a time. Your proposed change kinda goes against everything I've ever read

I realize that its not just like lifting weights. I can make a few assumptions though. I can take a 60 lb dumbell in each hand and without using any momentum or body english, while seated, lift them both from my sides to above my head in one slow continuous motion to full extention. This is 60 lbs in addition of the weight of my arms, which do weigh close to 20 lbs. This makes each arm weigh approximately 80 lbs. In this case, the majority of the weight is at the very end of my arms. If this were simply my empty arms at 3 times the normal gravitational force, my arms would weigh LESS than this and also the weight would be evenly distributed throughout my arms, not all concentrated at the ends where the weights are. This consentration of the weight at the very ends actually makes the scenario even harder. In reality, lifting my arms at 3 g would be easier than the scenario I described which I CAN do. The movement with the weights is not theoretical. I would suggest that if a person cannot lift their arms at only a little over 1 g, that makes them the poster child for my argument. I'm not trying to be a smart ass, I am simply taking what I already know I can do for a fact and comparing it to what you are saying. The increase in force necessary to move against increasing force of gravity might not be exactly linear, but I dont believe that its geometric or exponential either. I believe I could raise my arms while sustaining 3 g's In reality I believe I could do it under even higher g's than that. I'm just using 3 in my argument because of the claim that just over 1 would be too much for me. We have kinda gotten off the main thrust of my post here Bottom line, I believe that greater strength can save your butt in a high speed spinning mal. Greater fitness in general can enhance enjoyment, peformance, and safety as well.

It would take considerably more than a little over 1 g to pin my arms. Assume for the sake of argument that my right arm weighs 20 lbs. At 2 g it will weigh 40 lbs at 3 g it will weigh 60 lbs etc etc. Without mentioning how much I can lift , I absolutely guarantee that even at 3 g I can raise my arms from my sides all the way to over my head. This would not be necessary to pull my cutaway handle.
