When one is correct, there is no need to modify one’s argument.

Bill, climate related deaths are a fraction of what they were a hundred years. Down more than 95%. Cold kills more than heat and we produce more food than ever. Deaths from insect borne diseases are a fraction of what they used to be. Where are you getting your information?
-
That is what you said 15 years ago. BTW people like me will have their way much more than the people like you will have theirs. The EU doesn’t matter, the US doesn’t matter. The real game is in the developing world — China, India, and Africa. If those countries thought CO2 was an existential threat they might do something more than build FF fired power plants. They obviously made the calculation that poverty is more of a threat than plant food.
-
Then you can’t claim “nobody is saying that” Nobody gives a toss about what you or I have to say. What counts are the people in the position to spend/waste trillions dollars have to say. That said, just how much of an existential threat do you think a few ppm of CO2 is?

How about “The world is going to end in 12 years if we don't address climate change, and your biggest issue is how are we gonna pay for it?” AOC And that what Kerry was referring to. Factual, not dishonest.
-
“The scientists told us three years ago we had 12 years to avert the worst consequences of climate crisis. We are now three years gone, so we have nine years left," Kerry said.” That would be John Kerry the US’s climate envoy. Just to be clear he said “the worst consequences” not just consequences but the WORST ones.

Yes I know. Weather is what is happening now, climate change is the cooling and heating of the planet over time. All of that is true. What I am saying is, that on the whole, higher CO2 and slightly warmer temperatures have been good for humanity. Standard of living has gone up, life expectancy has gone up, deaths from climate related disasters has plummeted >95% in the last century and food production is at an all time high. I just don’t get the whole “the world is literally going to end in nine years” nonsense.

Now it is politicians

The models say what ever their creators want them to say. Observation says the earth is getting greener and deserts are shrinking. (Contrary to the dire predictions). BTW plants are more efficient with their water in a higher CO2 environment. ”As the air's CO2 content rises, many plants reduce their stomatal apertures, because with more CO2 in the air, they don't need to open their stomates as wide as they do at lower atmospheric CO2 concentrations to allow for sufficient inward diffusion of CO2 for use in photosynthesis. As a result, plants growing in CO2-enriched air typically exhibit reduced rates of transpirational water loss, smaller productivity losses attributable to the indiscriminate uptake of aerial pollutants, and increased water-use efficiency.”

How is this gaslighting? ”Global terrestrial gross primary production (GPP)—the rate of carbon fixation by photosynthesis—is estimated to have risen by (31 ± 5)% since 1900, but the relative contributions of different putative drivers to this increase are not well known. Here we identify the rising atmospheric CO2 concentration as the dominant driver.” The argument I am making is that CO2 is causing plants to grow and deserts to shrink. What is your position?

Here in Happy Valley we are running a real world experiment on the effectiveness or lack there of, of lockdowns. This past weekend the Penn State kids celebrated the annual “State Paddy’s Day” an orgy of drunken debauchery celebrated the weekend after Dance Marathon (the world’s largest, student run, philanthropy). Since the bars are shut down and campus activities limited because of COVID, the party went downtown to houses and apartments. Few masks were seen as drunken students made their way from party to party packing themselves into overcrowded rooms and balconies. If the lefties are correct, we should see a tremendous increase in CORONA virus in the next week or so followed by a spike in hospitalizations and deaths from an overwhelmed health care system. https://images.app.goo.gl/oCDDtqjQ5upRkkkc9 I will give an update upon my return from Disney World in two weeks.

I didn’t complain, I just pointed out the hypocrisy. BillV gave me a one day time-out for posting a graph from the state of Texas. I’m not even going to show him the graph that shows the US using more fossil fuels than ever before and the utter failure for wind and solar to make SIGNIFICANT strides to replace them in the foreseeable future and the ever increasing levels of atmospheric CO2. That would just be mean.

It sounds like 2012 all over again, you were wrong then you are wrong now. But don’t let that stop you. Obviously you are not familiar the idiom “there is no education in the second kick of a mule.”
-
Only if you lean right. If you are a leftie you can get away with calling someone a racist, an *sshole and a f*cking c*unt. (Not an exaggeration) I got a “time out” for posting a graph from a governmental source. (It contradicted with the moderators world view)

Let me help you out. “Looking at remote sensing data from NASA’s satellites, we’ve discovered that over the last two decades, the Earth has increased its green leaf area by a total of 5 percent, which is roughly five and a half million square kilometers—an increase equivalent to the size of the entire Amazon rain forest.” Are you going to persist with the red herrings or are you ready to admit the obvious.

Goalposts move? Did you read the title of my original post? Or did you just have trouble understanding it?
-
I wasn’t making up the fact that CO2 has caused a greening of the planet. Or would you like to argue otherwise?
-
I should have said “you guys” as in the global warmists. It was a favorite around this forum and was routinely used to explain cold snaps and large snowstorms. Now that that “theory” has been conclusively debunked, it has the climate alarmists angrily grasping for a new explanation. It will interesting to see if the current five year pause in global temperatures persists this year, even as the rise in CO2 continues unabated.
-
Isn’t that what you said about the record cold gripping the Northern Hemisphere? Oh no, that would be “warm heating cold”
-
They are just pissed that Mother Nature usurped the concept of “going green” and kicked their little theory in the balls
-
There shouldn’t be an argument, the planet is greener. It just pisses off the “great minds” that they were wrong about the catastrophic impact greater CO2 levels would have. Prediction: fewer polar bears Observation: more polar bears Prediction: deserts would expand Observation: deserts are shrinking Prediction: increase in famine, food shortage Observation: record food production Prediction: more floods, droughts, hurricanes and wildfires Observation: no statistically significant change in floods, droughts, hurricanes and wildfires I could go on but you get the idea
-
Wow, settle down guys. How about something with which we can all agree? Because of the fertilization effect of CO2 we live in a greener and more verdant planet.
-
When I asked for a current example of systemic racism and not one from the 19th or 20th century, I should have included the 18th century.....my bad.

You mean this guy? “Gates found the front door to his home jammed shut and, with the help of his driver, tried to force it open. A local witness reported their activity to the police as a potential burglary in progress.” “Crowley's states that he believed Gates was lawfully in the residence, but that he was surprised and confused by Gates's behavior, which included a threat that Crowley did not know who he was "messing with." Crowley then asked Gates for a photo ID so as to verify he was the resident of the house; Gates initially refused, but then did supply his Harvard University identification card. Crowley wrote that Gates repeatedly shouted requests for his identification. Crowley then told Gates that he was leaving his residence and that if Gates wanted to continue discussing the matter, he would speak to him outside. Gates replied, "Yeah, I'll speak with your mama outside." “Gates stepped onto his front porch and continued to yell at Crowley, accusing him of racial bias and saying he had not heard the last of him. Faced with this tumultuous behavior from Gates, even though he was still standing on his own front porch, Crowley warned Gates that he was becoming disorderly. When Gates ignored this warning and persisted in his behavior, and likewise ignored a second warning from Crowley, Crowley informed him that he was under arrest.”
