I suspect she will get more support and less dirty tricks than Kavanaugh did from the Democrats

“Unusually low gas reserves have raised alarm among several European governments in recent months, with storage tanks across the continent on average at only 31% capacity at the start of this week – roughly half as full as in 2020. In Germany, reserves have been particularly low in storage tanks run by the Russian state-owned energy giant Gazprom, seemingly highlighting the country’s restricted room for meaningful sanctions in the case of an escalating conflict on the Ukrainian border.”

Biden has to consider our NATO allies. If you know how Europe can replace 40+% of their natural gas, in the middle of winter, I would love to know. If we sanction Russian oil and gas and the Eurozone doesn’t we will only be hurting ourselves.
-
The Keystone pipeline would have easily replaced Russian oil. I agree we can do without Russian oil, our NATO allies cannot.

https://climatechangedispatch.com/how-the-green-movement-empowered-putins-invasion-of-ukraine/ “And the reason he cannot actually do much more short of war is that he and the leaders of western Europe—bamboozled by the prospect of “climate change”—have made themselves poorer and weaker by eviscerating conventional fuel production. While they without ample reason were discarding a very good hand, Russian president Putin was improving his by exploiting and selling to us and Europe his nations’ fossil fuels. In 2020 the U.S. was a net exporter of petroleum. In 2021 we imported between 12 million and 26 million barrels of crude oil and petroleum from Russia every month. In November 2021, the most recent figures on record, the Energy Information Agency reports that the U.S. took 17.8 million barrels.“ And that is why Biden can’t hit Putin where it hurts.

Russia can destroy Ukraine’s conventional military, but there is no way 190,000 is enough troops to secure the entire country leaving open the possibility of a robust insurgency based in the western region and supported by the West.
-
We have already deployed the 173rd ABCT to Latvia. And the 82nd to Poland. If we don’t adapt a more forward leaning posture, Putin will start picking off the Baltic states, after all do you really think the West has the stomach to start WWIII over Estonia? If he attacked US installations that would be a different story.
-
Not in an aggressive posture, more of a deterrence. Think Berlin Brigade.
-
Called it.
-
If you want something more muscular, we could add some cyber and covert shenanigans. Going forward I would build permanent US bases in the eastern flank of NATO, including the Baltic states. Unfortunately this has been a long time coming. Crimea is a latter day Sudentenland and Obama a latter day Chamberlain. ”History doesn’t repeat itself but it often rhymes”
-
Easy there Rambo, I laid out my plan and it didn’t entail WWIII.
-
It will be a fait accompli in 72 hours. The winner of a battle is the one who “gets there the firstest with the mostest”. And that, my friend, is the Russians. I won’t even address the folly of attacking mechanized divisions with outnumbered light infantry without logistical support.
-
That is a bit like asking me what would I do if I jumped out of a plane without a parachute, but let me give it a go. Fully exploit our domestic fossil fuel resources, return us to a net exporter of oil and gas, tap the strategic reserve to ease the transition. Target Russia’s oil and gas sectors, cutting them off from western markets (Europe can just put up a few more windmills and solar panels). Perhaps give Iran a temporary time-out from its sanctions to fill the gap.
-
The cards have been dealt at this stage but if I had to go back to the beginning of his administration, I would have not sabotaged our fossil fuel industry and listened to the commanders on the ground in Afghanistan. Tight oil and gas supply has strengthened Putin’s hand and the debacle in Afghanistan was Biden’s Bay Of Pigs. Which showed weakness and incompetence. (Along with just about everything this administration has done). Make your enemies strong + demonstrate your own weaknesses and incompetence = trouble

https://theweek.com/russo-ukrainian-war/1010547/fox-news-host-corrects-trump-when-he-says-us-troops-not-russians-landed The fact that we still have a country after four years of Trump and one year of Biden lends credibility to the notion of the “deep state”
-
We will now have a chance to see how Biden deals with a real problem. So far he has had to deal with imaginary issues, climate change, widespread police brutality, income inequality, systematic racism, white supremacy…. Now we get to see if he has the competence to run with the big dogs. Godspeed Brandon.

So she won? Or did she loose?
-
She was tested for President and the results came back negative.

JFK chose Johnson to lock down the Southern vote, Reagan chose Bush to unify the party, Clinton chose Gore because of his experience in foreign policy, environmentalism and a reputation as a family man, Bush chose Cheney so there was an adult in the mix, Obama chose Biden because he was “Ol’ working class Joe from Scranton” to balance out the youth and exotic nature of Obama, Trump chose Pence because he wanted a low profile yes-man that would not compete with his enormous yet fragile ego. Harris was chosen because Biden wanted….???

Meanwhile in the Arctic While January began with sea ice extent below average, by the end of the month, extent increased…above all years since 2009. Meanwhile in the Antarctic “Between April and September, a research station sitting on a high plateau in Antarctica, registered an average temperature of minus 78 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 61 degrees Celsius). That's the coldest temperature recorded since record keeping began in 1957, and about 4.5 F (2.5 C) lower than the most recent 30-year average, according to The Washington Post.” I expect better from you John.

Yes she is an accomplished professional with genuine credentials, along with thousands of others. What in her portfolio makes her uniquely qualified to be VP?
-
What about Trump? What about Palin? What about Cheney? Biden is The President and Harris is VP. Deal with that, don’t make it about something other than the topic of the thread. Since you are obviously a Harris fanboy, why don’t you regale us with her many accomplishments.

https://www.skynews.com.au/world-news/united-states/kamala-harris-has-been-a-disaster-as-vice-president/video/50d51309f5822ad3e6ad35fb1c6f2c7e The congresswoman says “identity politics” played a part in Joe Biden’s decision to nominate Kamala Harris as his running mate in 2020, arguing the America’s incumbent VP has been a “disaster” in the role. Tulsi Gabbard (D) agrees with me.
-
NO! You are missing the point ENTIRELY. She is incompetent because she is incompetent. The was selected in large part because of her ethnicity and gender by DEMOCRATS!!! Watch the video, she is being slammed for her lack of competency NOT her race or gender.
-
You need to go back and re-read this thread. I’m on the side of competence and experience, the Ds obsess over gender and ethnicity. It’s called identity politics. https://www.npr.org/2018/12/20/673937768/democrats-cant-avoid-identity-politics-in-2020 Just to be clear there are plenty of qualified black females Condoleezza Rice for example. Harris is just not one of them.
