  1. The weather was great, the first three rounds' scores stood (after the first redraw), and Storm took the gold (then teamed up with Aardvark Zulu to take silver in the 8-way as Stormy Aardvark). Woohoo! -- "I'll tell you how all skydivers are judged, . They are judged by the laws of physics." - kkeenan "You jump out, pull the string and either live or die. What's there to be good at?
  2. I had a Havok to fit my glasses underneath, but my glasses fogged (ironically, all that extra space directed breath inside the helmet as well). So I bought a Mamba and have never had any kind of fogging in it - the vents at the front work very well. -- "I'll tell you how all skydivers are judged, . 3. Hey, this is not quite the answer you're after, but: The Navigator is a hybrid 9-cell rather than an all-ZP 7-cell... do you have a specific canopy in mind? -- "I'll tell you how all skydivers are judged, . They are judged by the laws of physics." - kkeenan "You jump out, pull the string and either live or die. What's there to be good at?
  4. I'm in the same boat. Was looking at my Pilot's warning label for the first time in ages, and noticed: All the information was gone. With really close inspection I can just about work out what it was, but I'll have to check with Aerodyne to know for sure. This canopy is about a year and a half old, and has only been jumped for a little over a year. I wonder, could labels in general be made better? -- "I'll tell you how all skydivers are judged, . 5. Do you have a non-USPA license? They seemed happy to let us jump on BPA licenses (including students, with BPA instructors) in February/March. -- "I'll tell you how all skydivers are judged, . 6. Bah, I tried that a couple of weeks ago and still only got one jump for the day - on load 4 -- "I'll tell you how all skydivers are judged, . They are judged by the laws of physics." - kkeenan "You jump out, pull the string and either live or die. What's there to be good at?
  7. Just so. I guess they feel that the pain in the arse of not having people to JM loads costs them more than customers who take it personally, and have done their own math. That said, "supply and demand" isn't strictly a law, though it's often quoted as such. Maybe commercial considerations are secondary to them over constantly reminding people, subtly that they should progress. A pound isn't a big deal money wise, but it's a reminder. Getting your CH2 and JM1 after your A makes you a better and safer jumper. Maybe they're doing it for your own good. Maybe they're not of course, but there are plenty of alternative explanations... -- "I'll tell you how all skydivers are judged, . 8. Lotsa reasons, but therapy is a good one. And because if I don't, then I gradually turn into more and more of an irritable subhuman bastard until my flatmate/workmates/friends physically force me to go to the DZ so I become livable-with again. "Go! Just get out!" *points* "Look! Blue skies! Now fuck off!" -- "I'll tell you how all skydivers are judged, . 9. ^^^ Did that a few weeks back (demo tour strikes again), and it was certainly educational. All I can do is agree with a couple of other people, DSE in particular, and say companies have off days. The key is how they deal with them... notice that L&B have their fantastic reputation for customer service not because of their reliability, in fact quite the opposite - every time the subject comes up someone says "oh I had problem X, and they sorted me out free of charge before I could even come online and complain". This isn't really a pro- or anti-Aerodyne post, since I've never had anything go wrong with them (onto my fourth product now) and so, by my own criteria, am not in a position to judge them. Just an observation. -- "I'll tell you how all skydivers are judged, . They are judged by the laws of physics." - kkeenan "You jump out, pull the string and either live or die. 10. Which it's entirely possible these people have. Just becuse the brand is new, it's no cert that they haven't been making jumpsuits for much longer. Just look at all the container and canopy manufacturers that started after people left their parent companies... they didn't spring full-formed out of the ground. *shrug* -- "I'll tell you how all skydivers are judged, . They are judged by the laws of physics." - kkeenan "You jump out, pull the string and either live or die. What's there to be good at?
  11. Or you want to stash an emergency cigarette in there, only to discover just how mashed it can get on just one jump I have no comlpaints about my Excel, and the high collar on it is nice, though I'm not sure how useful it is - it's just a comfort/look thing, IMO. I like your colours, too. -- "I'll tell you how all skydivers are judged, . They are judged by the laws of physics." - kkeenan "You jump out, pull the string and either live or die. 12. I thought the BPA *did* regulate jump pilots? At least, that was explained to me as one of the reason it's so hard to get a balloon jump in the UK - the balloon pilot has to also be a BPA jump pilot. Is this the case? -- "I'll tell you how all skydivers are judged, . They are judged by the laws of physics." - kkeenan "You jump out, pull the string and either live or die. 13. Likewise, see you cats there. There's another one at Hibaldstow (I think) the weekend after, and that could be a goer too -- "I'll tell you how all skydivers are judged, . 14. I've hurt myself horse riding. I haven't hurt myself skydiving. I haven't really done much skydiving I spose, but I've done even less horse riding. Maybe I am just less crap at one than the other. *shrug* I'm not sure what the point of this is. -- "I'll tell you how all skydivers are judged, . They are judged by the laws of physics." - kkeenan "You jump out, pull the string and either live or die. What's there to be good at?
  15. Hey, it goes further than not minding. The last Scrambles I went to, one of the other teams' Skygods was coaching my team on the quiet. Including our Skygod :) It's all in the name of fun and progression... love it. -- "I'll tell you how all skydivers are judged, . 16. There are non-US rig manufacturers out there, ya know :) Over this side of the pond, you're much more likely to see Vortex Atom Teardrop NeXT than most of those you mention. And don't even get me started on the Russkies! ;) (Back on topic tho, I jump an Icon because it was what my instructors suggested when I was shopping (the fact that one of them traded his Vector3 for one impressed me, I'll admit). Now I know a bit more about my gear I'm happy with what I bought, and will probably buy another one when it's time.) -- "I'll tell you how all skydivers are judged, . 17. Whoah. Find! -- "I'll tell you how all skydivers are judged, . They are judged by the laws of physics." - kkeenan "You jump out, pull the string and either live or die. What's there to be good at?
  18. Does this mean that Sun Path and Aerodyne will be fitting curved reserve pins to their Skyhook-equipped containers also? -- "I'll tell you how all skydivers are judged, . 19. I'm pretty sure not... the description makes it sound much more recent than that; a (European) club were using the '86 dive pool for fun in their competition. -- "I'll tell you how all skydivers are judged, . They are judged by the laws of physics." - kkeenan "You jump out, pull the string and either live or die. What's there to be good at?
  20. It's not exactly old footage, but it is retro. Clicky (YouTube). -- "I'll tell you how all skydivers are judged, . They are judged by the laws of physics." - kkeenan "You jump out, pull the string and either live or die. What's there to be good at?
  21. *ding* It's not so much the you-might-die thing though, as the time-and-money thing (again, always). I just regard it as truth in advertising... they see it as evidence that I'm not really mature enough to be husband material, and they're right -- "I'll tell you how all skydivers are judged, . They are judged by the laws of physics." - kkeenan "You jump out, pull the string and either live or die. What's there to be good at?
  22. Yeah but they have long weekends in them; you can go to Spain. Thus they suck less than March -- "I'll tell you how all skydivers are judged, . They are judged by the laws of physics." - kkeenan "You jump out, pull the string and either live or die. What's there to be good at?
  23. Yeah, what he said. It's not the best even when it's good, but we do get the odd jumpable weekend later in the year. Enjoy your training, you only get to do it once then it's gone! March sucks. -- "I'll tell you how all skydivers are judged, . They are judged by the laws of physics." - kkeenan "You jump out, pull the string and either live or die. What's there to be good at?
  24. Fantastic. Not shopping for a new container this season, but when I do, I now know what it'll be without even having to think about it. -- "I'll tell you how all skydivers are judged, . They are judged by the laws of physics." - kkeenan "You jump out, pull the string and either live or die. What's there to be good at?
  25. The SMG is OK, but if you're tall and end up at the back, you are going to be in a world of hurt by the time you get out. Gimme the Porter any day! (Do any UK DZs have a Porter? Lillo is kind of a hassle to get to for my fix ]:P]) -- "I'll tell you how all skydivers are judged, .
