ltdiver, my father recently suffered the same (he's only 59). He had two stints inserted into his veins and is taking lots of blood pressure lowering meds. Heart surgery has come a *long* way in the last 10 years. It's much less intrusive so your father has a good chance of a speedy recovery. My father had his surgery 4 months ago and he is back working after a month and is now enjoying a vacation in France. My thoughts are with you and your father. In Dnemark with our welfare system and extreme form of redistribution of wealth (which I see as 'redistribution of fruit of labour) you really have to work pretty hard to become homeless. Even then you'll be given a chance pretty much every time you show a clear interest in another go. For that reason what few panhandlers there are here are alcoholics or drug addicts. Government (meaning tax payers) pay their rent. If they've been tossed out of their 10th apartment or so, they still get their welfare check so normally they can afford beer. I take shitty jobs doing dishes and cleaning place often during night time while I wait for the IT industry to pick up its pace again. Even so I pay (at minimum wage) 35% income tax and 23% sales tax on everything. I pack chutes to get jump money now. I figure I've done my part. I'll buy the ravished friendly ones a sandwich or a burger if I have money to spare. Unfortunately it's apparent that they make more a month with welfare + panhandling than I do with shitty jobs + taxes, so it's not that often. Don't feel bad about it either as I'm forced into charity through taxes whether I like it or not

Depends on where ya go. Met someone from #philosophy channel on the undernet IRC. Online dating requires a certain technique. A good aspect of it is that you can disconnect from the other person (literally) by the push of a button. I haven't done decidedly dating-seeking online thingy. I just chatted with others on a philosophy related channel and it took off from there. Thats actually alot harder that it sounds, trust me. Not sure I understand what you're saying is it harder to lose your heart and loneliness than it sounds, si that what you mean? I agree completely. But being open to this form of communicating will increase you chances of meeting people. There are of course all the risks inherent in dating - and some new ones. The new ones can be mitigated through being careful. Unfortunately all relationships have the risk of causing heart ache. Most people think it's worth it (I dunno about that myself). If I've understood you correctly, I couldn't agree more with you and I'm quite sure I've just repeated knowledge that you already possess. Feel good today so I'm just typing away anyway

Met people that way. Started a relationship with someone I met over the net but due to me having issues it didn't work out. Wish I could have handled myself better but hey we live and learn. We've had (and have) great fights but I still consider her a very close friend. She's from the US but is now studying in Sweden. Came home with pizza today, ate two slices and there was a knock on the door - there she was (I live in Denmark).

Requirements here are 40 jumps and various exercises such as spotting, tracking etc and so on, as well as a packing certificate, theory test and test on skydiving regulations. Did my 50th jump with my sister, which was great. Got 5 jumps in 5 hours which isn't bad for a Cessna dz, considering it takes 30 minutes to get to alt. Also managed to get the softest landing I've managed yet - was as if I stepped down from 1 cm unto feathers. Managed to back track properly and flew in formation (side by side, not CreW) with my sis when we were under canopies. And bummed out bad on the test on skydiving regulations. Hadn't studied and dinnae think there'd be anyone at the dz with the time for the test. Instructor was 'less than impressed'. Yet he considered me to be a careful person that seeks information before doing something, so he let me pass . When I started skydiving I was so scared shitless getting certified was but a distant dream. Now I can just go out to every DZ in the country and enjoy myself. Amazing. Beer is on me if yer in Aalborg, Denmark on Thursday

Agree with everything you said except the fear/bouldering thing. I don't feel fear when bouldering. Sure, I'll get scraped up and bruised and maybe break a bone or two, but I won't frigging DIE. When I'm 120 feet or more over the ground my mind goes into 'oh fuck dude!' mode. I'd hate to test my placements so i just try not to fall

Having a CYPRES increases (in my personal judgement) my chances of surviving bad judgement with regards to altitude. It doesn't make it fool proof, but the degree of increase is enough to justify the expenses. For me. 100 mil? Nah. I *do* jump out of planes now and then knowing I might die.
