    Red Bull boycott

Hey Space, yes it was Robin who got Petronas' doors opened to BASE. On a side note, Nick, Troy's drink is Go Fast, not Red Bull. ================================== I've got all I need, Jesus and gravity. Dolly Parton http://www.AveryBadenhop.com

Yes, no, your sumisery is mistaken. The management does not honor his illegal jump. The site was opened to legal jumps by others. ================================== I've got all I need, Jesus and gravity. Dolly Parton http://www.AveryBadenhop.com

    YO! Karen BR

So 6 months later Jesse finds an odd roll of film in the bottom of his bag. Would you believe it's from Texas?! You and Steve Tyler on the way.... ================================== I've got all I need, Jesus and gravity. Dolly Parton http://www.AveryBadenhop.com
  8. Sure, I'll take a stab at it. As usual, NickD has something worthwhile to say, and as usual, some confused freak from stage one has to rant. Unrequited love can really mess a guy up. The good news? "Super" Johnny just got back from Russia where he represented TEAM ILL VISION on the 30-way from Ostankino - way to go Johnny! .....livin up to it! 38" pc

Once a happy Swedish jumper showed me a trick. Using a PC that had no handle, in a situation where he wanted a handle (internal), he simply slipped an empty film canister into the PC during folding. Any other small very light little object could work. The film canister was big enough to make a useful 'handle', but also light enough as to be unobtrusive after use. Slips in and out of the PC easily enough, and not really so dangerous if it falls out after deployment. A rather clever fix in the field. ================================== I've got all I need, Jesus and gravity. Dolly Parton http://www.AveryBadenhop.com
  10. That is exactly the deadly risk, that it would stay. With a very short bridle, you may never get any 'snatch force'. That could lead to problems, like death for starters. When using bridles AND pilot chutes, please do not use rubber bands. There's a use for a rubber band on a bridle using static line (break chord), a topic which may just be fitting here; if it is such a low jump that throwing and going are in order, and if inflation time is so seemingly critical, maybe you should consider it low enough for static line or PCA, then things like bridles and mesh are no longer such a concern. It is my opinion that holding the mesh is not necessarily the answer, as that is not really any guarantee of quicker inflation. ================================== I've got all I need, Jesus and gravity. 15. I love animals, they're delicious! If God didn't want us to eat animals, He wouldn't have made them out of meat! I need to do a little research and post a link, as I remember reading not too long ago about PETA and some misappropriation of funds, I guess one of the PETA big-wigs got busted for ripping off a bunch of donated "save the hamsters" funds. Another part of the article addressed the fact that PETA sends out piles of unsolicited junk mail, and to do that they have to chop down a bunch of trees for the paper, and in chopping down the trees, had slaughtered countless little tree dwelling critters...... Oops, forgot to add, I've seen pigs fly from NRGB! ================================== I've got all I need, Jesus and gravity. Dolly Parton http://www.AveryBadenhop.com

  18. By request, I add: On terminal jumps I try to use my Perigee Pro pin closed rig, although I have on occasion gone with my Odyssey velcro rig. If it is a Wingsuit flight, I use only the pin rig. (Moderator, I could not edit previous post). Also, I jump only Mojo 260's on all regular BASE jumps, wingsuit included. For water jumps I use the Mini Perigee and Tektite, or disposable clapped out gear. ================================== I've got all I need, Jesus and gravity. 19. I have 500+ BASE jumps from 100+ objects. I have toyed just a bit with variables, but now have a standard that I follow without fail. I have a hybrid flat-pro pack, which is basically the flat pack I learned from Dennis on the first BASE jump I made, with a little Choppin, a bit of "Utah", and a touch of BR and CR tech. What I end up with is a very symetrical split pack job. It is the same every time. For slider down, I use a 46" non-vented PC every time. Tried the vented ones, don't like them. Also, I use a tail gate with larks head black rubber, wrapped two times, regardless of delay, s/l to 3 seconds. Never had a tail-gate snag. When going slider up, regardless of delay, 4 seconds to 20 seconds, I pack exactly the same except wrapping the tail around the nose instead of just around itself, all I do is pull the slider up, remove the tailgate, use the C-line slider keeper rubber band, and a 38" non-vented PC. (Also re-routing the steering lines). I always use a high aspect ratio large hole mesh slider. That includes BirdMan BASE and standard free fall BASE. Why do I do it like this? It works for me, every time so far. I prefer a positive quick opening to an unpredictable snivel. Your mileage may vary. Oh yeah, I should mention, water jump pack jobs are different, usually it's with a round. ================================== I've got all I need, Jesus and gravity. 20. Hello, I had a flurry of requests for the BR Video Manual. I had a batch reproduced professionally, and sent them out. Now, the original has been returned to Basic Research. I kept one of the copies for my video library. If anybody else wants a packing video, please contact BR or CR or Vertigo... ================================== I've got all I need, Jesus and gravity. 23. Hello, I have the old Basic Research Video Manual. I don't exactly want to give it up, as it has it's place in my "History of BASE". I would however be willing to make a copy, for distribution. If anyone really has an interest, let me know. I have a couple VCR's laying around here somewhere, I'm sure I could make a copy. Um, BR, any objection? email@AveryBadenhop.com ================================== I've got all I need, Jesus and gravity. Dolly Parton http://www.AveryBadenhop.com

  25. It really depends on the situation. Earning your altitude can be interpreted in a couple ways. If I bust my butt for months at work, and then have a surplus of cash, and a shortage of time, then by hiring a helicopter to get multiple jumps in Norway for the very few days I have there, that's earning my altitude. If I have lots of idle time, and less funding, I can spend more time in the LB valley, where I hike my butt for days, just ask anyone who spent time with me there, that is earning my altitude. If I walk into a hotel with a rig, and catch an elevator to the roof, which I previously scoped, and secure access, that is earning my altitude. Of course, if I have to walk up all thirty-two flights because the elevators have cameras, then, once again that is earning my altitude. Bridges are easy access, usually, but there was one bridge I jumped where I had to climb DOWN 200' from the road to the pier to get into the tower, and then UP 400' to the top to flick, that's like time and a half, a well earned flick. In regards to antennas, I once rode an elevator, but got off at 500', as I was still just a slider-off jumper, and a ride to the top would have been a waste of time. I have since climbed that same 500'. On a regular basis, I climb 400' to 500' Power Towers. I'm old, busted up, made over 500 jumps from over 100 objects, whatever I get from here on, I earned. Your mileage may vary. ================================== I've got all I need, Jesus and gravity. Dolly Parton http://www.AveryBadenhop.com
