  1. Hello, What you are going through is not an Aussie problem, it's a human one. None of these problems are new, just new people filling the slots. Avery ================================== I've got all I need, Jesus and gravity. Dolly Parton http://www.AveryBadenhop.com
  2. Hello, Something you have to consider is the size of your pouch. Bigger PC = more pack volume. Longer bridle = more pack volume. Large mesh = more pack volume. On my older velcro-closed BASE rigs, the BOC pouches are huge, this is to accommodate the stowage of 42" to 46" PC's. When I use them for slider-up jumps, I use a 38" PC. Anything smaller may get lost in there. The pin rigs I have for slider up stuff have smaller pouches. Usually on slider-up jumps, I always use a 38" PC anyway. So far, all the PC's I've mentioned have been with the large mesh. (38" in BOC on Perigee Pro with GTi for BASE has been sweet!) I have two skydiving rigs, both set up for wingsuits. So far this year I've been playing with a lot of configurations. Different canopies and PC's, and suits; GTi, S3, V1....... The BASE pouches on my S3 and V1 are smaller than normal BOC, additionally the pouches are not flexible like spandex pouches, so Marty of Asylum Designs is making me some @ 34" with large mesh. It's about as big as I could get without switching to small mesh. I do not like small mesh on a BASE jump, (PC or slider). All my bridles are now 12'. ================================== I've got all I need, Jesus and gravity. Dolly Parton http://www.AveryBadenhop.com
  3. Hello, If you left right now, in a few days you would be nowhere near the base of the giant to check out the landing area. Eventually, perhaps, you may get to the bottom. Standing at the bottom of the cliff, you appreciate the adjective #!%$ and dream of your own country's National Parks. You are now days from the exit point. Eventually, perhaps, you may get to the exit. You would be tired and hungry, and very scared. You are a long long way from any kind of help, that dot you have to land on is gnarly, but at least the winds are squirly. With your toes curled over the edge of your pulse, pounding, realizing, it's only fifty-fifty and you're not 100%. My experience is limited to five hundred and seventy two BASE jumps from one hundred and nineteen objects on four continents. Thanks Jay. Sign me up for next year. Avery, number twelve. ================================== I've got all I need, Jesus and gravity. Dolly Parton http://www.AveryBadenhop.com
  4. Hello, Try take it a little lower! With a WS the ground does not even start to come at you until 2.5K. #1. I try to pull at an altitude that keeps the DZO happy. #2. I usually pull at an altitude that keeps me happy. Sometimes #1 and #2 differ a bit. Nuff said. ================================== I've got all I need, Jesus and gravity. 10. Hello, Yes isn't it ironic. Very closely related to the roots of the aerial delivery law. The irony being that............. We've heard for years from the NPS that the reason the climbers seem to be able to do whatever they want is because of their long historical presence. The aerial delivery law was first implemented in other areas to reduce "squatting". The law was twisted to be used against us for putting into freefall our bodies from backcountry cliffs, and then using a parachute for safe access back into the park. Now the climbers use our technology in their sport, and get busted with that rascally old aerial delivery law. A search of morning reports should reveal the exact details, it was in the last year or so. I guess being able to huck piles of crap off the cliff makes it easier to "squatt" there a bit longer. Are some of the climbers overstaying their historical welcome? Our sport definitely has less of an environmental impact in the park than so many of its' other abusers. ================================== I've got all I need, Jesus and gravity. 12. Hello, Hey Ed, just three days with these earthlings, then we can get back to the sky where we belong! I found that I have a small stack of smoke cannisters, so no need to get more as far as I'm concerned. Nice of Chuck to invite us over this week. See you Thursday, I'll be there with bells wings on. 15. Hello, Three cheers for Jay and his crew. On a scale of one to ten, the El Gigante trip is a solid eleven. Imagine......... At first light, you roll out of bed, into your rig. 50 paces from your bed is a helicopter. On the helicopter are fresh hot breakfast burritos. Time it takes to eat a burrito = three minutes. Flight time to the exit point = three minutes. When all the rigs are rightiously unpacked, you fly back to the ranch. Or if you feel the need, save one pack-job for a jump into the ranch. Then it is lunchtime. 5 star meals. The afternoon is for siesta, packing, telling lies. Then dinner. 5 star. No electricity (no problem) so bedtime is early. Did I mention that this goes on for days and days? Disclaimer: low experience level jumpers need not apply. This is a very demanding site, you gotta have it ALL going on. Bring a sense of humor, you will need it, Mexico is a soup sandwich. ================================== I've got all I need, Jesus and gravity. Dolly Parton http://www.AveryBadenhop.com

  21. Wow, bummer. With all due respect for Ken and his family, Ken was not a BASE jumper. Ken never did make a BASE jump. There is no category on "The List" for wanna-be's. ================================== I've got all I need, Jesus and gravity. Dolly Parton http://www.AveryBadenhop.com
  22. Ooh, a '97 Mojo, "pre-TailGate". A relic from the end of an era. There are many methods for improvizing. I suspect that rubberband you mentioned is more likely a slider stow for slider up packing. The improvized tailgate should be inserted into the fingertrap at that C-line attachment. Maybe someone else would agree that attaching a tailgate to the line with a rubberband would kinda suck. Tailgate placement depends entirely on the deep brake settings, if you have them. Does that old rag have dbs's? No dbs's is an entirely different subject. On most BASE canopies, the dbs's pull the canopy many inches below the C-line attachment point, thus the necessity of the added trap down the line. As I mentioned, there are many methods for improvized tailgates. Odd bits of string, tape, bites..... ================================== I've got all I need, Jesus and gravity. If you want on KL 2005 mailing list, email: email@averybadenhop.com KL 2005 as the subject. Tell a friend. By the end of March, I will be back from Mexico, and Harry will be back from Thailand.
