http://www.metcheck.com is giving a more optimistic forcast for next saturday at least. Use DN20 for the postcode and it will give you a local forcast for Hib.

Langar isn't to shabby with a full time FF coach in Steve Newman and often a 50:50 split between belly and free flyers. Steve is a TM and camera man so gets busy at weekends but he still seems to be able to make himself available for coaching as much as possible.

I want to buy a mid 90's BMW 3 series (4 door 318i petrol engine manual gearbox probably). Anyone got any opinions about service costs/running cost/insurance cost (particularly from UK experience). Cheers.

I'm pretty sure its B certificate and above who can jump with a full face. The 50 jumps you mention ties in with that as you have to have at least this number of jumps plus another qualification to get it.

LET 410 - Bye bye from Australia
Adriandavies replied to DanglesOZQld's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
That sucks. My home DZ let its LET go two years ago and invested in a second Grand Caravan instead. That was due to the same costs you mentioned, plus as it was an ageing airframe our CAA was taking an increasing amount of time to certify it every year. I miss the door and the bench seats, hey but at least we arre left with two turbines 364 days of the year. -
I just received this from Lisa at Langar Hiya, Dave says the prices may be going up, but he doesn't know when or how much. We'll let everyone know as soon as we have anything confirmed. Regards Lisa So the moral of the story is get your tickets NOW before they go up in price.

Oil Price Rise = Jump Ticket Price Rise?
Adriandavies replied to Adriandavies's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
£20 I heard this weekend but that's probably the individual ticket price, I guess it'll be something like £190 for 10. Gus I got an email from Lisa at Langar this morning saying 'Hiya, Dave says the prices may be going up, but he doesn't know when or how much. We'll let everyone know as soon as we have anything confirmed. Regards Lisa -
go on I dare you!

Cark has already gone up and so far rumour suggests that Langar will be following suit. Tell you what rather than me just relying on rumour I'll email them and find out. $50-$60 a barrel of crude oil looks to stay for a long time so the days of $30 a barrel and sub £20 jump tickets have probably also gone.
-
Buying 50 at Langar in January also brought the price down to about £15 per jump, as long as you take into account three free Friday tickets. But as I have said in another thread jump ticket prices all over the UK will be going up for people buying tickets from now on.

Oil Price Rise = Jump Ticket Price Rise?
Adriandavies replied to Adriandavies's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
At some point no matter where you live (USA, Spain, Russia) jump ticket prices will have to go up. The price of a barrel is the same everywhere although the amount of tax paid on the finished product varies. As for us Brits rising jump ticket prices will also be followed by the likes of Ryanair putting their fares up to take into account rising fuel prices. At the moment they are saying that their fares haven't increased but I think that it a marketing ploy to try to gain publicity at the expense of BA. I'm guessing but I would imagine that their average fare is a lot higher this year than last purely becuase of teh cost of Jet A -

Nope...I've just heard that they are going up but I haven't taken the time to ask by how much and when. -
Oil Price Rise = Jump Ticket Price Rise?
Adriandavies replied to Adriandavies's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Just wondering how many DZ's either have increased ticket prices in the last 3 months or will do shortly as a result of oil price rises? In the UK I've heard that Langar is to raise their price soon and that other DZ's already have done. -
What PAC? When Cark got their's there was no way that you couldn't hear about it, but this is the first time that I've heard that Hinton is getting one.

Skyventure UK will be opening in Milton Keynes, England, in October. Fly to Luton and then get a bus there. Alternatively Bodyflight Bedford will be opening this summer. It is a former Ministry of Defence vertical wind tunnel which has been adapted for skydivers. Again fly to Luton them get a bus to Bedford. Both tunnels are going to be within 30 miles of each other! Both also advertise on DZ.com so you'll be able to find maps and other details there.

UK peeps - travel insurance...
Adriandavies replied to Zeemax's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
To prove that I have got too much time of my hands I emailed Columbus to ask about the picture of the skydiver. This is their reply: .Dear Mr Davies Further to your recent email, I can confirm that before our terms and conditions changed we were able to provide cover for sky diving, however we are no longer able to offer cover and the web site is due to be updated shortly. 4th of july weekend video
Adriandavies replied to Anvilbrother's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Cool video. Who's the music by? -
Bodyflight Bedford is offering its vouchers as an INTRODUCTORY offer ie even they haven't finalised their prices yet! Skyventure is keeping its website up to date with its construction progress but is yet to publish prices and at the moment it hasn't even got a confirmed opening date. Have you also considered that Skyventure are offering gift vouchers which I think are aimed at none skydivers and that a lot of their visiting time will be taken up with tuition rather than tunnel work.
