I've just bought a Freezr and I love it. It fits over my glasses very easily and is comfortable. The only drawback is that it has an internal pocket for an audible and in practice I find it awkward to place my Protrack in a comfortable position. Its also the only Freezr on my DZ so I stand out a mile!

Yes, but there's never been any real evidence that it was intentional. It's easy to claim that it was intentional but quite another thing to present evidence. Now, perhaps there is some evidence. I am working from the supposition that the USAF bombed a residential area of Kabul and hit one house and that happended to be home to the Al Jazeera bureau. It certainly seemed suspicous at the time although as you say there is no evidence to directly support my theory.

what do you mean 'were we going to bomb Al-Jazeera', its already been done. I seem to remember the Americans bombing the Al Jazeera office in Kabul and shooting at their journalists in Baghdad whilst the army was first moving into the city.

Aircraft you want to see at the WFFC
Adriandavies replied to Fleahop's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I don't think there are any airworthy DH Mosquitos left . Such a cool plane. One of my favorites. -
I don't know how much you guys know about jumping in the UK but we have a flight line check system in place which stops people getting on the plane without having their gear on and fully adjusted. Everyone has to have this check and are not allowed to board the plane without it. Licenced jumpers can check each other but only instructors can check students or tandem's. These flight line checks are part of the B certificate requirements here. Also at the DZ where I jump we are given regular count downs from an intial 20 minute call and double manifesting is not generally allowed. Most of the time the load is ready well before the plane leaves, although there are still occasions where there are one or two stragglers who are late getting on. Even if they are late their gear would have been checked before they get to the plane.

I haven't skydived using the Freezr yet but I've just been in the Bodyflight tunnel and have found the helmet to be comfortable, very secure and offering great visibility. My glasses fit in it with ease but I've found that it has taken quite a while to fit my Protrack into a comfortable position. The pocket where it fits is in a horizontal position but I found it much more comfortable in a more vertical orientation.

Dean Fisher, one of BPS Langar's erstwhile instructors, celebrated the 40th anniversary of his first jump today. 6492 jumps since starting he is still jumping, learning new things and dispatching RAPS students. At 67 maybe he is one of the oldest birdmen around having taken up that discipline earlier this year.

Can't decide which DZ to choose for AFF (UK vs USA)
Adriandavies replied to stevechew's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I can't give you any personal experience about learning in the States but I can talk about Langar. It is an excellent DZ with a lot of very good and up to date instructors, good student gear, great aircraft and a huge landing area. They also have a can do attitude when it comes to AFF although progression later can be a bit more hit and miss and it is also a bit cliquey. Doing AFF there will help you get over the cliques though. There are also two wind tunnels close by which can be used if you do get stuck on any levels. On the other hand you've already pointed out some of the positive points about the US. -

Do water bombing aircraft have bomb bays which skydivers could exit from? -
In Europe Jan's Beech99 is 7 mins to 14000. It also has a nice big door (bigger than a King Air's?).

Need chutes that are no longer sky worth
Adriandavies replied to sbeslick's topic in Gear and Rigging
Also try Ebay. Old rounds regularly come up for sale at low prices on there. -
Bodyflight is cheaper than Aerokart though!

Turbine lift ticket prices - US only please
Adriandavies replied to Reginald's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Why is there such a difference in price between the two DZs? -
Jan's Beech 99...he doesn't own any Otters anymore but his Beech is a beautiful and fast plane.

$1bn Stolen through Corruption in Iraq
Adriandavies replied to Adriandavies's topic in Speakers Corner
Yep I agree but whilst that was bad it is also nasty knowing that a new bunch of cronies have now taken over and have decided to make a quick buck whilst a lot of other people are suffering. I suppose that its human nature that someone will always try to make a personsal financial killing whenever an opportunity presents itself. -
$1bn Stolen through Corruption in Iraq
Adriandavies replied to Adriandavies's topic in Speakers Corner
According to BBC.co.uk: All this is happening whilst civilians, local military and police and US and British troops are being killed and injured on a daily basis. If anything good is happening in Iraq it is either taking a long time or it is getting over shadowed by BS like this? How many hospitals or schools would $1bn have paid for in Iraq. How many lives would it have saved instead of what I assume are local fat cats lining their own pockets? -
woohoo... another killing kittens game :P

...and what about some of the bullshit you have to put up with in work? Our sales director loves this stuff called colours training. Its basically about how to judge customer's personalities and how best to sell to them. I think that if you are a good sales person you don't need this crap, but there are plenty of brown noses in the company who love to suck up to the powers at be and say how good it is. What really irritated me most about the training was that all the trainer's examples of how well it worked were entirely self validated ie he had no empirical proof about how well it worked. I've now got to pass this training on to my staff but as I haven't bought into it I am going to find it hard. At the same time I've either got to tell my manager that I think its bullshit or just lie to him!

Personally when I interview people I normally say that I'll be back in touch within 3 or 4 days. That gives me time to contact the successful candidate and the back up if the first one turns me down, and then have time to write to the unsuccessful people turning them down. That way no one gets too annoyed/disappointed if they don't hear from me within 24 hours. I would howver get pretty annoyed if someone started chasing me to find out what my decision was unless I had invited the correspondence.

Prices are up on Airkix (SkyVenture UK) website for FS tunnel camps
Adriandavies replied to UKFSChick's topic in Wind Tunnels
A lot of people have commented about the prices of the UK tunnels but both of them are cheaper than Aerokart and they will both have better airflow. Going to an American tunnel is great if you are going there on holiday but if you want regular sessions and to build your skills these UK tunnels are your best alternative. Part of the US price advantage is down to exchange rates but if you think back two years when the exchange rate was worse the £ rates were about 20% higher than they are now. If the $ strengthens then the price difference will reduce again. -
Yep, it was pretty coolthe first three times it ws posted, too. Wow, well then logically it will be even cooler if it gets posted a 4th time then!

Dukes are lovely but need a lot of attention especially in comparison to a Jap equivelent. They are however lovely to look at and ride and sound great especially if you put some less restrictive pipes on it. As an alternative how about a modern Triumph? My last bike was a T595 Speed Triple. It looked good, handled well, was reasonable comfortable, 145 mph fast, 45 - 50 mpg is ridden more slowly, good service intervals and wasn't too harsh on chains or tyres. It was also a little bit different from the other Jap bikes around.

I saw a documentary called Pleasure Seekers on a UK TV channel. One thread was about a group of older women going on package holidays to get their rocks off with young men, but the other story was about two skydivers who wanted to jump naked. They were British guys jumping at Empuria in northern Spain. Spain is kind of conservative so the DZO or manifest took a lot of persuading before they allowed it. Even when they gave permission the landing had to made as far away from the main landing area as possible and the guys had to wear trousers until they got into the plane.
