  1. there one for sale on ebay.com right now. I don't know how to make the ad clicky though. 'Pioneer ParaCommander, many logbooks worth of jumps but still airworthy. Canopy is black with a multi-color "keyhole" (Church Window pattern). DOM is June '71. Includes Pioneer short sleeve and pilot chute. Pretty good condition - many jumps left on canopy. Rigger owned and maintained - always kept in A/C and dark closet. A classic canopy - an oldie but a goodie. E-mail for additional photos.'
  2. I've just been speaking to Simon Ward about progress at Airkix and things seem to be going really well. Take up for the tunnel camps has been very good so far so it seems if you want to fly with World Champions you need to book soon. Bookings by whuffos have also been good with up to 25% of tunnel time already being sold to them on some days!
  3. Barcelona, Southern Ireland, Istanbul, Prague, Poland, Croatia particularly the Dalamatian coast,
  4. the road thing also has a reason. It comes from the days before cars, when people rode horses. A higher proportion of people are right handed, and wore their swords on the left side to be able to extract it from the holster (prob not right word) with their right hand. By riding on the left side of the roadways, the ends of the swords didn't hit each other when someone came in the opposite direction. Napoleon decided he wanted things different from the English for the French and changed things over. The French could convince the rest of the continent to do things their way which was harder for the English to enforce... tash hee hee...that was going to my next post so thanks for this info.
  5. The US prices are only this low at the moment due to the $ being so weak. I don't know exact historical rates but two years ago £1 would buy about $1.5 now it buys $1.75 a 16% increase. On that basis 30 minutes was £220. Any way with two tunnels in the UK no one should have problems booking time and they are the sort of thing you can go an visit regularly particularly over winter meaning that you can continue to build skills rather than making one big effort maybe once a year. Also on pricing both tunnels are a lot cheaper and seemingly better 'quality' than Aerokart.
  6. This explanation sounds the most logical so far...
  7. Its been 7 years since the Brit 100 so I'm beginning to think its time that someone organised an attempt to break our record. There is a huge amount of experience in the country ranging from the Brit Chick's record holders to the British participants in the World Record formation, then last weekend Milko and Lesley put together an impromtu 63 way. I know that it will take a lot of organisation but maybe the time is right to start the project rolling.
  8. ...errr that's it really. Why do Americans write dates as month day year rather than the day month year? Its bugged me for a long time and gets really annoying when my MS Word programme set for English English and not American English always offers to put the date in my documents the American way round!
  9. Silly me...DZ Sports at Hinton have them on their website!
  10. Does anyone know where to get a Bonehead Havok in the UK? I have tried the websites of all the UK dealers but none have any in stock and although I could get one via the internet I really want to try one on first. Failing that I'll get a Freezr!
  11. Fishproducts seems to be turning up in quite a few threads and making non sensical random remarks. The only link with between his or her comments is that they all appear on UK themed threads (Air Kix windtunnel thread, incidents and now this one about UK FS).
  12. You will have to do something a lot more original in the way of stunts if the mace in the face stunt is anything to go by. Jackass raised the bar pretty high as far as survivable stupidty is concerned. You are either going to have to find very unique stunts in order to sell your DVD or leave them out all together and let the skydiving sell itself.
  13. Woo hoo...the fastest climbing plane in Europe is coming to the UK for a long weekend! Cool.
  14. Basically you have to learn how to pack as a part of the JM1 course and therefore you need it to get your B certificate. To get the packing certificate you have to satisfy the following: Has been tested to the following standards: 1) Reassembled a parachute assembly, having been stripped down to component parts. 2) Cleared the canopy/lines of twists and tangles. 3) Performed a line sequence check. 4) Knows how to perform all the packing checks at the appropriate stages. 5) Packed the parachute ready for jumping. 6) Instructed on how to inspect the assembly for damage and deterioration. 7) Instructed in container/canopy compatibility. Also look at section 6.9 of the ops manual. This is as easy or as hard as the examiner wants to make it but be prepared to find inversions and lines going places which you would never normally expect (eg through the grommets of the slider...thanks to Can Can). A packing course will normally help to get you to this standard and to the point where you can pack and jump your own gear but you have to be supervised by another skydiver with a packing certificate (please correct me if I'm wrong about this). To pack unsupervised you need the certificate.
  15. Stu Albon...Winter Sun Skydiving stuart@wsskydiving.freeserve.co.uk He also jumps at Headcorn regularly. Phil Curtis Phil@air-supply.co.uk jumps at Langar mainly when in the UK There are loads of BPA instructors around who take students abroad. The ones I've mentioned are just two who I know and have jumped with. Pick up at copy of Skydive the Mag or look up the BPA website and dropzone links/webpages and you'll find more.
  16. ...what they all said, except that I'd suggest phoning around a few dz's and see what impression you get from the CCI or the instructors you speak to. DZ's can be cliquey so you may get different advice from different DZ's. Also try visiting your chosen DZ midweek as then the staff will have more time to talk to you and to take you through any refresher training.
  17. UK DZ's often are in closed air space but that doesn't stop some pilots occasionally violating it. It just goes to show that you should check your airspace before you exit.
  18. Try any DZ in Spain or Koloma in Russia (£8 I think). Nearer to Jersey NWPC on Mondays and Fridays when they are £15 each, Chatteris drop to £13 each if you jump at least 5 times in a day.
  19. Errr...has anyone thought about advertising it more widely? I jump in the UK and if it wasn't for the comments on DZ.com I would not have known it was on. It is called the WORLD Free Fall Convention but the only advertising for it seems to be done in America. Foreign DZ's and boogies regularly advertise in the British Skydive magazine so why didn't/couldn't the WFFC? Secondly if more Europeans are to be attracted to it why not hold it earlier in the year in April or May? Airfares would be cheaper for us and it would not clash with the height of our season or our best weather. In a way that would also make it a great season opener for the US participants as well.
  20. Today I found an ad for Toucan Telecom in a British newspaper. Again it used a picture of a skydiver but this one looks as if the rig is correct in every detail. Some art directors can get things right if they want to
  21. 16 way FS competition 27-29August 40 way formations 3-4 September Skydive skills camp 30 Aug - 2 September Tues. 30th August till Fri. 2nd Sept. Langar has a Skydiving Skills Camp. 22. The weather is looking better for this weekend! No rain, some clouds and light winds.
  23. Bloody nice looking umbrella though. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread. I'm going to start looking for a 320. Cheers. BSBD Adrian
  24. I even emailed MC to aks them about the lack of canopy...but they didn't reply!
