There are three kinds of skydivers ... Those that can count, and those that can't. website: http://www.dickmcmahon.com

Skymedic's situation above is a bit like mine. Have been through the cancer scare, diabetes, and a lot of other near-miss death situations. It seems like it has only been until skydiving found its way into my life that I have really FOUND life ... why is that? That's strange, isn't it? Here we are engaging in a high-risk sport, and finding "life" in it! Maybe is has something to do with "living on the edge". To see life and the beauty of it, you have to step back from it a little. Wow, this is getting pretty deep! Well, your posts here did prompt me to hide a note for my family letting them know I love 'em. Thanks, Dick P.S.: My wife makes some good beer-bread. Would that be acceptable at the dropzone instead of beer when I do my 100th? http://www.dickmcmahon.com

Yea, on my 6th jump. It was a line-over. As a new student I looked at it for what seemed like a long time trying to see if it looked like those pictures of malfunctions. It wasn't until it started pulling me sideways that I realized "this isn't supposed to work this way" and cut it away. When I got down some guys ran out and said I had to buy beer. http://www.dickmcmahon.com

I'm recently off student status. Exit weight = about 225 lbs. Am considering buying the Sabre-TWO 210. Anybody have any thoughts? Thanks, Dick http://www.dickmcmahon.com

Has anybody here had experience with the Sabre2 ? Am considering getting one. http://www.dickmcmahon.com

... the video is a possible fabrication? Come on! If anything looked fake, it was seeing the video of airliners crashing into the New York towers. We would have said the special effects were no good if it were a Hollywood disaster movie. Yet, it was real! Sure, TV technology can do a lot these days ... but the stakes are too high to fake the bin Laden tape. The administration HAD to be very careful on this one. http://www.dickmcmahon.com

Carpal Tunnel is one of those new skydiving wind tunnels, right? http://www.dickmcmahon.com

My first was on JUMP-6 ... a line-over. If you're interested you can read about it by clicking the link below. http://www.dickmcmahon.com

I went to SkyVenture in Orlando last June for the "Touch of Magic" tunnel skills camp. Prior to that I was having major problems with instability in freefall. In the tunnel you don't have to worry about altitude ... you can concentrate fully on what various body movements do against the wind. The only problem I had was in losing one of my earplugs ... the noise is incredible! My coaches were great and the tunnel personnel are very friendly. It ain't cheap ... but it's worth it! Go for it! http://www.dickmcmahon.com

It's simple! Just do the best PLF you ever did! http://www.dickmcmahon.com

Yes, John's book is good! I also bought one of his meditation audio cassettes, but haven't had a chance to use it. There are too many clouds, and too much rain in Oregon to do much jumping right now. (The days are too short too!) Hope I don't forget how! http://www.dickmcmahon.com

Skydivers are probably better at appreciating moments like that having been trained to be "aware"! Thanks. http://www.dickmcmahon.com

Hey Wingnut: Be careful ... What you do in that hour might be counted TWICE! At 2am, the clock will go back one-hour, which means the time between 1am-2am will repeat itself. If you rob a bank at 1:15, you might be charged with TWO robberies. http://www.dickmcmahon.com

Just found out the parachute I used last week was torn to shreads on the next jump after I left. The guy cutaway OK. http://www.dickmcmahon.com

Beer to everyone who reads this (cyber beer)

As of about 3-hours ago I was taken off "student status", and am now an official "novice". Not sure what happens next. http://www.dickmcmahon.com -
Yea, the thrill seekers show WAS on THE LEARNING CHANNEL. They've been repeating it every 6-months or so. Another interesting phenonmenon about skydiving is the "risk homeostasis theory" which says that while the sport has become safer (better equipment, AAD's, etc.) deaths have remained about the same because we all have an inherent risk level we like to maintain. If anyone is interested, I'll pass on to you some website links that have some detailed information about this. http://www.dickmcmahon.com

Am I missing something here? You all sound like a bunch of sensitive wimps, not skydivers! If you don't like what you see, leave ... or change it. http://www.dickmcmahon.com

JOHN: Gotcha beat by one jump ... I had a cutaway on the 6th jump because of a line-over malfunction. It's a honor I'd rather not have. Some guys rushed out and hugged me then said I had to buy beer. I don't know if they were happy a student survived, or if they were just thirsty. DICK http://www.dickmcmahon.com
