  1. I don't know if this ties into the conversation, but I dropped my pants in a public parking lot today. It happened when I was carrying a bunch of clothes into the dry cleaners.
  2. Story from CBS News ... ________________________________ Marines Busted For Parachute Sabotage CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C., Jan. 30, 2003 (AP) Two Marines have been arrested in the suspected sabotage of more than a dozen parachutes last fall, officials said. Three jumpers were slightly injured when they were forced to use their reserve chutes. No charges were filed immediately against Lance Cpl. Antoine D. Boykins, 21, and Lance Cpl. Julian Ramirez, 25, who were placed in the brig Tuesday night, Staff Sgt. Jay Connolly said. Boykins and Ramirez are air delivery specialists with 2nd Transportation Support Battalion, 2nd Force Service Support Group. Their hometowns were not immediately available. Special agent Klain Garage of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service would not say what led to the arrests. The three Marines were hurt in the training jump Sept. 21 when their main parachutes failed, forcing them to use reserve chutes. They were jumping from a C-17 Globemaster during heavy equipment parachute training. When they returned to Cherry Point Air Station, the jump masters in charge discovered that in all, suspension lines on 13 of 25 parachutes had been cut and the chutes repacked to hide the sabotage. The day before the incident, other jumpers went through training and the parachutes were stored in a large locker that had only three keys, Marine officials said. ______________________________________
  3. In a 300-way, how do the people in the middle track away and pull without getting tangled with other jumpers? Maybe pulling at different altitudes? _______________________________
  4. That's exactly what happened to me, but the risers tore thing completely off my wrist. Landing went fine ... just guessed when to turn on final, etc. ______________
  5. Why is it called the FRONT of the church when you're outside of it, but it's the BACK of the church when you're INSIDE? ___________________________
  6. Ken: Is there a wind tunnel in the U.K. where you can work on your stability? In a tunnel you don't have to worry about "falling from an airplane" or watching your altimeter. You can just concentrate on body position, and try various turns, maneuvers, etc. _________________________
  7. Max: You need to come back to Oregon. The weather has been great this year. Good for skydiving. Oh, in answer to your question, I work for the local TV station in C.B. __________________________

  9. Thanks for the information Erno! I'll check it out. Dick ________________
  10. Ed: I was scared as hell jumping again after my injury. Actually felt physically sick from fear, and kept asking myself, "Why am I doing this?" Once I landed on the next jump, I knew why? ______________________
  11. I know it's not always recommended, but I enjoy jumping without a helmet. Is there any way to have an audible jumping like that? Thanks ______________________
  12. Hopefully no one saw me go to this movie. I wouldn't want people to think I like seeing a bunch of crazy masochists. The golf course bit with the horns was pretty funny. Had to cover my eyes for the "paper cuts" scene, and WISH I had covered my eyes during some of the gross stuff. Am I sick for going to see this flick? _______________________

  14. Steve: Your post really got to me. My wife and I almost lost our little girl a long time ago when she was hit by a car. Fortunately she survived. We'll say some prayers for you at church this morning. ___________________

  17. Josh: I don't know where you are in Oregon, but it's not where I am. The weather has been great! Hang in there. ________________
  18. You may have already done the jump by the time you read this, but if not ... hang in there. The "fear demons" work overtime after an injury. You might even feel physically sick anticipating the jump. Once you get past this you'll feel GREAT! There's no better feeling (except maybe sex) than over- coming fears! Just keep mentally reviewing every- thing you'll do on the jump. Yea, I'll say some prayers for you ... I don't carry much weight with the Guy upstairs, but you'll do fine anyway. _______________________________
  19. I'm not real close to God (would like to be though), but, YEA, I pray when skydiving. It's usually a 2-part prayer. The first is a simple Thank you God when I see a good canopy over my head. And, part-2 is after I land and goes something like God, that was GREAT! We really ARE blessed to experience skydiving. Not many people ever get to do anything like this ... come to think of it, maybe they don't want to! ____________________________
