  1. I concur with freaky.....always learning.....getting off "student" status to me means being self supervised.....now i have to go find a jm to jump with instead of having one assigned to me....(hey ...I know ya wana go freefly...but...I'd love a little help with.....followed by a big lost look) Enjoy your student status and suck up every second of instructor time that u can........After all instructors dont want to go do fun jumps...they perfer to stay belly to earth and help ppl like you and me.
  2. quality footage! i especially enjoyed the bonus track "crashing into canadians." eeeeep
  3. Drink beer.....its less snooty
  4. Psssst....dont forget the new "solo" lic from the CSPA
  5. Another Q...how do u make the damn url's clicky friendly?
  6. Excellent question.......The new "solo" lic is close to being the old "A" lic whereas the new "A" lic has become a little harder. I was gona copy and paste the "solo" requirments but I am unfamiliar with adobe reader so here is the link http://www.cspa.ca/cspa/Students/CoP2001Mar16CDv2.pdf. [url] Having just gotten my solo and working towards my A...I would love to know how US DZ's would view my lic...as im sure many other students from Canada would. Thx and Blue Skies
  7. Cool site....I wonder what kind of G's are pulled in a good sprial( the kind where every 360 has your legs begging you to stop it...because the leg straps are becoming part of you)? With a concern about how your pacemaker will handle G forces....you prob wont be doing them mailin...but now I'm curious
  8. I think anyone new to the sport will find themselves noticing "new" muscles....Try doing 4 or 5 jumps plus spending half the day on the packing matt(next morning you may find yourself speaking in the groan and moan language) I find that streaching before, during and after really helps....being in shape may also help but I must keep developing my freefall weight(beer gut ) Ever try wake boarding??? Lots of new muscles there . I never thought my butt could be that stiff..hehe

    Road Rules

700...got caught out on the interstate signs and there directional meanings.
  10. Hey bro........welcome to the forums and congrats on the sale of your house(and wife).....maybe you should buy the guy who got ya into the sport a jump or 2..hehe Blue Skies and ARCH
  11. Sorry cant help you with the apperance of TP...but i must say that your KB is way too clean...drop some ashes or spill pop on it
  12. Sounds good man....got the monkey off your back....paranoia does have a way of creeping up on you after after a mal or a less then perfect jump...You will back to your normal anxiety level next couple of jumps ...hehe. I was hoping to jump this weekend...but due to weather and a friend who "forgot" to pick me up, I didnt get to...shit happens and there is always next weekend. Blue Skies
  13. 1200 ft!!!!!!...maybe you should review ure packing method....thats a long "snivel" ...I'd be looking for the big silver handle. I wave off at 4k...arch... pull (3500)...back to arch...look right(incase pc gets in the burble)...check canopy....normally under full canopy before 3k.. I have seen my canopy open many times(love to watch it open..pop pop pop)....have only seen the bag once in FF...hope never to see it again .
  14. Sorry my mistake...but I think the advise is still good...Head up look at the instructor...pop into and hold the arch.....time for a few more details(as I'm sure you have relized by my profile...I am NOT a instructor!). Rember..on a "IAD" there isnt a lot of time to be in a arch before opening...if u can do a nice arch standing.......I'm sure you can do one for real reguardless of the exit!(head up, limbs out and thrust that pelvis:P). If your not advancing......raz up your instructors for the extra help...if you are still not "getting it".try your other local DZ and a hanging exit ..... Once you figure it out and get to FF...it will all make sence.
  15. Thx man...best laugh ive had in ages.....but the others in the plane tommorow will know that the ribs I BBQ'ed tonight had a little zing...hopefully no one had a curry night.......I dont wana be out done.....if there is a "frank" on my load...I'll wait for the next one
  16. A quick wipe with battery acid before using a pressure washer also helps.
  17. At work every 6 months wether we need to or not we attempt to clean the one from our lunch room with a steam pressure washer...then proceed to replace it after it makes funny noises, sparks alot and snaps the breaker.......Damn lack of female mechanics
  18. Congrats!!!...do you static line, IAD or AFF a baby??...its time to decide Congrats and best wishes
  19. Practice practice practice......use your school's mock up or the plane when it is parked.....ask a instructor to help you(most are eager to help)....go through the entire exit and hang(bending over for the pin check, getting ready at the door, door opening, climb out, and hang) as you are hanging you should be looking right at your instructor(head up) once you get the "go" signal, pop into your arch never taking your eye's off the instructor(this keeps your head up helping to maintain your arch)....hold the arch for several seconds(ARCH thousand, 2 thousand,3 thousand,4 thousand, check right, check canopy). Practice this over and over...making sure to keep your head up and looking at the instructor!!!!! A few years ago when myself and a few friends took the course and started doing IAD's , our instructor told us to practice our arch...at home, at work and especially while at the DZ waiting to jump(fyi...walking into a bar yelling ARCH then arching will get you some very odd looks) I am sure that once you have practiced on the ground enough, it will be almost automatic when time comes for your next jump. Good Luck and Blue Skies
  20. Welcome......PLZ stop yelling....I'm sure everyone hears u just fine
  21. Congrats on your 1st skydive and welcome to the sport that may consume your old idenity....the AFF program is the fastest way to become a "real" skydiver..however it is prob. one of the more expensive ways to do so.....some DZ's offer a IAD (instructor aided deployment) PFF program (progressive FreeFall)...which is usually quite a bit cheaper (Myself...33 jumps/including course..$1500 Canadian.) Mind you...the progression rate is much slower(I am sure there are AFF students who's FF skills far exceed my FF skills)....but the cost and time issues are not quite so overwhelming...I am not sure if this program is offered at many U.S. DZ's (seems to be mostly a Canadian thingy) but I figured it wouldnt hurt to provide a little info and a possible alternitive to the options you have at present...Keep at it and Blue Skies
  22. Take your time...on my 1st practice pull i missed and ended up tossing the paper (I started doing IAD's) under canopy...The thing is that your still doing it....enjoy every jump, you will get it soon I'm sure and the extra jumps u are makeing will only help your nervousness(new word ) and the extra canopy time never hurts...personally i love the canopy rides
  23. Its also possible to do the hokey pokey under canopy but its much more fun to do it in freefall
  24. Cool pic's and congrats to Ben and Corn Nut on there 100th jump!
  25. I'm glad to hear that your OK. I just had my 1st mal a few jumps ago (self induced, high speed...got out of it fine) and although i wasn't scared at the time ( no time to be scared) the next week when i went back, I was extreemly anxious of FF deployments...so i decided to do a "hop and pop"...went great and i learned a contributing factor to my self induced mal....felling more confident i went back to 10k and 2 jumps later, I am glad for the experiance and lesson learned.....You should also feel more confident after your lesson ( although your mal was prob packing related and not stupidity as mine was)....you did the right thing...u identified a problem..."i cant fly this!!!!" and cut it away...Keep at it and i hope to hear a follow up as to how your next jump goes!!....Blue Skies
