  1. Hey, Sorry to bring alive the old thread... I've seen that too - I was digging through a surplus auction here and they had a bunch of T10's and T10Rs that couldn't have been more than 10 years old.... Ah, government waste...
  2. I voted No. Not because I'm against legalizing pot, but we need to look at a few other issues. Drunk driving is a huge problem. What would be the effect of "stoned Driving." How about this - if you are convicted of Drunk/stoned driving, then we remove the problem, instead of putting you in jail. You car gets auctioned and the government buys you a shiny new bicycle.
  3. He everybody. I don't have any useful contribuitions yet, but you know how someone always shows up and makes it CLICKY ? Yeah, that's what I"m doing. Carry on boiling your lobsters or whatever you guys were doing. =========Shaun ==========
  4. If I ran a drugstore, and I had a competing drug store right next to me, then what do I do? Lower prices, put up big signs, invest in other advertising. I want people to go to my drugstore. Lets say I do it right. Then I have the customers, and the other drugstore is going out of business. Horray I win!!! Oh wait, on closing day, the Government comes by and signed them a check for all they need and then some. What the hell? Rewards for failure. =========Shaun ==========
  5. Sure you can. Afterwards. =========Shaun ==========
  6. Good call - I'm almost 100% sure that the actuaries don't have reliable information on skydiving - I'd bet they just see the occasional $100,000+ accident hit the radar and they think "hmm, how can I not pay that..." Has anyone contacted USPA about this? I'm going to call my regional director and see... =========Shaun ==========
  7. Hey, I invest, pay my bills, and live within my means. I'm MORE than happy to pay for someone else to live in a house that we all knew they couldn't afford... =====>SC please =========Shaun ==========
  8. Well, I hope she's proud of what she's accomplished. A x-hundred dollar fine for $3.99 10-piece of chicken nuggets. =========Shaun ==========
  9. I agree - you would think that the rigger would miss that extra 1" of the closing loop when he tried to close those last two flaps...... Honestly, I made this mistake before, but I caught it myself long before I came close to closing the container. =========Shaun ==========
  10. I've heard this before, but I never saw anything on it. Who were his 'buddies' and where do the complaints of elitism fall into place. =========Shaun ==========
  11. Well, I have several Army/Navy 24" and 26", plus this supposed T-10R. Perfect. I have the engineering drawings from 1940+ - I actually asked around a few Master Riggers and a friend of mine in KC had them. It seems like a simple project to practice some of the basic skills. Paragear had the chest-snaps, cones, Material, all for really cheap. I'll post pictures as the project comes along - I think it will be a hoot. =========Shaun ==========
  12. I believe it is. I filled it up, and it was not conical like the ones Strong is currently manufacturing for Sport Pilot use. This is wonderful - I hope it's a 24" T-10. I dug this thing up for a reason. I'm going to reverse engineer an exact replica of a chest-mount reserve as a master rigging project. =========Shaun ==========
  13. Yes. I try to not rent from them anymore. I hate it how having a video one day late is more than it costs to rent it for 2 weeks.....for a non-new release.... WTF? =========Shaun ==========
  14. Hey, I have a canopy is wonderful condition that I'm going to use to practice sewing techniques. I think it would be very common - but digging through my poynters manuals, I can't put a make or model to it.. - It is a Military Canopy, All white, F1-11, Reserve - 24 Gore, Bias Construction - DOM April 1958 - Serial # DA-58-61148 - Opening bands around the skirt, after close examination, I can't tell if they were origonal or an addon when the canopy found its way into sport use. Does anybody know what this is? =========Shaun ==========
  15. I second Lou. JS Just built me pretty mis-matched rig (200 Reserve, 300 main) for my accuracy rig. Looks kinda goofy but it does the job!!! =========Shaun ==========
  16. Sometimes I wonder what people DID at work before the Internet. Now If I were a manager, I'd be upset (naturally) if my employees were cruizing DZ.com all day and not producing anything. I'd fire their asses, but I have a hard time understanding employeers that freak out if they so much as see a yahoo.com toolbar... =========Shaun ==========
  17. Using the internet at work for personal Business. If you have a web browser in the background and you casually search while working, count that as 1/2 time.. Hmm, I'm afraid to answer my own question. I'll wait til I get home.... =========Shaun ==========
  18. As long as Jumpshack keeps making their fine line of Racers after John is long gone, I'm a happy camper. Congrats to John Though. I'll have to call and bother him today. =========Shaun ==========
  19. I've seen business goonies that fly first class from my Company and I asked them why. Same type of story as to why people get private jets - "When we land, we don't have time to wait for unboarding of all the rows in front of us. We have waiting for us and we just need to run" So, and extra 2 minutes of boss time ==$700? I think if you want to piss away money like that, you can use status for any justification. Notice how most airways are going to all coach seating.. Only a few still have a 'first class' =========Shaun ==========
  20. HAHA I remember those loads - watching the numbers and the end of the runway scream by the absolute second the pilot nudged the beast into the air. I think the CASA was pushing it.... =========Shaun ==========
  21. I'm pretty sure this guy's on Drugs... =========Shaun ==========
  22. I think I'm going to ask them... I'd like a chest mount reserve for my own collection, but I know no rigger that I know of would sign off and sell a 50+ year old piece of history. Granted, I'm willing to bet that it's exmilitary riggers...They would be most familiar with the system.. =========Shaun ==========
  23. I apologize if this has been covered before. I'm snooping around for a chest reserve to practice on, and I keep running into these.... All over Ebay, and all over different surplus shops. I've seen them as old as 1947. Who "certifies" this stuff as the ads claim? Do they really have some rigger willing to stamp off a 50 year old surplus container as airworthy to sell to the public? Am I being to pessimistic about the condition of this stuff, or is this straight up false advertising? =========Shaun ==========
  24. Hmm, a few buddies of mine had oscar parties and I just didn't give enough of a shit to go. If I went everytime, I'd be at a a)Ms. America Pagent b)Oscar Party c)Grammy d) Golden Globe e)MTV Music Awards f)Ms. Universe (hmm, with Ms. Venezuela
