I think most dropzones I go to do a fabulous job - the only kinds I would avoid are ones that 1)Use Sketchy Student Gear. One I can think of off the top of my head. Racks and racks of gear I wouldn't put my my neighbors dog under, and they keep using excuses for 'safety' to not update it. There is an issue of pride there too - at least take CARE of your student gear... Don't just throw in piles at the end of the day... 2) A dropzone I know of that looks at a students wallet as they show up the first day, and they start salivating. =========Shaun ==========

People that put their babies on the phone with me. It's annoying as shit. If your kid can't talk, please don't hold the phone to my ear and expect me to make baby noises..... I don't know why, but whenever I go to my wife's parents place, someone always sticks a phone to my ear to say "hi" to someones baby. It's awkward. =========Shaun ==========

Quick loop on a Vector III? What what what?

Thanks for the great info Jerry. Anybody know which manufacturers besides Jumpshack, Reflex, and Teardrop have approved this device? =========Shaun ========== -

Now I'm not against the Bailout; as an Industrial Engineer, I think that the manufacturing sector of our economy is more important that anybody in Washinton Realizes. I just think that the GM head honchos are going to, in 5 years or so, find some political schmoozebag to get them off the hook for their debts. It's a familiar song that the Execs are all too good at.. =========Shaun ==========

Quick loop on a Vector III? What what what?
Unstable replied to Unstable's topic in Gear and Rigging
Do you have an example of a Manufacturer that has approved these Lodi Loops? Can I see a letter or something? I'd like to see one from a non-poptop manufacturer... =========Shaun ========== -
I like how we are calling them loans. It's almost like we think GM is going to pay them back or something!!! lol =========Shaun ==========

Stimulus "Loophole" Gives 300,000 Jobs to Illegals
Unstable replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
I'm a good conservative, and I'm all for this one too. Look, if we are going to have illegal kids in the US, we at a BARE MINIMUM need to make sure they are healthy - not to, as you say, keep the illegal flow coming in, but to maintain a level of public health. You don't want kids, legal or illegal, coughing with TB or taking cold medicine for Pneumonia. As an extreme exaggeration, you don't want to have mexican leper colonies in the rockies... =========Shaun ========== -
Agreed. I was born, raised, and currently live in a College Town. 60,000 Folks for a 25,000 student University. For the most part, we're in conservative America (Kansas). You would be surprised what three simple letters, P, H, and D can do to a person if they themselves were not sufficiently humble to begin with. They begin to believe that what they say is the ultimate truth, and even in academic environment, thought policing is sadly becoming a more common occurance. =========Shaun ==========

Quick loop on a Vector III? What what what?
Unstable replied to Unstable's topic in Gear and Rigging
See, maybe I'm just a square from Squaresville. If the V3 was not designed and TSO'd with that type of loop - then I don't want to see them in there. =========Shaun ========== -
Is the DMV in Your Town/County/State Run Efficiently
Unstable replied to Gawain's topic in Speakers Corner
I usually get in and out of the DMV pretty quickly, but the damn thing is never open. Seriously. Tuesday - Thursday, 10am-4pm, Friday 8am - 12pm. Two old ladies work there. I want their jobs!! =========Shaun ========== -
Quick loop on a Vector III? What what what?
Unstable replied to Unstable's topic in Gear and Rigging
From my perspective, I would want to see a Letter saying that this is Okay. I don't like them, but if You're going to make a lodi loop, at least make them well. Know what length you are starting out with so it's not sloppy. Please at least make two knots to hold it into the washer... =========Shaun ========== -
Quick loop on a Vector III? What what what?
Unstable replied to Unstable's topic in Gear and Rigging
This rig needs a loop of 115mm. (sorry I measure in Metric, I find it easier than trying to divide everything by 16th...) When this contraption was set to that length (about what you see in the picture) you get a loop that is about 60% above the entrance of the finger trap, leaving a huge "loop." If I saw this amount on even a normal 'cypres loop' I would consider it poor rigging, at best.... With this contraption, we had about 8" of cord, 2" loops, and only one knot of non-finger trapped loop to hold it to the washer. I may not be a popular guy for saying this, but I like things by the book. I'm not going to be a dick and go run this guy to the FAA, but I think this is a lazy and poor way to return a rig to a customer. I just hope that this gentleman did a proper pull test after he did the final tugs. Reflexes AND Teardrops have a wonderful tendency to be prone to hard pulls. This just lends that weakness to a far superior designed rig, IMHO. edited for grammer =========Shaun ========== -
Quick loop on a Vector III? What what what?
Unstable replied to Unstable's topic in Gear and Rigging
Jarrett, I think you and I are a lot alike. You jump racers; I jump racers. You like poptops, I like Poptops. You like Quick loops on Poptops, I like quickloops on poptops. I just dont' like them on containers that arn't designed for them. Your a good man. =========Shaun ========== -
Quick loop on a Vector III? What what what?
Unstable replied to Unstable's topic in Gear and Rigging
Pulled this out of a V3 in Ogden UT today. I'm digging through every piece of UPT literature saying that this is a good idea, but I'm not finding anything. Riggers and Riggets, please be careful out there! =========Shaun ==========
