  1. Yes, we have a few at our DZ that do and I replace their velcro on their reserve flap on a regular basis. Look, if a Dolphin has the updates that Mr. Furry has been building into his rigs for the last few years (i.e. Tuck tabs on main riser covers, bridle protection et cetera) then the only thing about a Dolphin I would be concerned about is the lack of tuck tabs on the reserve flap. If taken care of, it will stay down, but with worn velcro it opens and flaps around in a normal sit. =========Shaun ==========
  2. Good List, I think these are the defining traits of any Modern rig. However I feel that you can reasonably disagree with options 3 and 5 (by simply putting the reserve pins on your back, what better way to protect them!) and once again, #14 and #15 can be disagreed upon by other reasonable minds. This is a perfect example why I get tired of the term FreeFly Friendly... Because people throw it around with their own set of criteria, most of which could be disagreed upon by reasonable jumpers ~ hence the fact this thread is the length it is. =========Shaun ==========
  3. Sure ~ I appreciate it. shaunsmith_99 [AT] yahoo [DOT] com Thank! Can I put them up on this thread later after yo send them? =========Shaun ==========
  4. Amen to that ~ I think you deserve that and more! You should take advantage of that GI Bill, BTW. I have a lot of good buds here who have done wonders after leaving the service! =========Shaun ==========
  5. Dear Lord, I had to negotiate and finagle to get from 2 weeks to 3 weeks per year. =========Shaun ==========
  6. If they misplace one Skyvan, that baby is MINE! =========Shaun ==========
  7. No No NO NO NO No No No No No I'm not! PLEZZZ Don't let the weekend come! I have a Linear Model Final exam 7:30 Monday morning, and a final project and a final take-home exam due Monday by 5:00pm. I need more time, it can't be the weekend yet! =========Shaun ==========
  8. If so, is there a method that you find particularly useful? How do you do it? =========Shaun ==========
  9. Hmm, I have one bottle on my wall from a fellow who put a 190 in a student container. What was amazing was that he didn't really toggle whip it, he just did a slow, arcing 180 turn to set up a downwind leg, and *pop* out comes the reserve! Surprise! =========Shaun ==========
  10. hahahahaha How's this picture. You can make up all sorts of stories about that suspicious white stuff on my face... 1. Disguise 2. Something to do with me and lots of ladies 3. I decided to eat some C4 4. It's not cool-wHHHip, it's mayonnaise. =========Shaun ==========
  11. I was having a nice conversation the other day with Rigger Rob about this ~ but arn't C-9's near impossible to get in good condition these days? =========Shaun ==========
  12. Good! Correct me if I'm wrong, but Securities shouldn't be packed given the Manufacturer put a service life on their equipment and all GQ equipment is now older than given service life... I don't have anything, but I have been talking to a few people lately and seen a real need for 'big boy' pilot rigs ~ Corn Fed Americanskis in their little airplanes don't have a suitable rig with an appropriately sized emergency canopy.. =========Shaun ==========
  13. HA Good to hear from you Rigger Joe! Yes, I'll be in KC all next week rigging with Rigger Dave and getting practiced up for my MR exam. Wanna play next week? =========Shaun ==========
  14. Haha we have one of those ~ you're talking about the Humpback, right? yeah, that does kick! =========Shaun ==========
  15. Hmmmmm, I hope that news isn't true. Arn't they building it down by the Racetrack and the Great Wolf lodge? that whole area has become a high dollar touristy place ~ Good sushi resturants, losta family fun stuff, I would imagine it would fit right in. It would be nice ~ we could send our Students out there about the time they get ready for Freefall, and it would greatly speed up their progression... =========Shaun ==========
  16. Yup, he designed those and a LOT of other weapons, many which he sold to Colt or other manufacturers to make under their name. His father too, Jonathan Browning was a gun inventor as well, had a shop in Western Illinois you can tour. He did a lot of work on early repeating weapons. ***Interesting Factoid ~ John Browning grew up in a Polygamous household with 18 other siblings (Well, family history and Wikipedia don't agree on some of those numbers, but that's a different story). Well, he had a brother "John Edward Browning", who was very involved in manufacturing and designing firearms, and many times when you hear about a "John Browning" design, it was actually his brother "John Edward Browning" ~ so both of their designs became attributed to John Moses just by similarity of their names and time. John Ed was the machinist who prototyped almost all of their designs and made final improvements. =========Shaun ==========
  17. Congratulations!!! I Had to do a qualifier for my lowly MS in Engineering, and it was just a HUUUGE relief to be done. Good luck on the Thesis! What is your research in? =========Shaun ==========
  18. He was my Great-great Grandfather! My Grandmother who died about 10 years ago had a lot of great stories about him.
  19. What if it were at Our DZ?? Cool Program! =========Shaun ==========
  20. I can think of a few town here in Kansas that are nothing more than a Pitt stop on the highway, and they would fit that criteria appropriately. =========Shaun ==========
  21. I couldn't agree More. About 3 years ago, we had a problem at KSUPC where nobody wanted to take responsibility for scheduling tandems. I volunteered, and did that for almost 2 1/2 years. My word, we only do about 4-5 a day, but it's constantly answering emails, phone calls, explaining the same thing 10 times a day, waking up early on rainy days to reschedule, making certificates, damn, do TI's realize how much time it takes to make sure that the Tandem students are there, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed? Sounds like Martin Understands. =========Shaun ==========
  22. Whenever I've been pulled over, I've gotten a ticket. Usually for BS stuff - a. Coming to a rolling stop at a 4-way on a rural Kansas Road with no other cars for miles ~ $150 b. Going 75 in a 65 Zone on the Interstate in Iowa Coming back from Freaks. c. 78 in a 70 zone on I-70 coming back from seeing a GF at the time ~ What is Bullshit is that in that County, Tickets didn't start until 10 over. So I got a $75 'Court fine' with no speeding fine. WTF? I've been pulled over over 9,000 times here in this College town, but they are always just checking to see if I've been drinking. They see I'm sober, smile, and off I go. =========Shaun ==========
  23. *** Yeah, I know what you are talking about. Mirage too, opening that flap can really be a trick. Doesn't Vector offer a window on the backpad to have your display? =========Shaun ==========
