  1. I've got a good one.... Me: "Going to the DZ" Her: "Oh, thats nice. When will you be back?' Me: "Sunset-30." Her: "When's that?" Me: "Meh" =========Shaun ==========
  2. I agree. If your helmet doesn't match your rig, then what's the point? =========Shaun ==========
  3. I know, right? Cypres of Reserve, FXC on the main, and OUT YOU GO! =========Shaun ==========
  4. Pardon me if this is the wrong thead for this, but given the amount of malfunctions, the type of malfunctions, and the seriousness of them, maybe the Airforces method of training by taking the students straight to solo freefall isn't very wise. Cadet, College student, Soldiers, whatever, you never know what a student is going to do their first time up. =========Shaun ==========
  5. No. I mean, why are they even doing that? Look, a tandem is a special type of skydive with it's own special risks. Wing Suite Flying is it's own special skydive with it's own special risks. If there is one thing I've learned fro this sport, is that it's generally not a fantastic idea to mix and match risk factors. Reason #2 ~ what does the student really get from it anyway? =========Shaun ==========
  6. Done. Good luck! =========Shaun ==========
  7. Agree. At my University, we have a few spots (usually called "group study areas") that yapping is okay, but nothing irks me more than a loud library patron. My biggest pet peeve.... People that study listening to those monster headphones that still broadcast their music to everyone sitting nearby. I mean, what is the purpose of those headphones!! =========Shaun ==========
  8. They had three, they were actually $29 each and I bought 2 complete rigs today, there was one left (but it's 2 hours away). I was digging through the box of crap they have, and I found a bag marked "Recovery Parachute, 15'" and noticed safety stoes through the plastic. I opened it, and instead of a recovery chute, it was a full sleeve with the same markings, so I put one and two together and, hey, full rig! The only markings I can discern (I don't speak chinese) were "1991" which I assume is the DOM. I have them in my car, tomorrow I'm going to put up lots of photos. =========Shaun ==========
  9. hahahahahahhaha NOOOOOOO it's Unstable!! I win! I'm guessing Skybitch. She's a gunna be next. =========Shaun ==========
  10. Good point ~ we bought ours for about that much 2 years ago. Very good container and reserve, but we replaced the aging SET 400 with a 366... =========Shaun ==========
  11. Do I have any knowledge of that specific rig? No, we are in different states, time zones, et cetera. All I can say is that this isn't the first time we've seen this discussed, and as Lou Posted, the method for testing the reserve deployment to simulate accurately is HeRe . I would Ask of Friend here his methods for testing... =========Shaun ==========
  12. I'm a Jumpshack Dealer (not very 'active') but I just sold a 2k3 this week ~ absolutely fantastic rig. Lu has some good points ~ I hear BS about Racers every now and then, but the stuff I hear is stuff that someone saw on a 1995 Racer which could be applied to any 1995 rig. And reserve pin protection? None better. =========Shaun ==========
  13. Nope. I'm Unstable. Um, I guess LadyDoc. =========Shaun ==========
  14. Your post made me raf. =========Shaun ==========
  15. Hard. Very hard. Full time graduate student in engineering, Full Spring, full summer, and full fall. I'm pretty much tired 24/7 =========Shaun ==========
  16. Well, yes. But I was looking for some more specifics. Does anybody know where they came from, why there are so many, what they were used for, et cetera. =========Shaun ==========
  17. Sry. El Tortuga is at work/in the bathroom/making whoopi/reading another forum. Awl71. =========Shaun ==========
  18. I know something that has like 15 audibles. It's the farmers field right north of the DZ. If every time I organized a walk-through to find credit card, wallets, audibles, ripcords, et cetera, I'd almost have a jump ticket. =========Shaun ==========
  19. Hi Bob. My name is Shaun. And I want to thank Nina. K thnxx. =========Shaun ==========
  20. Did it beep right before it hit the ground? =========Shaun ==========
  21. I think Maybe Boinky is a very bored self-help group leader. Thanks for the boost of confidence, man. I'm going out tomorrow a new man. =========Shaun ==========
  22. Nope, I'm not sum other asshole, I'm unstable. This game is kinda funny with only like 3 people playing. =========Shaun ==========
  23. I guess Shropshire, and the post will contain some sort of masturbation reference.... =========Shaun ==========
  24. I got 3rd in USPA Collegiates in AZ for masters accuracy, I was pretty proud of that considering I was one of the 2 or 3 civilians competing against lots of Air Force guys with bigger, poofier canopies. =========Shaun ==========
  25. I've done a lot of math on this guy for our DZ (I'm on the board now as treasurer) and here is what I've figured... Assuming that a TM puts on between 100-200 jumps per season, lets make the following assumptions... a. Figure $400 in replacement parts per year (drouge and bridle are 2-year parts, et cetera) b. 2 Reserve repacks at $75 each c. Subsidize an AAD cost + maintenance of $175 per year d. Give your tandem investment a useful life of 9 year e. 4 year and 8 year check-ups at the manufacturer f. Relines every other season at $500 So, if you have a used rig (lets say $4,500) then your true cost is about $12-$17 per jump (depending on how much you use it, 100 or 200 jumper per year) and about $25-$30 per year if you have a new rig, lets say $12,000. I like that model, because it seems that the standard at most DZ's is about $35 per jump set aside for tandem equipment. *this is how it worked to our DZ, but I also figured in that we traded in our SET400 for a 366 =========Shaun ==========
