  1. Oh, also thanks to DZ.commers KansasSkydiver & SpeedyGonzales - Just yesterday, the put together a Suprise going away party. They are true friends... Dang, I'm going to miss this place! =========Shaun ==========
  2. I have some photographs here that some of you may enjoy!! Those of you who know me know That I am leaving here in about 5 days to serve as a Full-time missionary in S. Korea for two years - I felt that it was appropriate that I make my last skydive in a while in missionary attire. I guess the big guy didn't think it was funny, my last jump for a while was also my first Mal. This goes to show you that if you are going to jump in something like this, PLEASE go over & practice your E.P.'s on the ground and make sure that nothing will be in the way. Make sure both handles are accessable and you have enough fine motor control in the gloves. I did, and had a textbook cutaway & reserve deployment. Practice practice practice!! Also, I'd like to thank the guy who took those pictures, an Instructor at our DZ who posts here as BCH7773.
  3. So, Pretty much anything colder than 70 deg F. and you start bundelling up?? =========Shaun ==========
  4. Ah, I see that you are From Perris, CA. It must be hard jumping in a place like Southern California - Beautiful Weather year round, nice big airplanes, several DZ's that want your business - I feel bad for you. Us here in Northern Kansas Will think of you, next time we go up, okay?!?!? Seriously, That is a good idea to stay warm, but I think the solution to the problem is even easier than that. If you have a full-face, some reasonable protection along your body, arms, and Neck, and GOOD GLOVES, you shouldn't have a problem. Remember, you can have your torso nice & toasty, but still freeze if you hands & head are not properly covered. Hope this helped! =========Shaun ==========
  5. By the way - whats the deal with that? I've asked and Never really got a straight answer - Will it be turning soon? =========Shaun ==========
  6. I am VERY impressed with that Documentary - It gave our sport a positive image & didn't annoy us jumpers with whuffoisims... =========Shaun ==========
  7. I think that if you went straight Cheese, you would score big with your constituents in Wisconsin. However, you risk offending the cattle producers & big money in Texas by not going for the hamburger. IMHO, a Liberal would try to get one helluva pizza that EVERYBODY would love, and actually get a pizza that everybody thinks is just bland. A conservative would get a pizza that he feels would do the best with who he has at the party, and have most likely the same results. In the Words of a great man, Bill O'Reilly from the "No Spin Zone" and "Radio Factor", "I'm Conservative on some issues, liberal on some, and sane on most" =========Shaun ==========
  8. I'd be interested to see some comparative advantage statistics run on those who can pack professionally as well as pack their own. It would be nice to be able to manage my time most efficiently when I am at a boogie where I am packing my own, jumping, and Packing Sport rigs & tandems for profit. I think that I have yet to manage myself as efficiently as possible - I'm sure it's costing me in jumps and money.... =========Shaun ==========
  9. Dude, I'm still playing with my N64 I just bought last year. I think I'm a little behind the curve?!?! =========Shaun ==========
  10. This issue is much simplier than it is being made out to be. First off, if hard news is coming, give it to me, just have some degree of tact. No sugar-coating, simply courtesty & tact. My feelings of honesty are perpeptual - Here is how it works. I try to be an honest guy. I'm not perfect, but I'm no Hillary Clinton either. For the most part, I consider myself an honest upright person. I'm a church-boy.

    YO DZ.cummers!!!

Don't worry!! My sperm count is healthy & as soon as I find an Appropriate mate, I'll do my best to ensure the continued existance of our species!! Golly, I'm glad that most people view humans as more than smart monkies....
  12. There is no Snow on the runway, we are good to go!!!
  13. LOL!! Beat me to it!! You walked right into that one, Popsjumper....
  14. Why do you taunt me so? Why don't you just give me a paper cut and rub salt in it? Why don't you just come run over my dog?!?! =========Shaun ==========
  15. Can we get a link to it??
  16. Don't bother. I've got his signiture in mine right here. I think it's his. It starts with a D. The rest is just scribbles. Hmmmm, can I guess whats missing? Do you have a normal M-F weekday job that takes up some of your precious jumping time? =========Shaun ==========
  17. For my students who have ever asked "What happens if my Reserve doesn't open" I alwasy give the same reply. "LOOK". If you pulled and nothing has happened, visually connect with the reserve handle, and "PULL". More than one person has gone in after a cutaway while despiratly pulling on a lateral or Chest strap. "LOOK" =========Shaun ==========
  18. "The WFFC is where a Tandem Packer like me can show up broke, return home with $2000 and 50 more jumps." "The WFFC is the True home of Mullins King Air" I love the People of Rantoul. Both Years I've been to Rantoul I've had the opportunity to go and have dinner at Mayor Neils home. I always ask him about how the People of his city respond to the Convention, and except for one or two whiners who don't like airplanes flying ever, the people of the city love us. I met a lady in Rantoul named Judy. She lived next to the airport, and all she did for 10 days was run errands for the Skydivers in her Red van. She would guard the Runway, run tandems from the Yellow Tandem Tent to the planes, get food for Air Boss, et cetera. I asked her why she was there, and she could give no real answer other than she wanted to be. I love the People of Rantoul - It makes me glad I'm in the Midwest...
  19. My apologies, my wording was misleading. As far as I can tell from the discussions here, the only valid point (i.e - a point wherein both parties agree upon, or a non-refutable fact) I see is that it is a minor inconvience for a rigger to secure a reserve quick loop, since that component is part of the TSO'd system. Beyond that, this thread has actually PROVEN nothing. I am not a rigger, so I will just sit back and observe the technicle arguments, but I am sharp enough to discern what is opinion & what is fact. Granted, the first point I brought up is in fact an opinion (hell, maybe some Riggers Enjoy calling for more Quick loops...), I use that under the assumption that Mike has somewhat agreed to that point. Best regards, This post has been edited for Spelling and one gramatical error. No content has been changed as far as the meanings or intentions of my post. =========Shaun ==========
  20. For me, it's once in 426 Jumps. Very curious Mal, caused by a number of things (as everything is in this sport) Slider was hung at the cascades pinched by a tension knot, the pull tabs on the slider were involved in the tangles at the cascades, There was plenty of slack above & below the slider, lines with no tension were just flapping in the wind. =========Shaun ==========
  21. HA!! I love it. I've seen some like those at Miscellaneous Dropzones, but none quite as illustrated as that!! =========Shaun ==========
  22. I couldn't have said it better. Your post is appreciated. I have had this exact same discussion, almost word for word, on countless occasions. I like to associate it to trends... Where I come from, Javelin & Wings are Popular, Racers & Infinities are not. IMHO, it's kinda like how people need to have the right jeans in High School. I think that this is something we are going to see changing here very Shorty. The 2K3 has set aside all arguments against the Racer and then some. I jump my new Racer, and People are seeing the new Racer more & more. Two Years ago at Rantoul, there were maybe 5 People Jumping 2k3's that I knew of. This previous year, Not only were there many More, 5 People that are Regular posters here on DZ.com placed orders for 2K3's. They are getting out there, and people are realizing (some slower than others) what a Great Container they are.
  23. Sounds like you got your life together & your priorities in order. Good for you man.....

    REDNECKS

I like some of her songs, but when I think of her chewing tobacco, I instantly lose any attraction I had for her..... Maybe it's just a turn-off??? =========Shaun ==========
  25. I swear I can tell the tasty ones from the bad ones.... =========Shaun ==========
