  1. Don't do it man! It's a trick! Don't go in there!
  2. Then to compare apples to apples, you actually pay $20 plus +/- $120 for jumps, so the cost of the comp is more like $140. Not too far off from that $165.
  3. My entire 4way team pays $80 for a daylong meet, including coaching. How many jumps does your team get in that day?
  4. Wow! I can handle the pie in the face and whatever else, but forcing someone to drink a Heineken is just plain wrong! Congrats!
  5. Well, I think the fact that there is no other way, is the problem. I agree with what you are saying. But with some people wanting to turn pro, some not, some competing for money, some not, it is creating a bit of a log jam. Yes, a little tweaking is probably what is needed.
  6. Huh?? I never said anything about not liking the CPC. I just offered some thoughts about the current system. I suppose you could keep the top 10 requirement at Nationals the same, but I wasn't saying anyone would get to "go to the front of the line." Everyone would have to EARN their right to qualify through a point system.
  7. Hey Mark, when you say "peeps," are you talking about those little marshmallow chick things?
  8. Good lookin kids there! Keep your daughter away from the dz!
  9. Hey i'm no fool. Why do you think i keep her around?? I get to jump with all kinds of cool people because of her. It's a win-win for all of us!
  10. Well then, I would say he definitely DID get something out of it then! He's a perv just like me! Why do you think I went on those jumps with you in PA?
  11. I see that next week they are going to air some tandem footage. Be cool to see! I love roller derby chicks! A friend of mine does it in Wisconsin and she totally kicks ass!
  12. I'm going to go ahead and jump in here, just because Ian has, without a doubt, been the most helpful and instructive person at Skydive Atlanta for a long time with regard to swooping. He's given tons of his time to me and other jumpers, teaching the basics and advanced aspects of swooping. To imply that he is not helpful to newbies is absurd. Brie Ah, what the heck do YOU know?! Ian is a big meanie name caller who does nothing but grandstand and make himself unapproachable! We ALL know THAT! Seriously... I absolutely concur with your view of Ian. But you like ME better, right?
  13. I have posted these in other threads, but it's cool that I am now able to post in this thread!
  14. Dude, don't get too happy. I still think you have a piss poor attitude and set a terrible example for new pilots with that attitude. Ok, so you are following the rules and there IS a problem with the system, but that doesn't make it ok to blatantly take advantage of it for a personal agenda. I mean, you said this: ""but im no longer going to be in the cpc. i would be sandbagging the comp." and now you are saying something completely different. I think it's a case of finding out that it is "cooler" and alot easier to win money when you are the big fish in a smaller pond, rather than a smaller fish in a big one. I think you might be misunderstanding my points. By me saying that the problem is the system and not the people taking advantage of it, I am just trying to point out that there needs to be some major changes in that system. But setting up a system and then telling people they have to do things "because it's the right thing to do" even though they are completely following the rules of that very system, just is not going to work. Hence this thread. There needs to be a way for up and coming pilots to get a chance to pro qualify without placing in the top 5 and top 10, IF you are going to continue to run the CPC where there is prize money on the line and there is nothing in the rules to prohibit amatuers to collect it.
  15. But it is actually not the guys who aren't "getting off the pot" that are the problem. They would actually be doing exactly what the rules state is acceptable to do. Ethical? Well you can talk til you are blue in the face to some guys and THAT won't get through. Bottom line is, that's the way the system is set up. The problem is the SYSTEM. The CPC is trying to be too much. They are trying to introduce new swoopers into competition, be a highly competitive circuit, offer prize money, and be the only direct way to go pro, all at the same time. That is just not going to work well from year to year, as is now being seen.
  16. I just think, pound for pound, Matt is the better fighter. Maybe not the most skilled in techniques, but then again, the only technique that matter is beating your opponent, and Matt is the better fighter in that sense. IMO
  17. Well, I can see the points from both sides and I agree there needs to be a way for new pilots to get there pro qualifier without having to continuously try to beat guys who have already done so but don't care to go pro. That said, I also agree that the CPC is a competitive circuit and should not have the sole purpose of being a stepping stone to go pro. I think your point would be better received if you lose the "Fuck you, those are the rules and if you don't like it, tough shit" attitude and try harder to be a productive part of the solution, which would benefit canopy piloting as a whole.
  18. The problem is the current system of placing in events to turn Pro. The CPC is a competitive canopy piloting circuit, and if the same guys want to come back and kick ass, then they should be able to. That IS what competiton is about. No one should be "forced" to turn pro. However, I guess I don't see why you couldn't have seperate classes among those placings. Those who have already earned their quailying spot and those who have not. Call them guests, call the whatever, I don't think it would take much more than an asterix by their name. This would allow the top 5 without the asterix to still qualify themselves. Once you have earned the right to pro qualify, you should be able to do what you want with it. Not everyone competeing in the CPC has an ultimate goal of going pro. If they don't want to turn pro, then they should still be allowed to compete in the CPC for whatever personal goals they have. I still think a points system would work best where you would earn points by competeing towards getting an invitation to the pro qualifier.
  19. Oh yeah, I totally copy and pasted that! I mean, I know who he is and I am a fan, but I am not THAT big of a fan!
  20. But it is such an easy name to get right! R.I.P. Iz
