  1. Not very much, but "I love you" does apply to more than just her. Just not in the same way.
  2. I love you. Hope you have a great rest of your day!** ** - Applies only to the persons it applies to.
  3. What the heck thread am I IN????
  4. Right on! Well put. It's all about having faith. faith [ fayth ] noun Definitions: 1. belief or trust: belief in, devotion to, or trust in somebody or something, especially without logical proof.
  5. My point is really being missed here. Guess I should have worded it better. My point is, if you go into running thinking how bad it is going to suck and how much you hate it, you will have no chance of making it halfway enjoyable. No, I doubt you are ever going to find pulling teeth as enjoyable, and I think that is a little bit of a stretch for analogy, but you can have two attitudes about it. You can dread it and worry about it and work yourself up about how much it is going to suck, or you can go in thinking it is going to be good for you and it is only a very small part of your day to get through to make yourself feel better and go in with a completely different attitude to make getting your teeth pulled not such a dramatic event. Having the right attitude will help ANY situation. Even getting teeth pulled. I know that not everyone enjoys running. I am just saying you can help your cause by trying to have a different approach to it mentally. That's all.
  6. I run on my treadmill in the winter, and it is definitely not as much fun, but I have a TV in front of it and that makes it pretty decent. I agree though, running outside is WAY better!
  7. Oh, I see. My point was it helps to have the right attitude. No, I don't like shopping, but I can certainly help my cause with having a good attitude about it.
  8. Totally agree. I look forward t my runs very much as a time to be "alone" and think and feel good. I am almost never bored. It all comes down to attitude. If you look at running as exercise that you HAVE to do, rather than an activity that is enjoyable for many reasons other than just exersice, then it is very easy to become bored with it.
  9. That is what I mean by "not much." A minimum for increasing cardio health should be 20 minutes/3 days a week. And THAT really isn't much, but is certainly good.
  10. is 60bpm bad resting heart rate? No, that is not too bad. It is pretty average for people who don't smoke and are not too overweight, but probably don't do much cardio exercise.
  11. To be honest with you Bagels are not good for you. They are the equivalent of eating like 5 slices of bread. A peice of a Toast and an Egg would be much much better. Also...if you are not active and don't workout why would you want a Carb heavy diet? Dude, you should really think before you post. I was headed out to run a 15k race, so a bagel is perfect for carbs and energy. Plus, there is ALOT more to whether something is good for you other than carbs. And duh, about the "carb heavy diet" thing. My point is you should be more concerned about exercising rather than carbs. Like I said, it's not rocket science. If you exercise and watch what you eat, it is really not that difficult. The point about my friends: They are overweight and in poor shape, but don't exercise or eat carbs. I am not overweight and am in good shape, but I eat plenty of carbs and exercise. You tell ME which one works.
  12. I like to consider myself to be a "nice guy." And unless you consider having a beautiful wife, beautiful baby boy, good job, a house, and more blessings than I deserve, finishing last... then I would answer, no, nice guys do not finish last.
  13. I hear ya! I stayed with a married couple, who are good friends of mine, one time the night before a 15k I was running in. They are both overweight and don't exercise. I got up the morning of raceday, and they asked me what I wanted to eat before we headed out. I said either a small bowl of cereal or a bagel would be great. Their reply? "Oh, we don't have cereal or bagels in the house because it isn't healthy to eat things like that loaded with carbs."
  14. Actually, I believe you are totally wrong. I HAVE talked to him, and he really does think drinking a protein drink will somehow make him healthy. If someone will take the time to drink a protein supplement, yet smoke a pack a day and do nothing for exercise, then I am sorry, they ARE ignorant.
  15. He can out-swoop me by a long shot, so it is just my obligation to make fun of him whenever humanly possible!
  16. I work with a guy who is probably a good 30 pounds overweight, doesn't do jack-squat for exercise, eats garbage for lunch, and smokes about a pack a day. He is constantly coughing and you can hear the wheezing in his breath all the time. If he does something as little as walk up the stairs, he gets red in the face and out of breath. I come in to the office yesterday, and he is drinking a protein supplement drink! And to top it off, he starts telling me why I should be drinking them too to be healthy. Now, I am not overweight, I am a runner, I lift weights to keep muscle-tone, my cholesterol is good, my blood pressure is good, my resting heart rate is about 48 bpm, I don't smoke, and I am pretty good about watching what I eat. Yet this guy is telling ME how to be healthy??? Seriously folks, it's not rocket science!
  17. I raise my glass tonight to your father and pass along my sincere condolences to you and your family. Beautiful post, Liz. I am sure he is smiling down on you tonight.
  18. Just wrong, dude. Just plain wrong.
