    Don't think they "screwed up." I just didn't think it was THAT good of a movie. Certainly not the way it was hyped and nominated. This will be my last post to this thread. Apparently this was turned into a debate about something other than whether it was a an Oscar worth film, and I don't feel like getting involved in a SC debate. Thanks for the discussion up til then.

    Went through in '92. It was pretty much a joke. Alot of fun, but a joke as far as military schools go. I had to do my own runs and PT at night to stay in shape.

    Ok, that is one film. Your point? I don't think one film makes a great argument that the Academy views horror films with the same respect.

    I have seen numerous shots by other cameraflyers that would have made a better cover. Some of which were so much more colorful and better angles that it is hard to believe it was from the same jump. And how many times do I have to state that I AGREE it has huge historical significance and that I am in NO WAY arguing that the accomplishment is anything less than amazing?! My only point is that it is a drab, cluttered picture that makes a terrible looking magazine cover. I can't be anymore clear on what I am saying.

    Yes, I am not saying that the 400 way doesn't deserve the cover or that it should be something other than RW. This has nothing to do with WHAT the picture is, only that it is a drab, ugly cover for a magazine.

    Oh for sure, none of these would be MY nominees. But the big names are always the shoe-ins. Some of the best films I have seen are considered horror. But if you make a horror film, you might as well be making porn, in the eyes of the Academy.

    Out of the actual nominees, I am ok with all the winners except I would give Best Picture to Capote.
