I jumped a Sabre2 for about 200 jumps and found that a 180 hard carving front riser turn worked best. Not quite a full-on hook turn, but pretty aggressive. This allowed me to hold it in the dive longest and transfer right to rear risers. It was pretty respectable swooping with that technique. Otherwise, like you said, it recovered way too fast.

Yeah, I am with ya on that! I don't really care for sub-terminal openings on my Velocity either. So on swoop loads I like to take a delay. I like atleast 3,500ft.
-
Nope. Scared of the ground approaching at a high rate of speed! The ride under the Velocity up til that point would probably be quite fun!

4.5 3.5 2 I prefer my 'hard deck' at 2,000 just because I always pull around 3,000 and if that baby goes off at 2,000 I want to make a decision now. Plus I am jumping a Velocity and it will probably be losing altitude extremely fast by that point if I get to 2,000 and haven't gotten rid of it.

Your nicest aircraft to (solo) exit from?

I would rather jump from a 182 that you were flying than a CASA with someone else flying, if it meant we got to hang out! -
Hey! I drove all the way to work this morning and didn't hit anything!

How 'bout a classic water cooler shot?!

Oh, I know! We all have it sooo bad here in the free world!

Well of course I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE SITE!!!!! And I love the Mafia girls!!!!! But I think there should be mention on the site of how much the Mafia girls love the Badfish boys!!!

nope- 3/75th Ranger Batt. 1994 Sure, I was a little weighted down with gear and it was static line, but still pretty damn cool! I had 17 military jumps total all from C130 or 141 except the one Blackhawk. But I have countless fast ropes from that bird. (not as much fun!) -

I don't think so- If the Velocity holds it's own in all the competitions and Heath Richardson just took the World's, then what's your point? The Velocity is as good a canopy as any out there. And isn't that what we are talking about? Who cares if it is 21 cell, 27 cell, or 53 cell for that matter. It is how the canopy performs, plain and simple! PD designed the Velocity as a 21 cell and it can win any given competition. Not always, but it can. Icarus improved on the FX by making the VX and one of their changes was making it 27 cell. But it still doesn't out perform the Velocity just because it has more cells. They both have different characteristics, and one may do something better than the other, but one thing is fr sure- The Velocity is a world class canopy, regardless of the number of cells.

Being the gentleman that I am, I will happily oblige! PLEASE, feel free to take full advantage!

Well, All I can say is- The Velocity kicks ass! I think if you want to compare the Velocity to something it would be the VX. If you look at all the top canopy piloting competitions, you will see pretty equal standings with the Velocity and the VX. But you won't see an FX. Yes the FX does compare in many aspects to the Velocity, but I also think the Velocity has the potential to go much further for performance. But that is what is great about the Velocity. You can fly it very conservatively if you have to and as Heath Richardson has proved, it can also out class any on the market. Don't get me wrong- I am not saying you should buy a Velocity if you are planning to be conservative- but you can fly it that way if you have to.

I'm trying, I'm trying!! Sorting this airlinr crap out is turning out to be harder than I thought! But don't you worry your pretty little head! And I am with Ian- Use me baby! Use me!
-
Why in the world would that be tacky????

I think it is great that she is willing to play and you are too! I certainly have no reason to doubt you. But the Parachutist in a pic with her is certainly a good way to shut up the non-believers!
-
Congrats!! It only gets better from here!
-
All I have to say is you better be ready for this! If you don't intend to fly aggressively, hook, dive, and swoop- DO NOT BOTHER! This baby was designed to go big or go home! The dive after a hard front riser hook is better than anything I have experienced! Hear the speed as you scream towards the ground! Levels out nicely with rear riser input to a sweet, long surf! This is one awesome canopy!!!!

Nah- I don't want to make money off it. I am just a gentleman and am trying to help out. Cause that's the kind of guy I am!

Ok, here's what you do- Draw a skydiver on your chest with magic marker. Put a tight white Tshirt on over top. Hop in a cold shower and drench the shirt. The marker will bleed thru leaving a cool abstract design on the shirt. Send me a couple pictures and I will tell you how to improve the design. Glad I could help!

articulation effecting carving/harness turning
ccowden replied to andy2's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Maybe- but I have never had a problem doing harness turns to the degree I wanted with the rings, so I don't think I would give them up to see. -
