I enjoy swooping and canopy flight as much as I enjoy freeflying. If swooping was banned at my DZ, I would definitely jump less there. Much less.

I guess I am just not following you. I thought my last post was an obvious attempt to see eye to eye. The jerk comment was probably uncalled for and now, I actually wish I had never posted here at all. It was a knee-jerk reaction to something and I regret it. I am sorry. But I am not sure why you continue to be sarcastic or what your comments about being on a "team" are all about. Guess I just don't follow you and what you want out of this. I apologize if I have misunderstood anything.

I would say you need to know his definition of a hook turn. If he is banning ALL high performance, front riser landings, then that is certainly an issue. I would just talk to him and see where he is coming from and what exactly he is banning. Skydiving is dangerous. Jumping out of airplanes kills skydivers. I agree that radical hookturns that are done recklessly should not be tolerated, but banning all types of riser turns is not the answer. There are alot of people that would say jumping out of planes is stupid and an unecessary risk. Why is one risk ok, and another not? Education and understanding is the answer. Not banning. But he is the DZO, so if you don't agree with how he wants to run his DZ, I guess you have to go elsewhere. Either that, or follow his rules. But my advice is to talk to him.

I don't think there is any right or wrong here. And I certainly don't have any problem with you or feel like we need to resolve anything. No worries with me! I just felt as though you were being a bit unfair to some people when they were just adding their opinion or knowledge. I understand you weren't asking about the dangers of not wearing a helmet, but I think they are good reasons to consider if you want to know about not wearing one. So, to answer your question- I made about 100 jumps without a helmet back when I had about 100-200 jumps. Didn't do anything for me and I started wearing a helmet again when I had a couple 'bumps'. As far as solos, I now wear a helmet on every jump because I want to have head protection if I land hard. Either because of a landing mistake or under a entanglement or something. So it wouldn't matter if it was solo or not. But then again, I won't ride a bicycle without a helmet either. So, what to expect? I guess it will feel like it does when you stick your head out the car window. Precautions? Make sure your goggles are on tighter than normal. A helmet helps hold them down. Hope that helps!

Well, I think you are being a jerk. You started this thread asking for advice and comments. As soon as someone does that, you just fire back some smart-ass comment. You have already made up your mind that you will jump without a helmet and obviously have formed your opinions. I thought her comment was totallt relevant and your reply was totally uncalled for.

Although you can get your canopy to turn using front risers, a Falcon 175 loaded at 1:1 will not dive much at all. If you are just experimenting with front risers to learn the aspects of your canopy, then just continue to play with them up high and see what they do with more input. But if you are expecting to be able to get alot of performance out of it such as dives, then you are simply expecting too much from it. Plus I think you would be a little ahead of yourself to even be attempting anything like that if your profile is correct. At your level, Learning to STEER with risers is great. But trying to do high performance maneuvers, may be a bit much. Talk to someone at your DZ who knows your experience level who can tell you what you should be working on.

I had a Sabre2 120 loaded at about 1.7 and I absolutely loved everything about it! Performed amazingly! I'm not saying you should run right out and downsize, but I think the Sabre2 gets better as it is loaded.
