  4. 1. when i was 3, i broke my femur, your thigh bone, which is the hardest bone to break in your body, requiring 2000 lbs/sq in as an adult to break. i fell down ONE step, running away from my mom. it was halloween, and i was being crabby about being all "itchy" from the hay my mom was putting in my little scarecrow costume. i was put in traction with pins in my leg as it was a "spiral" break but one night, 3 weeks into my hospital stay, the nurses forgot to put the bedrail up and i rolled out of bed, hanging by the pins in my busted leg. even though that was 26 years ago, i still remember seeing the nurse running in to get me up. i was in the hospital for 6 weeks total for that. 2. five years ago, i walked around on a broken shin for a month wondering why the hell my leg hurt so bad. guess prior experience gave me a tolerance for leg pain -or i am dumb, stubborn guy...

  10. Hey Shari, Happy 11th-Anniversary of your 29th Birthday!!
  11. When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were when they were growing up; what with walking twenty-five miles to school every morning uphill both ways through year 'round blizzards carrying their younger siblings on their backs to their one-room schoolhouse where they maintained a straight-A average despite their full-time after-school job at the local textile mill where they worked for 35 cents an hour just to help keep their family from starving to death! And I remember promising myself that when I grew up there was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it! But....Now that I've reached the ripe old age of 29, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today. You've got it so f***in' easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia! And I hate to say it but you kids today you don't know how good you've got it! I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have "The Internet" - if we wanted to know something, we had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves! And there was no "email"! We had to actually write somebody a letter - with a pen! And then you had to walk it all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox and it would take like a week to get there! And there were no "MP3s" or "Napster"! If you wanted to steal music, you had to go to the damn record store and shoplift it yourself! Or we had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJs would talk over the beginning and screw it all up! You want to hear about hardship? You couldn't just "download" porn. You had to bribe some homeless dude to buy you a copy of "Hustler" at the 7-11, or look at the lingerie section of the JC Penney catalog! Those were your options! And we didn't have fancy stuff like "Call Waiting"! If you were on the phone and somebody else called, they got a busy signal! And we didn't have fancy Caller ID Boxes either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was. It could be your boss, your mom, a collections agent, your drug dealer - you didn't know! You just had to pick it up and take your chances mister! And we didn't have any fancy "Sony Playstation" videogames with high resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600, with games like "Space Invaders" and "Asteroids" - and the graphics sucked! Your guy was a little square! You had to use your imagination! And there were no multiple "levels" or screens, it was just one screen forever! And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and faster until you died! Just like LIFE! When you went to the movie theater there no such thing as stadium seating! All the seats were the same height! If a tall guy sat in front of you, you were screwed! And sure, we had cable television, but back then that was only like 20 channels and there was no onscreen menu! You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! And there was no Cartoon Network! You could only get cartoons on Saturday morning...D'ya hear what I'm saying!?! We had to wait ALL WEEK, you spoiled little brats! That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy! You're spoiled! You guys wouldn't last five minutes back in 1984!
  12. Excellent... welcome to the obsession!
  13. CONGRAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTSSSS!!!!
  14. I started college in '92 at Drexel U. in Philly, PA. It was a "co-op education" school, where you go for 5 years, and the middle 3 years are 6 months in class, and 6 months working with a company related to your major. During my 3rd year there (my 2nd work cycle), I was offered an actual full-time position with that company and I took it for financial reasons. For 5 years, I got to travel the US, and have seen maybe 30 different states and numerous major cities on their nickel. Now, settled in Pittsburgh due to my job, I am finishing my bio degree at University of Pittsburgh with a year or so to go. I have my company to thank - now working there 10 years this month - for much of my life experiences, best friends, personal growth, and most importantly, the income to skydive! What's next? A career in health care...
  15. I am sorry for your loss. While not a source of solice now, he will always live on with you in your heart
  16. Gotcha, but what MULTIPLICATION factor are you using?
  17. Yes, and thank you to all. You have been an excellent source of knowledge and camaraderie. The knowledge I have gained as a newbie may also save my life someday. That is a debt I can only attempt to repay with my attitude and interactions with those coming up after me in our lifestyle. ...Blues!....
  18. You keep a RULER on you all the time? Wow, thats odd
