  1. Homosexuality is forbidden in both the Old & New Testaments. Try Romans & Corinthians. Homosexuality Also, here's my explanation of the differences in Old & New Testament law....AGAIN: The commands of the Old Testament are divided generally into moral law, ceremonial law and civil law. The moral law (e.g., the 10 commandments) remain in effect and few people would question that. The ceremonial law (sacrificing 2 oxen, eating shellfish, etc.) was fulfilled in Jesus' sacrificial death and the New Testament teaches that it is not binding anymore. The civil law (stoning for adultry, etc.) was the law of the nation of Israel, which operated as a Theocracy, and is not the civil law of any other nation.
  2. That's just my interpretation of it. When one becomes a Christian, he/she is considered "married" to the body of Christ (the Church). Catholics, IMO, just take that concept to the extreme. Again, just telling you what I think. A Catholic would be better suited to explain their specific doctrine in detail.
  3. Now that is what my boss would call a "dump and run"...... Why?.... Because I'm not Catholic? We don't have Nuns and Priests and I'm not familiar with the rules pertaining to each.
  4. This falls in with my belief: ***Some people believe that all who commit suicide go immediately to Hell. However, the Bible never says if this is the case. The Bible is silent on this issue. God probably did not address it in black in white for a good reason. If we knew that we would still go to Heaven if we killed ourselves, there would probably be a lot more suicides taking place than there already are. However, if we knew that all who killed themselves were automatically banished to Hell, no matter what their situation, it may be too much for the grief-stricken family and friends to bear. Murder and suicide are not unpardonable sins. The only unforgivable sins are rejecting Christ (Mark 16:16) and blaspheming the Holy Spirit. Suicide
  5. So, the RC can have their own little different version of marriage. However, gays cannot have their own little different version of marriage? So, if God transcends gender, then why is it only nuns get married to the heavenly Spouse? Why don't priests marry the same entity? I'm not a Catholic. Better to ask one on the specifics of Catholic doctrine.
  6. That's funny. Can't argue with that one.
  7. God transcends gender. He is neither, however, he chose to reveal himself in the person of Jesus as a man. He is always referred to as "the Father." Also, being "married" in the sense that you and I are familiar is different from being married to "the body of Christ" which is the church.
  8. That's very funny. However, it's a serious matter to a great many people who put their lives in danger every day to secure your freedom which that piece of cloth represents. To many of them, it's a slap in the face to degrade a symbol which means a great deal to them. I see it more like this. You should have the right to burn the flag but you should have the intelligence, discipline, and common decency not to exercise that right. It's just something one shouldn't do. IMO
  9. Ever personally see somebody dead or mutilated from fightng to protect that symbol of freedom which represents our ideals and way of life here in America?
  10. Not what I was trying to say. Just saying we can all do our part.
  11. If there were uniformed positions that could put a skill set like Bill's to *as effective use* as he could doing what he's done in the private sector for DOD, then I'm right there with you. For physicians, that's a no-brainer. For other professions, however, there's a distinct, unquestionable loss of efficacy in making a high-value individual an 11-bang-bang. True. I just see a whole lot of whiners and bullshitters out there on a regular basis. Bill's obviously not one of them and I should have picked another to respond to. Not really directed at him. Besides, I wouldn't make them all 11B. I was an 18C.
  12. I thought we were talking about flags...interestingly enough, looks like you are quite willing to post about other things in this particular thread.... Other than maybe a question that confuses you a bit too much? You're right man. Maybe I'm just confused.
  13. And I chose to introduce anotehr very important symbol....I'll just chalk this one up to "unwilling to answer". Stay focused man.... You can do it.
  14. As in skydiving, there are multitudes of coulda, shoulda, woulda types. Others step up to the plate and do their duty. Talk is cheap and professionals who make a bunch of money are not exempt. I'm friends with several physicians who, in their careers following medical school, volunteered their service in the military first before going into private practice.
  15. Huge batytles have been fought to preserve capitalism by the US and teh west as a whole. Money is probably the biggest representation of capitalism and the US lifestyle. Do you get upset when some one burns a $1 bill? I think we're talking about the flag here.
  16. That's the sort of statement I'd expect from someone who's never made personal sacrifice in it's defense. It's more than "just a bit of cloth." It "represents" MUCH more than that.
  17. How dare you not give proper respect to the Duke!
  18. The toughest team (currently) in the SEC has the colors orange & blue but it's not Florida. [BLUE]A[/BLUE][ORANGE]U[/ORANGE][BLUE]B[/BLUE][ORANGE]U[/ORANGE][BLUE]R[/BLUE][ORANGE]N[/ORANGE] [BLUE]T[/BLUE][ORANGE]I[/ORANGE][BLUE]G[/BLUE][ORANGE]E[/ORANGE][BLUE]R[/BLUE][ORANGE]S[/ORANGE][BLUE]![/BLUE]
  19. He could hang out with Bill Clinton and do speeches around the country.
  20. My reason for not finding any humor in your tasteless comment is due to the fact that I have close friends serving as contractors. I've personally served with these people some of whom have been shot, lost appendages, and been killed. It's not a laughing matter. Especially from someone who's probably not been in those situations.
  21. That's the kind of offensive statement that would get you put in a hospital where I'm from.
  22. Factually incorrect ads should not be aired when it's concerning a person. There's a difference between advertising for a product and exaggerating what it can do versus facilitating the propagation of false information which might damage one's character in the public's eyes. The network is as guilty as the person or organization who wrote it. Networks are or at least should be responsible.
