Are you pro-life and support oral contraceptives?
pajarito replied to Vallerina's topic in Speakers Corner
It's a stretch to try and compare war with abortion. In war, we're not targeting children. It's just a horrible consequence of war. In abortion, you are definitely targeting an innocent, defenseless, helpless, human, child. -

Not just “very hard”……it’s not possible. We are NOT erring on the side of caution as (I believe) lawrocket stated. Exactly…so who are we to judge whether they are allowed to live a life or not? What standards do we put on handicaps to decide who lives and who dies (I should say, gets killed)? -
Good to hear. Take care. Jay

Suppose Abortion becomes illegal..what then?
pajarito replied to Bodyflight.Net's topic in Speakers Corner
Ok...ok...point taken. I stand corrected. I tried to steer around a personal attack but I guess it wasn't good enough. Lo siento mucho! -
I think, in the interest of the society that we have to live and operate in, that people who commit crimes of the level that we now consider worthy of the penalty of death should, in fact, be put to death. They serve no benefit to society whatsoever and are, what we then have to consider, a permanent threat to the safety of others. Rehabilitation is, at that point, not considered possible. I think that if they commit a crime of such an attrocious and violent nature as to deny another person of their life, that they should be eliminated or removed from society as a whole (taken out of the equation).

It's got to be that way, IMO. I seriously doubt that would happen also, though.

No personal attack intended. None now exists in your post. Again, go after what they say, not who you think they are. -
skyyhi & bsoder EXCELLENT!!!

Didn't say I wanted to watch him executed. What if one of the many women that he raped, tortured, and killed was your daughter?
-
Of course, I’m not talking about having kids around after dark or at parties. I’m also not talking about infants but that doesn’t bother me either. As for people watching them, I was watched and taken care of by most of the people there. Today, if someone else’s kid walks up to me while I’m packing or walking off the DZ, I answer their questions and might even try and teach them something. The kids are our future skydivers. I might tell them to watch stepping over the lines or to take their coke can a good distance away from my parachute. But that’s not a big deal. ]

I've only been out West twice. Once to Yuma, AZ and once to Portland, OR. Beutiful out there! I just wish some of it would crack off and sink in the ocean. -
I don't know if I ever want my kids to touch my rig, ever...you never know what you did to piss them off that they are hiding from you, just to take their revenge elsewhere without you knowing....that would be scarey....lol...no really I wouldn't want my kids packing unless they truelly wanted to learn, then I would teach them, and yeah that is a great job for those that are not old enough to jump, but are responsiable enough to do so...I know a few teenagers that are packers. I know of a jumper that started packing and saved that money to learn to skydive later on. 11 though is too young to pack. My interest grew because I was emersed in it. It was expected that, if I was going to hang around the DZ, I was going to learn everything about it. I think my interest was far greater and long-lasting because I wasn't kept behind the yellow line. I could pack well before I could jump. Just an idea. By the way, that doesn't just apply to skydiving.

I agree. It would be nice to have him executed. I should have emphasized, though, the “To treat him” in the sentence, “To treat him and execute like he did thousands of his people.” I was trying to say that execution would be too easy. He’s done far worse to lots of his own people.

That sounded awfully conservative. I like it. You sure you want your friends to hear you talking like that since you're so close to California? -
As with anything in life, how the hell do you learn anything from "behind the yellow line." If your son is 11, he should be well on his way to being proficient at packing your parachute for you. You've got to get your kids involved. I want mine to be an athelete....not an athletic supporter.

I think there should be warning labels on women's panties. It should be obvious that you're getting yourself into trouble when dealing with them but, you know,....it took me a long time to figure it out. -

The issue is with killing a human life after it has been formed (i.e. abortion). Not preventing one of my multi-million sperms from swimming laps. -

Darius...I respect your opinions...but how do you know that? Is that just a guess on your part or is it a religious thing? Not being sarcastic at all. I'm just curious. -

Again, let me clarify by saying, IF taken properly. -

Lindsey...come on now...I know you're the Med student. My wife (OB/GYN Physician) even asked her partner (who's been in practice for probably 15 years) about what we've been talking about. He even said that prevention of pregnancy with OC's resulting in the inability of the embryo to implant isn't all that common. It's way down the list. Some modes of action but not limited to. There are more. 1. Primary: Prevent ovulation. 2. Thicken cervical mucus limiting sperm mobility. 3. Inhibit capacitation (changes sperm goes through in order to be capable of penetrating the egg with the release of enzymes) and sperm survivability. 4. Alters mobility through the tube thus imparing transport of both ova and sperm. 5. Preventing implantation by causing changes in the endometrial lining. In addition, some women even when using OC’s properly, will get pregnant and carry the baby to term. Freeflygoddess apparently hasn’t read the whole discussion concerning the topic in both threads. The whole condom thing is ridiculous in the context of what we’re talking about. -
So be it. Who gives a shit? That would be nice but would probably be against their law.

He should be handed over to the legitimate government once it is official, in place, and becomes stable and effective. Until then, he should be held by the US.

I think the freed Iraqi majority who are in favor of the new democracy and had to suffer under Saddam's brutal dictatorship have the biggest stake in the game. Once they have the structure in place, I think he should be tried under Iraq's jurisdiction. I can think of nothing better than for the Iraqis to be able to exact justice on the person who formerly terrorized them.
