  1. There used to be a link to this on youtube, but I have since lost it. Can anyone point me to this carnage reel? I am sure I am just not searching the right keywords.
  2. Just what speed does a small bike like that need to be traveling at to damn near knock an SUV over? It looked like a full car t-boned that truck....
  3. Al from PD runs the Florida/SE league. www.cpafl.org We just finished up the comps for the season, but it runs Jan-June over 5 comps. The NorCal group is putting together some comps now on the West Coast. Nationals is coming up in Sept.
  4. I have had a guy walk in with a hangman's fx. Fell off a ladder. Walked in cause his neck hurt. The poor xray tech was white as a ghost when we got to the room she was screaming at us from He did have to get surgery though. I wish I still had that picture...
  5. Let's say you have a compression fracture. Let's say you have a really hard opening the loads your spine (more than any regular opening we experience). Let's say it does permanent damage. Let's say you crash again cause, well, you're a student, and it's likely. Let's say you dislodge said fractured vertebra into the spinal cord, and now you're paralyzed. Let's say....aw fuck it, you should get the point by now. It just ain't worth jumping injured until you get an evaluation.

  7. Glad you made it out! Hope you had a good time.
  8. edit - closer than I would have liked to have been. Sorry for the confusion.
  9. Good to see you back from rehab "insert TI name here"
  10. How dare you not know what the spot is once you got out and damn you to hell for jumping in clouds and how dare you actually have the capacity to think through a situation and .... nah, you are ok. Good job. Thought processes in hindsight are usually funny things.
  11. We have a lot of kids at our DZ. They're really not a problem.
  12. The website....yeah. It's currently being re-designed to actually look like a real webpage. Overall good vibe (been there for 9 years) with a good mix of FF and belly jumpers. Open groups, and most people will jump with anyone (so long as you don't prove yourself a complete retard). Upcoming wingsuit crowd. Otter turns all day on weekends, as well as a good number of jumpers coming out wed and fridays. Main landing area is fairly large with pea gravel pit. Sometimes a manicured soccer/football field to land on when not being used by youth rec league sports teams (not a stadium), and a separated staff/HP landing zone. Come on out, we'll show you around. ETA: Good night scene - social after jumping hours.
  13. You can learn to outfly the little ones and make them look silly for thinking that you are gonna go low. Us bigger fuckers are well suited for swooping down the road, as we can have higher wingloadings on bigger wings. Initially that is a big of a pain in the ass as you will still load larger wings at a fairly significant loading. -- Downside, we have to buy different canopies to change loading, instead of just changing weight belts. 6' - 225, 245-250 with gear, depending on cameras.
  14. Just because you could hear me before you could see me.....shouldn't be scary. Sounds like how I get most of my dates...
  15. Depends. With all the RDS bells and whsitles I do it in about 12 minutes. With everything normal about 8. If I am in a rush, I can do it in 5-6, but that is a shake, put it on the floor, cock it, locking stows and the coil of death. - Velo 103 -Opens fine. I pack like old people fuck. Slow and not very well.
  16. I'm still with sinjin. The student died because he didn't pull his reserve. It sickens me that this is about the money, but it is how we live these days. Someone fucks up, everyone else must be responsible.
  17. Also, Daizey is rather short. I have another friends that is 4"11 I believe. She can stand in the Otter. I can give you her name as well if you have specific questions.
  18. AADs are required for students by USPA. There's really no way around this, a safety device that would have likelymay have saved this jumper was defeated by the negligence of the rigger/owner of the dropzone. Still doesn't mean that he caused his death, nor should he be liable for it.
  19. No, the main person who was negligent was the student that didn't pull. Not routing the loop properly didn't kill anyone. It may have prevented the Cypres from being able to have the chance to deploy the reserve, but it didn't kill anyone. Had the rigger misrigged it in a way that pulling the reserve handle caused a reserve total, then I could see you having a case. I do not have a manual in front of me, but have been corrected when I was newbie that a Cypres does not DEPLOY the reserve, it activates a cutter to cut the loop. I'm sure I will be corrected if I am wrong/ You are correct - I worded it poorly. The Cypres suts the loop to give the reserve a chance to deploy -- I will edit my original.
