Hi all, Just a reminder that tomorrow evening is the monthly London Skydivers drinks night. We'll have a reserved area in the Montagu Pyke (well done Nigel) from about 6pm. The Montagu Pyke for any new people coming is on Charing Cross Road between Leicester Square tube and Tottenham Court tube. I hope to see lots of you there, blue skies Caz ~~~ London Skydivers ~~~

If you're coming to Europe and you're bringing your rig, Empuriabrava in Spain is a must visit, the biggest dropzone in Europe and arguably one of the most scenic dropzones in the world. What time of year are you thinking of travelling as well? ~~~ London Skydivers ~~~

The UK Freefly 'It's a London Thing' Boogie 2005
caz replied to nigelh's topic in Events & Places to Jump
just one thing to note, in the UK there are usually jump limits (for instance B licence requirement) to jump things like balloons and sometimes helicopters, so best to check that out too. Wish I could be going, but never mind, maybe next year! ~~~ London Skydivers ~~~ -
I wish the price of gas in the US would DOUBLE overnight
caz replied to Newbie's topic in Speakers Corner
I really do think its quite amusing how none of the Americans replying on here appear to be getting the point of Newbie's thread at all. He seems to be simply amused at the HUGE fuss you guys are all making about a price increase of your fuel, when it is still a huge amount cheaper than over here. If the price of fuel in the UK was $4 or $5 a gallon we would all most likely be out rejoycing in the streets!! Forgive me Newbie if this isn't the point you were trying to make -
I'm sure if asked a few of the usual suspects would be more than willing to partake is an extracurricular or 2! ~~~ London Skydivers ~~~

The MP is all booked now, we gave everyone the chance to have their say for a couple of weeks, and it was decided by the majority to go back to the MP rather than the Curzon. For what its worth, I sat on the fence in the vote and voted for 'c - I don't care I just want beer' or whatever the wording of the third option was, as I've had a great time in both venues and didn't really want to swing it either way as I thought each had their pros and cons. So see you guys at the MP on Thursday. Nigel, have you decided what time you're going to be down there from yet? I only have half a day on Friday now (as I have to move this weekend) so yay bring on the !!

Hi guys, a reminder that this months drinks session is in the Montagu Pyke on Charing Cross Road from about 6pm on Thursday 25th August (p.s. its also Nigels birthday too). and thanks for the birthday wishes in this and the other thread
-
cheers all you guys!! having a fabulous birthday out in Empuria and just got my 200th and therefore my C!! see most of you next Thursday

Hi all, The next London Skydivers drinks evening will be on the 25th August back in the Montagu Pyke. Thanks very much to Alex for letting us have the previous one in the Curzon, but after a vote, people have decided to back to the MP. So from about 6pm as usual we will be found in a reserved area in the Montagu Pyke on Charing Cross Road nearest tubes Leicester Square or Tottenham Court Road, and we will have a reserved section in the bar (well done Nigel for organising), if we're not easy to spot then ask at the bar and they will point you in the right direction. So see you there, Caz ~~~ London Skydivers ~~~

did you not wonder why there were about 8 million (ok maybe slight exaggeration) bottles of 'sky tiger' (tiger beer) on the tables?? ~~~ London Skydivers ~~~

thats a reasonable enough statement, yes I am happy that I don't need to carry a gun and happy knowing that others around me are extremely unlikely to have a gun. If it were to ever go to a public vote over here though about whether British Citizens should have the same kind of gun laws as you guys do across the pond I sincerely doubt that anything would change. People over here just don't feel the same way about them as you guys do, and don't feel that we're oppressed in any way by not being allowed to carry them. ~~~ London Skydivers ~~~
-
an average person on a crowded tube spotting a detonator as opposed to someone playing with their MP3 player?? I don't have a gun and don't consider myself a victim. What I think you are forgetting is that the VAST majority of Brits are happy with the current gun laws over here, and wouldn't want to carry them even if we could. I for one feel safer in London (aside from the fact that its my hometown) than I do in any other place in the world where people are allowed to carry concealed weapons. ~~~ London Skydivers ~~~
-
You are correct that if they were undetected, a gun would be of no value. It's pretty hard to conceal a bomb on a hot day and given that most Brits are on high alert after the most recent bombings, it's more likely a bomber would be discovered. At present, there would be little a citizen could do.
-
We all get public transport as we work in London, so you'd need to get the tube home. Don't worry we can point you in the right direction and there's bound to be a couple of people heading a similar way. ~~~ London Skydivers ~~~

yeah heres one I took a little while ago after a nasty weather day at the DZ as well. sunset absolutely took my breath away. ~~~ London Skydivers ~~~
-
Well it is mid summer (not that you'd notice if you looked out the window at the moment) so yeah it probably will be quiet anyway, plus obviously the Nationals this weekend. But nevermind, all the important people will be there! Its actually the London Skydivers groups 1 year anniversary tonight, last July was the first official meet. ~~~ London Skydivers ~~~

me! although not sure what time I'll get there as I may have to go and view a couple of houses straight after work. ~~~ London Skydivers ~~~
