1. thanks. Yeah I have a slick front suit. Its good, small grips, etc. I was thinking I could make a weight belt for around 10-15, I actually have these chunks of scrap LEAD laying around. Maybe I'll get crafty... Yeah, I was thinking of starting with 8 pounds and then working from there. My instructor said 8-12 pounds would be appropriate only if I really kept having problems...I want to fly weights as I HATE trying to grip in a hard arch (read impossible). Plus, positive legs kinda kill my hard arch. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
2. The only full face I've tried is the factory diver (apart from BRIEFLY trying a Z1). I like it fine, actually it fit me better than the Z1. You can get custom fit kit for sky systems helmets, which are really nothing more than cushiony padding. Just try a whole bunch on, I didn't, but got lucky in that the factory diver fits me GREAT! But no flip up visor --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
3. also notable is the interesting sound the fire makes as your piss initially hits it. Very layered... --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
4. its not my hands Im worried about, theyre fine after climbing for a few years. I get pissed off when my pull up cord slips due to sweat/humidity. Oh well, practice makes perfect
5. ah right, but I see people with these power tools purposely shorten their closing loop because they know they'll be able to get more leverage with this tool. Its amazing how much more leverage you can get. My main question is how bad is doing this (shortening the closing loop to tighten up the main tray)? Is a total possible (I'm sure if it got TOO tight it would be?)? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
6. sorry if I was vague, heres a link on paragear with the one I've seen (maybe there are different designs, this is the one I've seen though). http://www.paragear.com/frame.asp?menu=group%3d29%26level%3d1&main=templates/base_template.asp%3fgroup%3d29 --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
7. I've seen a few people use it on rigs that are hard to close. Usually I see it on freeflying rigs, people have the tension cranked up a little too much, and sometimes resort to power tools. Are there any negatives to using a power tool other than if you HAVE to have one you probably are putting way too much tension on your closing pin? I havn't used one, but the times I've seen them used it looks like it makes life a whole lot more easier. Why not use em? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
8.
BSR or FAR for that?
FAR Sec 105.3: "Reserve parachute means an approved parachute worn for emergency use to be activated only upon failure of the main parachute or in any other emergency where use of the main parachute is impractical or use of the main parachute would increase risk." I take that to mean the parachute's only function would be to be packed into your reserve tray and used as an emergency. I guess if you packed it as a main you could legally jump it, but then you couldn't repack it as your reserve as it would of then be used in a non-emergency situation, voiding it as a reserve parachute. Did I read that right? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
9. hehe congrats on getting out of those twists! I wish I could of jumped today but saving my money for next weekend when I can jump MY OWN RIG! Woohoo! Anywho, take some tylenol and kick back for the rest of the day, dude --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
10. Good idea about the ankle weights. Do you sew them onto a webbed belt or something? How do you keep it from sliding off/up your hips/waist? I have used a weight vest and DID NOT like it at all. It made it significantly harder to manuever, I like the CG where its supposed to be... --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
11. definitely karma. I've seen it in action! ouch! --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

14. Skydiving has effected my view on mortality. What's even crazier than skydiving is thinking about starting to BASE jump. WHOA! You got a mind trip right there! --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
15.
What reserve do you have? How many jumps did you put on it before you put it into your rig?
Just to clarify he was talking about contacting the manufacturer and asking for a reserve to demo as a main for a few jumps to get to know the flight characteristics. Im sure the reserve the manufacturer would send you would have a bridle attachment point mod put on. It's illegal to jump your reserve as a main and then use it as a reserve... you probably know this, but just clarifying... --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

18. 105-110 (maybe) is my arch, as in trying my best to go fast. I've done a fall rate jump, and on most of my solos I've done fall rate adjustments. I'd like weights as I plan to start flying mantis, and I heard that SLOWS you down. I would like to go about 120 (which I think is average?). What do you recomend? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

25. I agree, the compilation of a kick ass album is a lost/dying art. Nowadays bands make singles and blast it over the radio and then slap it as number 1 ahead of 9-15 horrible subsequent songs. Anything by The Grateful Dead is good, particularly AOXOMOXOA, all their albums tell a story that flows from song to song... --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
