The Last Dance @ Casa Waller - Sebastian
sunnydee123 replied to skybytch's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Well seeing as how I have NEVER made it to Casa Waller to participate in an actual "event" (I know, hard to believe) I've heard many-a-stories and guess I'll have to see what it is all about for myself. So what is the scoop Wendy.... Just ditching the house but staying local or are you leaving us all together? And any sort of jump ticket deal sounds like a plan to me!!! It's the end of the month, I'm broker than broke. Interested to hear more soon..... Dreams become reality, one choice at a time... -
Nate Gilbert Nationwide Sunset Tracking Dive Saturday
sunnydee123 replied to chutingstar's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Ummm, it wasn't just the swoopers Mr. Drennan Zhills put up 18 people for Nate's tracking dive. It seemed like a rather quiet ride to altitude, as I think many of us pondered WHY we were doing this particular tracking dive and got a little emotional. Clouds and weather teased us all day and the DZ couldn't promise us altitude but I think Nate was with us. We all watched as we climbed and climbed and finally reached altitude. Two minutes out, Aubrey said a little something about Nate and the entire load was joined by a big "hand hold - raise em up" gesture. Brian McNenney lead us out (the spot was not entirely his fault either ). I was near the back of the pack but I had a kick ass view of the formation! At 6,000 we all started dumping and quickly realized how far out we were....I again had another awesome view as just about all the canopies were below and in front of me (I have to start flying camera). I personally took the time to chat with Nate a bit, as all of the canopies that were in the air for him started heading "home". Turns out "home" was to be a nearby cow pasture and I think it was my boyfriend Greg and Ian Bobo's canopies landing that started the cattle running -
Why not both....protrack for that lovely warning beep in your ear and the Neptune for the sheer BIG NUMBERS under canopy, no matter what your goals may be???!!! I had a close call last weekend and was thinking perhaps a protrack may have helped it NOT to be so close had the person MAYBE had to warning beep in the ear since he lost altitude awareness after the low jump due to clouds. Or Maybe the big fat digital numbers in his face would have told him to dump instead of blowing past me in free fall while I was under canopy at 2430 feet...way to close when ya get wind burn from the pass Use whatever tools will help you be safe....and aware Dreams become reality, one choice at a time...

So if I am like 13 hours short on vacation time (to take the whole week to play), should I just tell my job to take the hours and shove them...and still come to Rantoul? Not like I'm going to quit and not make them up...OR, maybe they have plans to fire me after August..... sunnydee shrugs shoulders....I'm always up for a good change - BRING IT! Nate Gilbert Nationwide Sunset Tracking Dive Saturday
sunnydee123 replied to chutingstar's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I'm going to be away from home but I bet all the "swoopy swoop" boys who will be playing in Zhills this weekend will be down with doing a nice sunset tribute. Nate touched many of their lives I'm sure...I'll do my best to try and keep up with the dive since it will only be #4 for me Dreams become reality, one choice at a time... -

The love of my life Nathan gilbert
sunnydee123 replied to Katieatasc's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Be strong sweet girl. It's been said many times, in many ways and sometimes you just don't want to hear it at all but Nate touched your life and will have a place in your heart always. Hold on to that thought when the times get tough and know it is yours always! It's hard now but I can promise you, it WILL get easier. As you cope with all these emotions and learn to accept them peacefully, it will allow you to refocus and simply appreciate ALL he gave to you - all that will make you stronger for tomorrow...it will help and it WILL get it easier. And on those days when it is not easy and you just can't see the light, that is what you have all of us for. We are here to give back some of the support and smiles you and Nate gave to us along this journey we call life. Lean on us sweetie and let us be your strength, until you are back up to speed. I know Nate probably mentioned more than once, as so many do, that he didn't want something like this to be such a sad time, we all know it is a possibility with what we do but we are also human - Take your time to deal, make sure not to bottle up your emotions, take some alone time and absorb yourself in your friends and family - then remember happily once again, all you've been blessed with, all he has shared and all he will continue to give and bravely take the next step forward. Love you Katie...... Dreams become reality, one choice at a time... -

Click on the thumbnails and check them out....second row, last picture is our very own Brian McNeeney frmo Tallahassee who placed first in Advanced. Where ya been man? Dreams become reality, one choice at a time...

If you are part of the Florida Canopy Swooping "crew" you know Brian so it was AWESOME NEWS to hear that he placed first in the Advanced PST Comp in Wildwood. I know he, and many of the other guys (only guys for now ), have been working hard to get proficient with their canopy flying and all the hard work is obviously paying off. I just thought it was great news about Brian and had to send some Kudos out across the email waves to him! See you all in Zhills! Dreams become reality, one choice at a time...

Not for nothing but the predictable daily afternoon showers are more in June (and early July). August is just hot as balls but it's just GORGEOUS at altitude no matter where ya are Dreams become reality, one choice at a time...

Well I have to say, I was REALLY SUPER DUPER glad I made the trip to Spaceland. First off it was just great to see some old pals again, plus I left a rainy Florida and arrived in a SUNNY Texas As for the DZ - THAT PLACE ROCKS for sure. All the people were great (and there were some cool people around ), the DZ itself really is something just for us skydivers and being from hot and muggy summertime Florida, you have NO IDEA how MUCH I loved that air conditioned packing area. HOLY COW! Days started kinda slow (it was slower than norm from what I was told) but I still managed to make 7 great jumps each day. Special thanks to Mel and Jason for picking my butt up and carting me around all weekend (luv ya's bunches). Thanks to Trent, Jed and Stevie for the hospitality and making all my rides to altitude humorous - love you guys too! Thanks to Kat for the jumps and gear help and thanks to ALL the Spaceland locals for making me feel so welcome - I don't think I stopped smiling all weekend!!! I will be back for sure! Didn't get to see any real fireworks but ya know, it wasn't a big deal cause I jumped all day and spent quality time with some great friends ~ who could ask for more!

Well since I just spent my first weekend at Spaceland this past 4th of July...AND LOVED THE PLACE, I'm gonna see if my guy wants to skip his official swoopy thing and come swoop Spacelands cool little pond I had a really great time this weekend despite it being a bit slower than norm (or so I'm told) but the people were great, the planes were flying (I was a lucky girl and got to sit next to Anomaly boys almost every load, the facility was awesome (loved that AC packing - holy cow did I love it It was just a great place and if I don't make it for Skyfest, I will for sure be back some time soon. Thanks to all.....ok - back to your regularly scheduled Skyvest chat....... Dreams become reality, one choice at a time...

OOOooo my little Melly-Kaleekee-Maka....I'm getting all excited to come to Texas now, DESPITE seeing the weather channel and the "flooding in Houston". As for the weather, a little water in the landing area might almost make me feel like a cool swooper , since I am working on my riser turns these days ...or it will give me time to pick brains on my headdown progression Ritas on the rocks, chips and salsa and Mexican food - YUM! I might have to be persuaded into trying the other stuff but I also don't know many boys that can cook (hey Mel, wonder if they like challenges) See everyone in just over a day ~ Dreams become reality, one choice at a time...

Ho-hum. Some day I'll be doing that..............some day SOON! Awesome pictures - I can only imagine what the next World Record will be like. DAYUM! Dreams become reality, one choice at a time...

Getting into Houston at 740pm Friday so not thinking I'll be out and about THAT night - but I'll be at the DZ bright and early taking FULL advantage of the sunshine I am CONFIDENT we'll have and then I'm hoping to see a little of the "town" Saturday night. Is Texas good for Mexican food? I'm craving it something horrible Dreams become reality, one choice at a time...

Thanks a heap....feel a WHOLE lot better about coming now. TEXAS...HERE I COME! Dreams become reality, one choice at a time...

OK I've been watching the weather report and they SAY it looks like the rain will stop Thursday or Friday. Can someone from there PLEASE talk to me about if things will be or have been flying. PLEEEEASE! I mean I'd love to just come see the dz but the whole point is to be able to jump. And to my little hot mama Alli....YOU, girlfriend are TOP of the barrel in my book I can't wait to make another jump with you - sure hope it's in a few days

Badfish Freefly Weekend @ * Skydive Virginia *
sunnydee123 replied to bkdice's topic in Events & Places to Jump
So um...when you say "cheap jumps", does that mean the $30 will get us perhaps some one-on-one jumps with the infamous Mr. Badfish Cowden whereas he just comes with us and tells us how great we fly or do we have to pay his slot and grease his palm and then sit and pick his brain during a kinda-sorta free dinner?? There is so much super great stuff to do this summer....... Dreams become reality, one choice at a time...
