Something else to remember, it takes a 'smart' man to recognize a 'smart' woman. Generally, physically attractive qualities are easily recognized by anyone. I think the guys who so obviously react to a womans' looks probably don't have much depth themselves. Action expresses priority. - Mahatma Ghandi

I'm going to be there in the afternoon on Saturday and probably all day on Sunday, weather permitting. I really want to meet you after reading/participating in a pro-choice/pro-life thread last year with some guy who doesn't post here anymore. Any chance at all you remember that thread? Anyway, please stop by the Monkeyclaw room and look for a small blond girl - as I have no idea what you look like...
-
Haven't made it through the rest of this thread yet, but... The Wildwood Boogie is 5 days of jumping on the beach heli, otter and skyvan jumps the PST will be holding 1 of it's only 4 events this year during the boogie (read: lots of hottie swoopers for you single girls to reject) and last but not least - Monkeyclaw, Selwyn and Will! Come play with us!! Action expresses priority. - Mahatma Ghandi

For all of you who mentioned being on the top of the food chain - and who LOVE to eat meat...! You should read Dominion by Matthew Scully. He's a catholic, pro-life, conservative speechwriter for GWB. Truly a fascinating perspective. Action expresses priority. - Mahatma Ghandi

What are some "universal truths" about seasonal skydiving and skydivers? Some examples: -Guys/girls dump the whuffo SOs they have during the winter to hang out on the dz all weekend. -Guys get new girlfriend in summer so they have place to live. -There is no more 'exciting' day on a dz than the first day a bunch of people get in the air together after taking the winter off. Try to be as un-PC as possible - it's more fun that way! Thanks! Action expresses priority. - Mahatma Ghandi

Whys the limit on the 360?
freeflybella replied to jeremyneas's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I don't think more 'turns' = more speed, I assumed the longer you hold a more vertical orientation (a dive), the more speed you'll build? I have no actual experience to speak of. I'm sure there are mathematical equations or theories out there that could make my head explode . . . I mean . . . clear it up for us. I guess my post was more a response to this: edited to add: I'm pretty sure my above mentioned assumption is wrong. Action expresses priority. - Mahatma Ghandi -

Jay Moledzki is the king of multiple rotations! I'm not sure the most he's done, but I've seen 900. He starts *very*very high, and winds down in a looong carve. Lots more speed. I think it's extremely advanced - and you don't see it much on DZs because there are only a few doing them. Check out Jay in the upcoming PD Factory Team video . . . -
Again, I gotta ask, A CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT? REALLY?
freeflybella replied to quade's topic in The Bonfire
Who does he think he is - attempting to make it forever and unquestionably law? It's arrogant and presumptuous and uncompassionate. Makes me sad to think I live in a country where 'principle' and or 'tradition' is more important than love and life. For all of you out there who are lonely and wish you could find the 'perfect' someone to spend your life with, just imagine how much more difficult it would be if it were not only 'looked down upon' - but also CONSTITUTIONALLY illegal. Do you not feel anything for those longing to love and be loved? We're not talking about the right to go out and fuck who or what you want - you don't have to be gay to do that - in fact, it's mostly declared heteros who are the most severely sexually disordered. We're talking about the right of 2 sincere, loving committed adults to have their union recognized and respected as real in the eyes of the law of our wonderful, 'accepting' country. I find it as disgusting and shameful as the merciless, ungodly enslavement and slaughter of millions of sentient animals in the name of gluttony and greed. We're so generally disconnected from our feelings and spirituality as humans - that we allow practice and law to continue to destroy them. (Patience. love and perserverance.) Oh BARF!!!!! My best friend has a weird attraction with strippers. EVERY chick he dates, he finds out at some point they are /or have been strippers. Dancer, fine. Stripper? Different. He says he hates it, but puh-leeze! Not to enrage the large stripper/skydiver population on dz.com, but you owe it to yourself to figure it out, dude. That is if you're askin' - not braggin'!!! Honestly, the one undiscussed/implied part of this discussion is that ALL skydivers - that is ALL skydivers, when truly recognising that skydiving is a sport that can kill you is - that you/we/everyone must take responsibility for saving ourselves, and check out every thing we hear with people we respect. Period. Whether a student, a 300 jump wonder, or some 'skygod' with 15,000 jumps - we are ALL learning. The point is not to follow blindly when your life is at stake. And you can't trust that when you post - to track toward the dz on a long spot - or opening your main just mili-seconds from a headdown position to get better openings - or that X gear is OK for freeflying - that that info will not be taken exactly word for word because you happen to be a highly respected jumper. On a public forum, and on a dz - when students are exposed to 'advanced' ideas or to any random yahoo who thinks he can 'coach' - we owe it to the 'newbies' to teach them that they are responsible for saving THEIR OWN LIVES and NOT ENDANGERING OTHERS. Sure, give advice, but recognize that YOU ARE NOT THE OMNISCIENT SKYDIVER and that we should all be checking our answers. Give advice and suggestions. Encourage questions. Ask others. Life is at stake. Action expresses priority. - Mahatma Ghandi

Good post! I think we're ALL guilty of giving advice when we shouldn't - no matter what the reason. Mostly I think it's out of enthusiasm. It's natural to want to share what you learn. And it's SO MUCH easier to do in a non-personal way such as the internet. I've often wondered, the folks who have the most to say - or the biggest opinions, would they say as much or would they say the same things if they were sitting around the fire with their peers and mentors? Again, great post. Keep your ears and your mind open and you'll live a long happy life!

Re: [Martini] Opening High for Bad Spots
freeflybella replied to Hooknswoop's topic in Safety and Training
Sorry for coming into this late - especially when everyone now seems to agree . . .a question from a right-brained thinker. On a normal jump day (normal conditions, ie, uppers same direction as lowers) what are the 'experts' agreeing to? That groundspeed should or should not be used to determine time between exits? If not, please explain? Please explain in a very practical way (look at ground winds, winds aloft, jump run direction, number/size of groups, etc.) instead of numbers and equations. The Skydive Crosskeys krewe will be at NOSC for Boogie in a Box and right on through the following weekend. Coming from the NorthEast, they are MASTERS at weather days! Sure to be an overdose of fun and excitement, no matter what the weather does! I wouldn't worry - it'll still be a boogie to remember.

QuoteBush tries to curtail way too many fun "evil" things to be the devil. *** Now THERE'S a good debate. Does the "Devil" stand for all that's 'fun and evil' in life? And if so, does that mean that "God" is boring?!!!! Action expresses priority. - Mahatma Ghandi
